  1. awesome trip, awesome pics. looks like quite a few freshies as well... jealous!
  2. I run one swivel, at my leader. My shot is on my main line, as well as my float. I don't lose many shot patterns or floats unless I manage to snag up really good. I will say a swivel above the float is the best way to reduce line twist and generally if the line you run your float and shot on is the same as your main line, chances are good the only break off will still be your leader. Of course you are still introducing yet another potential weak point but i've never had any issues. I run a slip float pinned in position and this also greatly reduces line twist and allows me to run a single swivel. It allows for one swivel, allows you to switch up to a deep Setting without the swivel above the float interfering, and allows the option to use as a slip float if needed.
  3. I've got an ancient 9'6" convergence thats had tons of salmon on it and takes a beating, awesome rod for the money, and now many places are clearing out the old model in the $60-$80 range. I just replaced it with a 10'6" new model convergence. Without spending tons of money these are great casting rods.
  4. I've made that trek numerous times... not so safe in the snow lol
  5. kinda looks like another NY trib travesty...
  6. haha, no, a different ny trib... out that way. i did stop at burt to watch that show too. not sure where to head this weekend! might stick local... you headed anywhere?
  7. some lake o tribs in ny were deece sunday, minus all the salmon yahoos at the dams... what a show.
  8. There is so much misinformation in here its ridiculous. I can't believe how many people believe this email forwarding trash.
  9. From someone who has multiple family members working in healthcare I can tell you we are still reeling from the Mike Harris days that crippled us. And so quickly have the people developed amnesia and forgot that the leader of our country disobeyed the very thing that makes this a democratic country.... and was REWARDED for it instead of thrown in jail. Get ready for the bush shock doctrine. Get ready for even less funding for our natural resource protection and things like nature destroying mines and power production get put above environmental concerns. Get ready for more jailing and less schooling. I can't wait for the old people who keep voting conservative to die off and I can't wait for the dumb youth to smarten up and get informed and vote.
  10. Or go real old school like my 92 1.6TD... no ECU's, 1 wire runs the motor... Best tank was 1190 kms from a 55L tank vented to 58L... not bad for a 19 year old car. It's gone now but I bought a 92 Passat Syncro Wagon w/ a 1.9TD swap. 75L tank, ~6L/100km average mileage, large station wagon, all wheel drive, with a suspension lift. plus custom cam, giles pump, 2.5" mandrel DP. I swapped the stock cam back in because the custom one was giving me cold start issues. But with the oil pan heater and block heater, as long as there is a plug around, it starts awesome. I couldn't stay away from the diesels for long. Most people I know who have owned one, ALWAYS own a diesel again eventually.
  11. definitely chucking spoons off the piers during the staging and early runs is where it's at. Once they are up in the rivers they are mostly a nuisance when you are trying to fish for browns and fresh steelies.
  12. Case Closed.
  13. I would love to know how to rig for the pool and head down there if anyone could help me out??
  14. Coyotes eatting people? LOL. It is exactly the same as killing a shark for its fin. You might think coyotes are a 'problem' right now, but this is how many many many animals ended up extinct. We think they are a problem or valuable, and then as greedy humans we kill them until they are gone. I hope coyotes do thin out the herds of humans. If you are dumb enough to be eatten by one, you probably deserve it. Natural selection, evolution at it's best.
