As a follow up to my post about trying leeches on my upcoming trip I am thinking about getting this kit: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-1013-Piece-Spinner-Making-Kit/712191.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch%2F%3FN%3D%26No%3D0%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dspinner%2Bkit%26Ntx%3Dmode%252Bmatchall%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts%26WTz_st%3D%26WTz_stype%3DSP%26form_state%3DsearchForm%26search%3Dspinner%2Bkit&Ntt=spinner+kit&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products Is this a good way to go?

I have never used a leech and have not really fished for walleye but will be in June at Dog Lake. I plan to use leeches. Do I just use a jig head and bounce them off the bottom or should I use a lindy rig which I also have not used before. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Heading up to Dog lake in Missanabie the week of June 13th-17th with my Son and my Dad. My Dad's friend has a retreat like center that is actually up for sale that we are staying at. He mentioned that the bugs might be bad at that time. What should I prepare for? Since we are getting free accomadations if it's too bad I guess we can just leave and go home.

Both those decoys are made by Cherokee sports and are sold at Wal-Marts down here. Cabelas also has them. They ignore the hen and go right for the jake. They are inflatables.

I thought I would share my turkey hunting experience from this weekend down here Indiana with you all. I guess it's time to go fishing now. What a weekend that ended with my son's first bird this morning. Started the season out hunting down south for two days and only saw four birds. Saturday morning found me in the woods near home here. Had several birds close at daylight but they went the other way. I went and found them about an hour after daylight and found 5 birds strutting out in the middle of a field and they walked away from me so I went back to my blind. A little later I decided I would go back to the field and set up and hope they come back. As I was getting near where I was going to set up a heard a gobble close. I sat down against a fence post and put the decoys out. A half hour later they came right to my Jake. This morning my son was ready to go after hearing my report. We set up where I saw the birds strutting. About 7 we saw a few hens and then we saw two birds in strutt. At that point my son started shaking. We were kind of down in a valley and they couldn't see our decoys. When they finally saw the decoys they walked right to the jake and my son let him have it at about 25 yards.

Someone from this site suggested stik o's to me last year for smallmouth in Temagami. Seemed to work for us. I used mostly the watermelon red flake I think it was. Had a few senkos also. Couldn't tell any difference.

I am going to Dog Lake in June. Price is right as we have a free place to stay so we are going to give it a try. We have some insider information so I am hoping we can do ok. The people we know that fish there do pretty well in June at least. -
It was creamy and I took it in this weekend. Getting the pressure test done.

Haven't fogged it and I think it just appeared after taking it out the other day. I haven't drained the oil to check for water yet but will tomorrow. The marina here told me a lot of times it can be fishing line and last time I was out I got hung up trolling and had to break the line so that could be it. I will take the prop off tomorrow and see if there is line in it that broke a seal. Boat is stored in my garage. Can get cold but I do have an insulated door. I am going to have to look at more closely tonight but I think it was like a tan color.

I took my boat out last weekend and last night I found what looked like a puddle of grease about the size of a grapefruit along with a little water under my motor. It appears it came out of the bottom of the motor where the propeller meets the lower unit. The motor is a 2000 9.9 2 stroke Johnson. Plan was to go fishing tomorrow but now I am thinking I might need to take it to a marina. Any ideas?

I bought 3 rapalas here in Indiana for less than $8 at Dicks this past weekend.

Check out www.ottertooth.com I think the ice road is open so I would think the ice is good.

I went to Temagami last year and stayed at Tamar. If you like fishing for smallmouth I am sure you will do fine. I would probably be going back but since we can stay at a place on Dog Lake for free we are going to try that. We mostly used the bass pro version of the sinko worms on the smallmouth. I didn't catch anything but smallmouth. Between the 3 of us the only thing we caught besides smallmouth were 2 walleyes and 1 northern. Weather was about 20 degrees below normal a couple of days we were there. There were some locations we wanted to get to but couldn't because of the low water last year.

Anyone?

[/quote I'm booked into a lodge on Dog Lake the last week of June. Also my first time there. Hopefully I can help a little more when I get back, assuming of course your trip is after that. Might be there the same week or week before. Since we don't have to book I am not totally sure.

I got a couple of maps from them when I went to Temagami and didn't really use them. I bought a map for $25 which I thought was outrageous that was so much better.

Looking at going to Dog Lake in Missinabie this summer. Have got a connection to a free place to stay so I don't think I can pass it up. I think it is right in the town of Missinabie which I believe is the north part of the lake. Can anyone give me some advice? I haven't been fishing long and I am pretty much a novice. Last year we went to Temagami and did ok catching mostly small mouth. Would like to get into more walleye and northern but will certainly try for small mouth also. Is there a place to get a good map? Not a cheap one but a good one that shows shoals and all that. Feel free to PM me if you would.

I have been hearing about this storm on facebook from my sister in law who has been stuck in her house for over 48 hours. One of my sister in laws was the born the day after the big storm in 77. Looks like a whale of a storm.

Thinking about going to Dog Lake next year. Anyone here know anything about the quality of the fishing there? Through a connection of my Dad's we would get free lodging so I am thinking I can't pass this up if the fishing is good.

It can be done. My buddy got a 15 1/2 smallie on a buzzbait early Saturday morning.

The fishing wasn't to bad. We caught 30 smallies our first day before it turned cold. I wished we could have spent more time on Cross Lake but it was a long trip and at $6/gallon gas and busting a prop coming out of there my Dad wasn't too interested and going back to Cross.

So I went on my first real fishing trip the last week in June on Lake Temagami with my Son and my Dad. We stayed at Tamar Vacations and besides the cold weather we had a good time and caught a good amount of fish but besides smallies we only got 3 walleye and 1 northern. Would like to have a chance at more walleye/northern. My Dad is getting up in years and I think it might be smarter to go somewhere we could have cell phone service and quicker access to medical if the need arised if we do this again next year. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be Ontario? I would also consider somewhere like Minnesota.
