  2. Thanks PikeHunter! Lesson learned that day. I know where my stimulus check is going
  3. Yeah, I did that. In fact, Its all sand bar in front of the home and It was quite easy to walk around. I even took a boat on real clear days and drove around. Thing is, I had lures in my bag that were 20 years old. I just couldnt get rid of them. Now, I buy each lure that I know I will use. Thanks
  4. Your father will be with you every time your on the lake. Just talk to him. My sincere condolences.
  5. Ok, I live right on Lake Ontario. I have a hoist and a Bass tracker right in my front yard. Last summer 8/2 on a gorgeous Saturday night, I decided to take the boat out of my hoist and tie it up on a buoy I had right by the hoist. All I would have to do is jump in the boat Sunday morning and Im off fishing. Done it several times. Water that night was like glass. Good to go! As I was sleeping, My wife and I woke up around 3:30am to noticed our blinds in our bedroom moving inward which immediately told me a North East wind. It couldn't be, The weather man said Westerly. I went out to look at the boat and sure enough, It was rocking and rolling. After several minutes of observing, I decided to let it be seeing it was taking the waves quite well. So I went back to bed. 6:30 am I woke up and immediately looked out. All I saw was my engine. After gathering countless friends and family (5 hours of work) I finally had my sand filled boat back on the hoist. This is where I notice my tackle box full of 500+ lures etc was gone. We had a search party walking the banks, walking the sand bar etc. and Nothing ! As far as I know, Its still out there. I am having fun replacing. I feel like a kid again.
  6. As long as you have That Storm Kickin minnow. Your all set
  7. Just wanted to see what you guys think about the new proposed $10.00 Salmon and Trout Stamp Governor Patterson wants to budget in? I know this is in the states but I have met many Canadian fisherman on the Niagara River who this will effect. Thoughts?
  8. Welcome - I have got to say that you joined one great forum. Great people, Great information.
  9. Gosh, Please intend on keeping the fish before you start using the eyes. Not lately, but I have seen several perch sitting on the ice with no eyes and nobody around. Hate when I run into that. What a waste.
  10. OK - I'm assuming the picture was taken the day of the accident. Just looking at the ice in the picture I could tell you it was not going to be safe (or iffy) Do you agree? Look at the brite side 1. No one got hurt! 2. Think of the structure this will make when it finally sinks! We should tell him to roll down all of the window and throw some saplings in there.
  11. We need to have the receipt on us at all times when fishing or we get fined $500.00. Thanks all!
  12. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is issuing this update on the presence of Viral Hemorrhagic Septecemia (VHS) Virus in New York State waters and a new federal order that restricts the interstate transport of certain live fish. The virus is a pathogen of fish and does not pose any threat to public health. It was first confirmed in Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, and has now also been confirmed in Lake Erie. VHS is a fish disease that causes the hemorrhaging of the fish's tissues, including internal organs. Often, fish do not exhibit any external signs of having the disease. The disease affects all sizes of fish and not all infected fish develop the disease, but can continue to carry it and spread it to others. There is no known cure for VHS. The impact of this particular strain of VHS on fish populations is uncertain. It has caused fish moralities ranging from a few fish impacted to thousands of fish impacted. In order to combat the issue, All bait fish bought in a 's in New York State must be certified VHS free? Does Canada have a similar order?

  21. I do catch some occasion walleye, trout, salmon etc... to eat and I heard that snipping the gills after you boat the fish eliminates almost all the brown meat on the fillets, and the fish taste much fresher. Does anybody practice this?
