  1. Now don't laugh, but I use a small worm hook(ebay) and Texas rig my grub to be weedless just like a plastic worm. Depending on how much weight I need I pinch on a round earless splitshot up against the nose of the grub. Swims through just about anything and easy to rig. Cheap too.

Got a huge pile of sunken logs( like a couple of acres) on the Spanish river that I throw this rig into. I rarely get hung up, pull a lot of walleye out of there.

    mud

    Good idea Mud.

    Gonna try it.

  2. I have better luck on the Kawarthas in June.

    They hang around healthy weeds.

Typical use smaller jigs with grubs or minnows in the early season. I think a slower presentation in the cold water is preferred. Light line. I prefer natural colours. Some guys like white, yellow or chartreuse.

    Don't know about Shield lakes.

  3. I like the fact that there are naturals coming back. I really think the way the water management has been the last few years, it is helping not only the spawning areas of the white fish, but also the natural reproduction of the lakers. They were draining the lake way to late IMO. The lakers would come in to spawn on the rocks in October, then the lake level would drop. Leaving the eggs to lay on dried up rocks. Now they drop the level in September, giving the spawn a chance.

Heard the perch eat a lot of laker and whitefish spawn.

  4. just got word that my father in-law will be giving up his license. they're looking to sell his Ford Escape (it's the 2nd generation model - probably 2011 or 2012). I dont have many details about it on hand, but can get them if you're interested - drop me a PM. I do know that it's in really great shape and my father in law is super meticulous about anything he owns. if i didn't already lease a new vehicle in Dec I would have snapped this up in a heart beat.

No offence but those Escapes are not well rated.

The newer ones have improved to the point of "average" Unfortunately North American manufacturers are not making well rated small SUVs.

  5. This happened to my dog just before christmas. It was the worste day of my life. I have a leash, and I have a proper dog run, but he just bolted on me...and wasn't stopping for anything. I had enough time to run in the house to grab my headlight, and before I walked back out the door to get after him, my phone was ringing. The person on the other end said my dog was in a ditch and couldn't move his back legs. I would have rather heard them tell me he was dead, because what i saw my dog go through was traumatizing.

I've had many dogs, and putting them down is always the hardest thing, but this one was horrible.

Sometimes things happen that are out of our control. Animals have their own brains, and do what they feel sometimes. The driver also didn't stop. I don't even know if they knew they'd hit him.

RIP Coby. He was a great pooch. Only 4yrs old. Male black lab.

    S.

    Sorry to hear Sinker.

    That's devastating.

They have a mind of their own.

  6. Unfortunately this happens far too often.

They bring them to my clinic all the time.

    Sometimes dead on arrival.

    Sometimes needing to be euthanized.

    Sometimes with only minor injuries.

Often times needing major work including orthopaedic surgery costing thousands.

    All because of carelessness.

"I can't believe he ran across the road after that squirrel ".

    It's too bad.
