  1. I started fishing in Upper buckhorn over 20 years ago...I remember targetting bass and catching walleye on a regular basis. Six years ago we bought a cottage on UB and have had great success with bass...but have yet to catch a single walleye. If Im honest I really dont target them but would have thought I would have hooked into at least one over the years. Also hearing alot from neighbours that the walleye levels are no were near where they once were. Any comments or insights ?
  2. Hoping to do some fishing next week in Erie (US side) how can I get a US fishing license (without going to the US) Online option ? thanks
  3. Its a outboard. Thanks for all the insight guys...can always count on great input from this forum.
  4. I have a cottage on Upper Buckhorn and I'm hoping to splash the boat on Easter weekend. Should I have any concerns if it dips below freezing or not. thanks any advice appreciated.
  5. bought 2 last year...both rods snapped at the tip, one while I was loading line. Brought them in for an exchange. Hope you have better luck then I did.
  6. Looking for a drive in fishing lodge (walleye) on a quit lake. Dont have the time to do the big trek up north. Willing to go a couple of hours north of the Kawartha area. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
  7. I make some of my own plastics...still buy others. I can tell you that outside of the cost of the molds a senko costs me about 8 to 18 cents to make including the plastic (Plastisol), coloring and other additives. Its time consuming and a benefit if your trying to go for a color or combo that you cant buy. For my bulk plastic...Its ebay all the way. Quality is great and selection is good. Having said all that, time is money, and I still buy alot of retail plastic lures.
  8. I think its a bit more then your price range but my reco would be the Lund Impact. I picked up a 1875 Impact (also comes in 17 and 16 foot models) with a 115 and it is spectacular. The option jump seat\casting platform is a must. Fantastic fishing platform. Got mine from Hastings Marine (they are always at the shows) Second boat I bought from them and they always treate you great.
  9. I'd echo that...Larry is awesome to deal with. Takes about a week and a half to get them...I'd also recommend the bearing soak, makes a big difference.
  10. Yes, bought the Orange ceramic bearings from Boca. It worked out to about $30 per real. Very easy to swap out...takes less then five minutes and you can find several videos demonstrating how on youtube. C
  11. I've seen many references to the benefits of replacing stock bearings on low to mid market reels...but was always skeptical. I took the plunge and ordered 4 sets of replacement bearings for 2 Citicas and 2 Accurist PTs. What a difference! With the stock bearings both reals will free spool for about 8 seconds. After the bearing upgrade, they go for over a minute. I can really notice the difference flippin, haven’t tried casting…not allowed to do that in the house! The upgrade definitely lived up to the claims…highly recommend. ( and no I don’t work for Boca)
  12. I posted this same question last year. Had a Maxxum and wanted to move to a Terrova but wasnt sure about the steering or deployment (heard that power steer units were hard to deploy) I picked up a Terrova 80 autopilot\ipilot at the begining of last season and never looked back. The precision of the steering is fantastic and the fact that even without all the pilot controls you can stop steering and continue heading is the same general direction is huge. I'd make the move again without hesitation.
  13. Been in the same situation...visit your nearest Shimano dealer...you'll be pleasently surprised.
  14. A friend has a four year old Terrova and stowing and deploying is no fun. Are the MotorGuide Digitals easier -says one hand stow and deploy? Any feedback would be appreciated
  15. I know that a few members have already made the comparison to Shimano...but I cant help myself. Quantum is really missing the point of customer experience. Any company can experience production or quality issues...fact is that it happens. The real opportunity is what your customer experiences after they have an issue. Quantum had a golden opportunity to turn a quality issue into an awesome experience by standing behind thier new product...this would have been a very different thread if they took the approach Shimano takes. I had quality issues with Shimano rods and reals...but everytime they stand behind thier product, create an awesome experience and I end up tell other anglers. In fact last summer I broke the handle spindle on my brand new Curado...fell on it, my fault. Brought it to Shimano expecting to pay for a repair, told them what happened, clearly my fault, not a quality issue...thier response..."doesnt matter if you fell on it,it should not have snapped"...refused to charge me. Thats customer experience and why so many people rant about them. Quantum...step up...stand behind your product ...take care of your customers, and dont make them jump through hoops when you have a quality issue.
  16. Was at the show yesterday and heard that SAIL is setting up a location this fall accross from BPS. Can anyone confirm? Would be nice to get some healthy competition going.
  17. Thanks...ya, no problem with width, garage doors are 9 ft wide. Challenge is me, the boat and the garage are no where near each other. thanks for the feedback
  18. I'm looking at a new Lund Impact 1875 with a 115Hp Mercury 4stroke. As the name says the length of the boat is 18' 9", I want to make sure it will fit in my garage, curious if there is a rule of thum I can go by for the total length of the boat with motor (trailer has a swing tongue)...any help would be appreciated. thanks
  19. If you can redeem for a giftcard then that is the way to go. In ontario legislation demands that monies on giftcards cannot expire or be eroded in anyway through service fees. However this applies to giftcards that were purchased with cash, its a bit grey if you redeem points for a GC...current thought is that they could expire them. However, most retailer cannot distinguish between cards purchased with cash and those redeemed through loyalty programs...so most likely your safe.
  20. This is a very standard process for any loyalty program, especially those that are relatively new to the mark. Liability is a huge issue that has grown out of these programs...the points need to sit on your books until they are redeemed. The issue is that many people collect, but not everyone redeems. Many programs are moving to this type of points epiry models including the coalitions. And yes the purpose of the program is to spark a transaction or visit at least every 8 months. Points should just be a bonus...a really good loyalty program provide value outside of just equity. However the member is correct...most programs will reinstate points if you call...have not heard of one instance where they have refused.
  21. Picked up the Gulp management system last year...it leaks!...but still alot better then the original containers.
  22. I'm very new to ice fishing and I'm looking to purchase a fish finder. My question is why do so many people go with the flasher type finders for ice fishing and can you use a maping scanner. Also any recommendations on which model to buy. Any help would be appreciated thanks
