  1. I'm crazy excited about ice fishing.

    Can't wait for first ice.

Gunna be a long 2 months.

But I just got my boat back from storage. So maybe I'll scratch the itch with some Simcoe perch.

As far as timing on snow tires.. I have a set in my garage in steel rims that I out on when the snow starts to fly. I may put them on tomorrow morning.

  2. The only time I have been stuck in slush was when trailing a sleigh. As long as you get a good run, and keep her to the bar, you should be OK. But that being said.. It's pretty rare for me to be out with out sleigh in tow..

I have changed my rig around to tow the lightest sleigh i can possibly tow, so hopefully this season is better than last!! god, Nippising killed me last year..

Maybe some one will post a pic of me up to my knee's in slush!! Chad???

  3. Nice ride!!

I build a box for mine. Then just keep adding, and adding to it. So where it mounted to sled eventually failed.

So at the end of last season, I brought it all back to stock, and will just tow my utility sled with it this winter.

They are tough as nails! But don't handle slush worth a darn.... I considered trying to upgrade my to a long track.

    That ones in great shape.!

  4.

Awe I see a few fall soft water days first. Still got your yak Nick?

Still got it! and been using it a lot this summer, along with the canoe. No trailer hitch on my car...

Ummmm, not so much the crappies but...

    Winter is fun times.

Oh boy, that gets me pumped!!!

Nick.. bugger off ! Since I have a total of 4 fishing days in now this summer I'd like to get a month or so of Muskie fishing in before any ice appears anywhere, drink included!

Only 4 days!! I thought things where supposed to slow down the older you get!!!

Please add a subject to this thread. Thanks

Sorry Roy. I was half asleep dreaming about Crappies when I posted this.! :ninja:

I still have a lot of fall perch and crappie fishing to do first.

    Go luck!! Post pics!!!

Don't you have a ducks to kill this fall before the snow flies?

I've gotta overhaul the back end of the safari (new track, shocks and slides) over the fall then ill be ready :)

I have to pas some of my gem Crappie spots on the way to my duck blind, so that's what always gets me fired up!!

Well you get ice way sooner in Barrie than we do in Newmarket, so NO. Ice in my Rye yes like lookinforwalleye said!

The sooner the better! Most of my crappie spots are a good hour north drive, so even better!!

All topics need to have a name. I added it this time I will delete them in the future.

    Art

Thanks for changing it for me Art. I logged in tonight to do it, and you beat me to it!

Can I come hang out with you again?

Because then the answer is YES!

Hmmm. Let me ponder that one.

YES!! A class act like you Jer, your always welcome!

  5. I am an avid waterfowl hunter. And I can tell you that what you witnessed is not un-common. Sad. Horribly sad, but not un-common. I have seen guys on cooks bay chasing flocks of birds around in a pontoon boat at WOT with 2 guys up front blasting away….

The legalities of shooting from a boat have been mentioned already in this thread. And I think have shaken out enough to give you an idea of the law. I have a 14’ aluminum with a 9.9 fully equipped with a duck blind. I only shoot from this rig once the boat it still, and the motor is up and out of the water, 99% of the time I’m moored in to a spot nestled in the shadow grass…. Based on my interpretation of the law, this is perfectly legal.

What these clowns did to you was very far from legal, and IMO they should themselves be shot (non-fatally) and pissed on. They give law abiding water fowlers a bad name.

How I interpret the law, they broke several laws.

    1. I am pretty sure you are not allowed to discharge a fire arm a certain distance from a dwelling. For some reason 300 meters comes to mind
    2. You cannot discharge a firearm from a moving boat that’s powered by a motor (a canoe is a different story when jump shooting)
    3. Shooting towards you while you are witnessing… Well. That’s just the most ignorant thing they could have done.. I mean really. Are you that desperate for ducks that you need to drive around from dock to dock blasting ducks from your moving boat like your bass fishing??. I mean really.. What are these idiots thinking??!!!!!

    I need to stop now.

These people drive me absolutely nuts. I am so angry about this post, I just need to stop….

  6. Well, I am going through a divorce right now. And also having to pay child support and spousal support. I WAS a home owner, for 10 years. And have now started renting.

My long term goal (5 years) is to buy a house that has a basement apartment and rent that out. That's what I did back when I bought my first house. And I didn't have any major issues with my tenant(s). Helped pay my mortgage, and save money to by my dream home in the country (which I no longer own...) On top of that, one of my tentant was a general contractor, and he fixed the place up nice for me, actually increased the value of my home a little bit.

I would shy away from buying a rental property 4 hours away. It could turn out to be an absolute nightmare! Even if you get good tenants, there could be big issues with the house, and you may have to drive back and forth several times a week! Trust me, crap happens man, and it's not worth the few hundred bucks a month you MIGHT make if everything goes well.

  7. Regardless of the size, type, max speed, power, etc. of the boat you use, make sure you have all the required safety gear in the boat. I was out on Belwood last weekend in my inflatable boat and electric motor and was stopped by the OPP for a safety equipment check.

Do you have your pleasure craft operators card?

Sorry if this has been brought up already in this thread..
