  1. Sadly these companys see profit margins not quality. asian marketeers do not honor trademarks, copyright laws of north america.. resurgence of oldies as new, is just a new flair of hype. my beef is buying a lure, and it can not be exposed to sunlight or it warps or swells. thats unfortunaly trying to produce lures at a cheaper manufacturing cost.. the plastic shad raps from china are sad. the wire bends simply. i will stay with the north amerian products whenever possible. asian imports do not have quality standards.the newer better is in my humble opinion just another way to forcefeed fishermen. the fish will let you know.

  2. HI not to be negative,

Sportfishing is down near 50 per-cent, along with boating.. back in the 1980 period the federal goverment put forth grat money for municipaltys for breakwalls, ramps and marinas. they now sit well under capacity. lost revenue from vacant boatwells. the mnr stance is to attempt to maintain not enhance the fisheries. the age old argument of lost opportunitys , will fall upon deaf ears. goverments after being downloaded upon from ottawa are cash strapped. lost jobs, no growth equal maintaing whats there at best. if you want ramps, parking areas they need to be maintained. citys and townships have to earmark tax dollars for these projects.. i live in southern ontario and have witnessed countless closures of marinas and sports good stores. my only postive things i see that have a viable outcome is to lobby and maintain whats available now.

    sportsfishing is in damage control.

  3. know some folks that looked out on the lake. saw a bull moose. they looked thru there scopes. as it was a bull, they had a cow tag. they were charged for scoping. no shots fired. mnr attitude. fight it if you dont agree. 1000 mile return drive to court. thats sadly entrapment. northwestern ont has a few co,s that dont want hunters up there.

  4. hiatal hernias can be medicall found from a scope or an upper gi test. unfortunatly the surgical cure only has a 50 per-cent sucess. medicine and DIET change you can turn the symptoms off. diet seems to be the largest factors due to all the crap society eats and actually calls food.

  5. 1999 i blew out l5. i was sent to 12 specialist. after gruelling epidurals, cortizone, flacet injections therapy i was deemed SCREWD nobody in ont wants to operate on patients with spinal stenossis.. sciatica has subsided but i have been left with bad nerve damage in my legs from this. i wish anyone well on this issue. living on pain managment sucks. what sucks worse is our health care managment. .

how is it insurance companies can get specialist appointments and mri booked in 2 weeks when joe avrage waits a year to see a specialist and 6 months for a mri..

  7. when i started in a lumber yard 1.25 per hour.. gas was 20 cents a gallon. a new plymouth fury 2 was 35 hundred... no fast food, cellphones cable and we only had 4 channels in black and white. i listened to leafs cames on a crystal radio set. that was the days when mom was home raising us, and you never questioned dad. born in the early 50,s when folks knew the neighbor, . funny world we live in t-day

  8. years back when i was chartering, we needed a station licence at 36 dollars yearly. the vhf course was free at the time. vhf in the right hands is a very valuable tool on big waters.. there are abuses ob st clair. one guy feels he has his as a chat line. i once asked him if he had 2 radios,,,so he could hear himself talk.

  9. I agree with you 100 % Brian but sadly, I don't make the rules and your right, it does seem odd that you have to pay $$$$ in order to help others.

I know lotsa fellers use them that aren't certified but I figured I'd rather pay the fee and just be done with it then there's nuthin to be worried about whenever I'm stopped by the coppers.

Funny thing is, I used radio's everyday for 30 odd years when I was working and never needed a license for them. Basically the same thing cept your talking about different stuff :dunno:

  10. this is sadly just another pork barreling option from our leaders. campaign funds and suddenly new legislation abounds. as there were a couple incidents that were highlighted, now this.as a society we are pushing to remove the HAVESand create the have-nots. unfortunatly the goverment see,s fit to further reduce the middfle class thru taxations, program .reductions. well folks remember at the polls. call your mpp.

