I'm going on my first ever speck hunt this weekend. I've absorbed the comments above, and hopefully will be able to post up a report come Sunday

Funny thing is. I was going to post the same thing earlier today, but didn't think I would get enough feed back in the short time period before I left for the back lake.

I wish I wasn't so overwhelmed with work, or I would have also made the drive down.

But from the little that I new Tony, I think he would understand what a heavy work load is all about. That guys cell phone was ringing none stop for a good while at the Nip G2G.

That's what I was thinking, but there are some many knock off's these days. The only real Meegs I've seen are warn out, with no paint left on them.

I went for a walk this morning in my bush. Ended up walking across a frozen river (I thought). Took a plunge up to my neck.

Had to walk 1.5km home soaked to the core..

Seeing you that close to open water made me cringe a little.

I know he couldent tell you guys but I know he loved all of you guys here on the OFC. He would always be reading post and talking about them. It's. Very hard for me cause I lost my best fishing partner. I miss him already and the fishing season hasent even started. Rip dad I love you

I had a long talk with Tony about his new 2-up snowmobile. He was very excited to get out on the trails, and do some exploring.

I have a home made recipe that I made up when I brought home some pickerel but had not generic fish crisp. The process is similar to others. Dry fillets, egg wash, mix in breading, then fry in a pan. I've used all sorts of fluid ranging from butter, veggie oil, canola oil, cocoa nut butter, butter. I still haven't tried lard yet.

The different is in the home made fish crisp.

The qty all depends on how many fillets you have.

Here's the ingredients I use:

Italian bread crumbs. (or bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning)

Bisquick (or pancake mix)

Chili powder

Salt

Pepper

Spike seasoning

Natures Seasoning.

Add what ever else you want!

I'm in for a 1 shirt as long as they're not WHITE!

Make them black, or brown, and dark blue, green, whatever, just not white. I never wear white shirts fishing

There has to be an easy way to do it, but I don't have the extra time to tinker with it right now.

When I running line at night, I crank the volume on my fish alarm on the Humminbird.

It wakes me up everytime there's a fish under the hut. Rod it within arms reach, so I just reach over and start jigging.

From what I saw it was kind of hybernating in the a cage (den'ish like habbitat). They are going to release it back to the wild once the spring comes and other bears start coming out of their dens.

Wild oats you can't sow till after April 15th and all chances of frost has passed but who sows wild oats any more ... ..

You can start the wild oats inside, then transfer outdoors once the chance of frost has gone
