At first, it was the bearing problem ... now my clicker is gone Went out early morning today trying to beat the rain ... Rushed to the water from the parking and was so excited seeing nice water color started setting up my rod and noticed my clicker is not as responsive as before ... guess what ... it was fatigeed ... nearly broken into half I have lost the original part list and am also wondering where I can order it Thanks

To cut the long story short, something found its way into my Sheffield bearings and has got to the point that they dont spin anymore looking for replacement/upgrade bearings but could not find specifications of the original 'German HBP bearings' to compare to Any ideas on HBP bearings and perhaps suggestions on where/what to buy them? Thanks in advance

Sheffield 13'4 float rod warranty?
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
which rods have the similiar stiffness? -
Things always happen when least expected My beloved Sheffield float rod just shattered on me today while rigging up splitshots on the shore I would at leat to break my rod tip while fighting fish, slamming car doors or even stepping on it by accident but definitely NOT when it was being setup! After putting myself together, I quickly re-cast it back in the water and FISH ON! the fish was not big but it was a fun battle with two less guides Any information on claiming warranty and recommednation to rods with similiar action/power are most welcome!

Shore Crappie fishing @ Simcoe?
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the reminder but I am not planning to keep anything Going to use the steelheading's spirit to fish for Crappie, ha Does the muddy water affect fishing for crappie or not really? -
With the crazy amount of rain we have recevied so far, river steelheading is definitely a write-off Someone suggested me to go for crappie @ Simcoe shore and wonder if the high water would make it worth it or not Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

It was double-double, not chocolate milk!

Other than the fact that your fly/jig hooks will get rusted if they are not dried after use, is it true that they are supposed to be hair-blower-dried to the point to be fluffy again? Is it because it will be more natural when hitting water next time, or just another urban legend? Thanks!

Is florocarbon leader REALLY better than mono leader?
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
I guess it is worth the money to keep breaking off my FC leaders in snagging areas ... instead of cheaping out to use monos -
Lets the ultra-light leader thrill begin!
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
BTW, forgot to tell the story ... It was another gin clear day and couldnt hook onto anything since 7:00am ... Out of my desperation ... slowly put on my 3-lb FC leader with size 14 hook First drift ... my fishing buddy called me and my float WENT DOWN HARD! For sure I set the hardest hook ever in my life and FISH ON! Hung up on him and my reel started spinning like crazy! After 10 seconds ... no more head shake or movement ... damn! probably got snagged ... Guess what? It started running again! After landing it ... I can say is ............... SPRING is HERE! Hope you enjoy the pic -
It seems there is a trend of using ultra-light leader nowadays 1-lb fish with 6-lb leader = 1/6x thrill 2-lb fish with 2-lb leader = 1x thrill 6-lb fish with 6-lb leader = 1x thrill 15lb fish with 3-lb leader = ...... 5x thrill! Sorry, Kelfun, hate to but have to put you on the spot, ha

Is florocarbon leader REALLY better than mono leader?
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Some old timers told me that with mono leaders, you are supposed to change them after dipping in the water for 15mins because it deteriates .... is it true? -
Went fish today and got snagged so many times to the point I was thinking about using regular mono leaders who are 2 times cheaper Have heard a lot about how great florocarbon is and wonder if it really does make any difference? some say florocarbon is less visible ... well, how can it be proven? some say florocarbon lasts longer ... any words from old-timers