  11. sad but true. 1 factor. these folks are on their own time. does this mean we will hang the doctors, lawyers and all workers that have a drink on their own time. how about having a barbecue with family. your kids running around but you and your family friends consume alchol while there playing. in reality its a society issue not just blue collar workers. oh ya bye the way. i own a jeep. its never been back for any defects or warranty issues in 2 years of driving.. the media constantly wants to endorse witchunts for ratings.

  12. hi just noticed this thread. lsclair is an awesome musky fishery.

if you have planer boards try running your lures in the top 6ft. if not boat rods with a system of 4 and 40. that means 4 ounce inline weight and 40ft of line out. at 3.9 to 4.1 mph its a big fish set up. .

we prefer hi action lures like woodies,,,minee mees, and the new handlebarz bucktails. as for leamington the waters very warm. the sheephead out number walleyes a millionto one. bring tons of crawlers, or wait till the water cools some for the western basin of erie.

  13. Here in LSC we do a lot of trolling I try mu luck with casting but have not had much luck later in the year its good but summer time trolling is the key here.

You don't need the dipsy's or down riggers they are over kill as you will be fishing 12-18FOW and your lures will be running 3-12' down. Your rods should be good just upgrade your leaders to 80lbs florocarbon (if you need I might be able to help you out with them) try and make them 5-6' long this way you can run a lead weight in front of them to get the lures down some.

I like canon ball style weights 1oz-4oz is the common ones but we do use up to 1Lbs to get a lure down in the prop wash.We clip them on the leader where it attaches to the main line this way it also acts like a weed guard and keeps them from your lures even if the line is loaded with weeds the lures usually stay clean. (I also make them 1oz-4oz if you need them I have lots and they don't cost much at all)

Speeds I start off each day around 3.5mph but do fish up to 5mph every trip and way beyond if things are slow.

Target the break lines or contour lines if you have a GPS and a chip for the lake if not have a look at this site it has some great info for mapping the lake and shows you the exact spot that you are looking at so you can mark them in your GPS.

I like to use woodies 6 1/4" they produce a lot of fish for my boat and many others here they are made in Windsor color patterns I like would be frog's olive, blue or dark frog Perch patterns with yellow belly or white belly, Special perch is a amazing color and takes many fish each year Black perch is also one of the go to colors try to stick to the "meat and potatoes" colors natural bait fish, browns, blacks and greens but always bring along something crazy for them early or late day fish.

I also run Jakes nils master 10" lures. I know many use super shad raps and do well with them again same color patterns you can use a lot of different baits they all have there day.

I run my own flashabou inline lures and have had some nice success this year with them they are a double 8 colorado blade version of the cowgirl.

We use planer boards so if you have some inline ones bring them as they will help you out a lot.

For my first set up for the day with 4 rods I will run two board rods 1 with 2oz and 30' of line the other 2oz 20' of line then the boat rods will have 2-4oz and 10-40' of line depending on my mood. Also look for water color here if its very dirty look for the clean edges as the bait fish here will be stacked there and the big fish follow. I like a stained water and work it hard east west north south and pay attention to the speed direction and line out so that if you get into a fish you can do it all over again.

The water temps have been high this year so please remember to try and keep the out of water time short. What week are you coming down? I have a few days off early Aug and will be out if the weather is on for that time. I can also give you the majors and minors for the days your here they do work a lot some laugh about it but they do work amazing.

As for pickerel and bows you will be better off on Erie they eyes are here but from what I heard they are in the rivers across the lake as the temps got to hot to fast but then again I ahve not chased them this year so I am not much help there.

If ya have some questions I can help just shoot me a PM

    cheers Mike

  14. no surprise to folks in southern ontario. we have been under serviced, over taxed for years. our hospitals are sadly understaffed. as for mr mic-squinty he truly is a piece of work, along with his crew. living in essex county or kent county,, its sad to be down loaded manure.. seniors, under priveleged, dis-abled folks suffer the worse. wheres the voice of humanity for these folks????
