Ok. let's set something clear... My post wasn't put on here to rub anyone's nose in it. We've had a very successful 2 outings in November and 4 miserable outings in October. Yeah, live bait works well for us. We trolled for skis many times, but seem to have more luck catching while jigging for walleye..
As for not seeing the ski, When you fish with 6 lb mono, wasn't about to start hauling on it. John, feel free to share your technique ????
Captpierre.... if I offended you in any way, my sincere appologies...
Rich.... You need more friggin coffee..
John.... Still waiting..

Jigging for Walleye....
No offense taken Tiz.
I've never fished Pigeon in November. Did well in the summer.
This was the second year on the lake.
Lots to learn. Glad the fish are there in numbers.
The slots seem to be working

What do they build the tanks out of tinfoil?
Makes you wonder.
I paid $90 extra for a so called better one. We'll see.

Got to the cottage Fri. Hear a hissing sound coming from the unfinished crawlspace.
Turns out the 20 gal pressure tank has a small hole on it's side and water is spraying out. Didn't freeze.
Go to the hardware store, they give me the name of "The Pump Guy".
Next day -new tank and plumbing. $480. Mopped up about 25 gallon off concrete floor.
They say in hard water lucky to get 5-10 yrs out of a tank.
Don't know how old this one was.
Advice : shut water pump off before you leave cottage

I Have 3 ft at the end of my dock.
Anybody know where they all go this time of year?
They re-appear but not till May
I don't target them. Thinking they would attract skis where ever they go.

Really? Why are people so cocky here? Do you fish for a living? The dude had a bad few days. No need to rub it in there mr izumi. Maybe he doesnt fish pigeon's ridiculously tiny walleyes religiously, so had trouble finding them. Good job though, it takes a certain quality and skill set to twitch a jig covered in live bait.
Wow, that set me off. Time for coffee.
LOL! Maybe less coffee Rich.
Glad to hear somebody catching on my home lake.
Gotta get my act together

Got a quote of $1000 for a 52 inch ski. Nothing fancy. Just the fish
-
saw a beauti at the Sportsman Show. All aluminum. Drive on from the side with a movable ramp. Triton I believe.
$2K. Holds 2 with ease

the mounts ive seen by advanced do look pretty good, and very detailed.
i just dont like how they look so glossy. Like they have a fresh coat of wax or something
I agree. Way too glossy. Can you ask them to back off on that?
Other than that Advanced do an amazing job.
Still thinking of having my 52 in ski done in replica.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there should be no thermocline at this time of year and with those water temps?
Crystal clear line on my HDS 7 at 15-18 ft
-
You're trolling too slow (for 'skis)!
I was under the impression that when the water hits these temps we need to back off on speed
-
Washed all sorts of lures Sun-Mon at the cottage. Water temp 45. Thermocline at 15 ft on sonar.
Caught the big zip. Trolled for skis 2-2.5 mph 20-30 ft with deep Jakes/Believers.
Trolled 1-1.5 mph for eyes with deep diving cranks, bottom bouncer and stickbait/worm harness, same depths.
Found a bunch of boats jigging a 50 ft hole with minnows. They were steadily catching eyes but all were 10-12 inches.
Tried trolling deep in that area. Nada. Thinking there have to be minnows in the area.
No panfish at the dock.
Boat tucked away for the winter.

Any time I've ever wanted to purchase a new piece of fishing or boating gear and needed some info on it, I've always come here to OFC to ask the board members and get an HONEST opinion.
Last person I would ever ask for an opinion on a product is someone who's paid to promote the item, whether it's a top of the line guy like Izumi, or one of the reps at the Sportsman or Spring Fishing Shows who's shirt is covered in company logos.
When a man is paid to promote a product, you'll only get the info the company wants him to give you....IMHO
Exactly. Huge conflict of interest.
I'm still a Shimano guy

You've been backpacking for months while the rest of us pricks are workin.
What gives with that?
-
Had my impeller replaced as a precaution at 300hrs on my Yammy 115.
Still looked new. Mind you most of those hours are trolling

somebody posted last year that a mouse made a nest in a partially full box of Bounce sheets
-
Time for action. 'nuf talk!

I have the same settup.
1st 3 yrs. Took them out and stored on wood in the basement.
Last year. left them in the boat (in boathouse) and topped up the charge every month or so during the winter.
Disconnected the cables to the batteries -ie to motor and trolling motor.
I would like to know from the experts to see if they need to come in. All 100lb of them
Batteries are expensive. Want to do the best for them to last as long as possible.

Next weekend looking great!
