anthony bourdain fans should read kitchen confidential, especially if youve worked in the food industry!

well im not trying to get into a "who's got the biggest nest" argument with anybody - as to it being the biggest im not gonna climb up and measure it. youre right it is just outside the narrows and their is a nest in the hydro pole as well.
-
great show - i like the inside looks at all the diners a little more than the gluttony part. if you like this show you'd probably like guy fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on food network.

haven't i use this one http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/marine/forecast_e.html?mapID=11&siteID=07503 click on the icons on the lake for realtime wind speeds, temps, etc.

this is a large nest just outside the narrows. if you look close you can see the pair hanging out this was built to be a double barrel barn heater, add a big grill and you got a giant smoker. some more que porn - a sirloin tip smoked with hickory full pork loin smoked with cherry and maple four guys ate this pork loin with their fingers in under 10 minuters. it weighed just over 8 lbs! was a shame to carve it but there is always another slab around the corner....

lake niapenco is funny in that you are allowed to take any boat in there provided you only use the trolling motor. so big bass boats look funny but you fish in comfort. you can drift thru the whole lake in a tinny or canoe to fish for crappy, or try bobbers and bait from shore over visible weed beds in the very few bays. no special place there that i know of, just scattered, small fish from accessible areas as you follow the shore.

i used a lot of twister tails last week on buckhorn, white worked better than a dark color. dirty water has light colored fish and clear water has dark, so really you should use dark colors. the large amounts of sunfish and rock bass will let you know right away if they like your baits.

well thanks fellas recently got the charcoal Weber and am lovin the thing. i'll post some more if ya like.

its also RAMMED with weeds (not quite what im used to). great musky, i had a lot of followups on smallies i was catching. average smallie is on the small side, but ive had a few nice ones. giant pumpkinseeds and crappy to keep us busy.

they kinda look like a couple of hobos warming their hands by the fire - but i dont think that's what you meant by 'uncomfortable' is it? it helps to buy them a drink before you put the cans in....
-
got a tutorial from MM and now i can post images. too bad i never take a picture of fish i catch, but i do take alot of bbq porn! and the occasional boat pic - this was how every morning started on lower buckhorn lst week.

a real sharp rap right above the eye ridge - it would be the bridge of the nose if they had them - paralyzes the fish long enough to clean it. i use a sharpening steel and dont follow thru, you dont have to pound their eyeballs out. keep your fish alive right until you clean them, im not sure the point in killing them before cleaning them. lack of water seems to do the job....

ive beeninvolved with a few of these. the best place to start is the permit. the dude from the city will provide you with all the requirements clearances drainage plans etc. pm me with your number if you want to talk about it.

I can't see how sending away your automatic door opener & blackberry to get another pair of non-waterproof waders is the best deal you can get. what i was trying to say, but you said it better.

toss us some info on the make and model. johnson/evinrude models have a precheck that is a series of beeps and tweets. if you ignore the precheck and just start the engine, the precheck continues with the bells/lights/whistles. just an idea, you could be hearing this.

your not far from nanticoke if you want to try the outflow. pottohawk is within reach on a good day. fish the main channel with leeches or minnows, find some shoals or rockpiles and hit them with spinnerbiats and such. i guess the same thing as port colborne, you just have to find the structure on a chart or fishfinder. good luck

its a shame what happened, but i am also surprised at their offer to compensate you at all. most manufacturers place that moniker stating 'item warrantied for replacement only' where they dont assume any liability for damages caused by failure of their product. a similar tale - the livewells in my boat were marked incorrectly, front and rear switched. id never tested them and had stored a weekend worth of clothes, gear and junk in the forward livewell. when i turned on the rear livewell the forward well filled, soaking all my gear. i was kind of PO'd and took it up with stratos. they made no offers to compensate for any damages occurring. (well maybe it shouldn't have been in there but they are brand new and super clean and watertight). they were of course willing to rewire the switches if i drove it 180 mile round trip to the dealer... but anyway, take what you can get from them - but you're still stuck with leaky pockets! i wonder what kind of other stuff they sell - if their gear is no good than why would you want to buy more of it?

rat poison - i beleive warfarin was the stuff mentioned earlier works great but you gotta figure out where they are coming from or their buddies will just move in. plus with poison you have to make sure you dont get some collateral damage like your daughters cat or something. there are humane traps out there that you can buy or rent (usually for squirrels and coons). not sure why they call them humane as most people just kill what's inside!
-
you guys can shoot 'em all. just making the back roads safer for the rest of us. im not against some nice fresh venison either!
-
i was going to suggest steverowbathan as well. just from his pics and posts alone i'm considering leaving my boat in the driveway next trip to simcoe. if i was looking for a guided experience within 3 hours id give him a call.
-
i went thru the tackle hoarding phase that i think everyone goes thru. the nafter a couple of season fishing nothing but the same jighead, rapala and spiinerbait i cut it down to about three little trays. filling up the boat and hauling around all that gear i never used.....
-
im also in the same boat as lew, spent alot of money over a couple of years buying high end stuff. bought a new boat that HOPEFULLY wont cause problems. so now all i really buy is bait, the occasional bag of plastics, jig heads etc. now that ive spent about 30k fishing has gotten pretty cheap...
