How do you bring fishing stuff?
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
with the same amoutn of stuff to be carred, what I have noticed is that front-type chest pack hurts my neck and back since the weight pulls forward whereas the 50/50 distribution type of chest pack allows front/back counter balances each other. (that is why i LOVE my 50/50 chest pack) Started looking into fanny pack because of the hard warmer issue I mentioned and wonder if the weight is going to tire your body in a whole new different way gave up on fishing vest b/c it gets soaked in the rain unless I get myself a G3 vest .. -
Just bought myself a new fishing jacket with hand warmers and noticed my Wchest pack is in the way of my hand warmer .. wonder how you guys bring your fishing stuff I have got steeleheader stuff along with camera, wallet, falshlight .. it gets pretty heavy once everything adds up
-
Nice! Just when I thought no one goes steeelheading anymore since it has been pretty quiet for a while What was the size of the jig you used? I found even 1/32 is too heavy for me

okumasheffield replied to Rich's topic in General Discussion
The only place I have seen people fishing for rainbow is the dam Does anyone else know other places? -
I have tried those Berkley Powerbait pastes in various color and yet have not had any success. Not to mention the nasty mess when taking it off the hook

I have already booked my vacation to go steelheading based on weather forecasts which have been rarely accurate ... what a waste to my vacation! The weather forecast said it was going to rain 15~20mm on Tuesday so I quicky booked Friday off to find some steelies ... guess what ... It says it will not rain until Saturday ... Needless to say, I cancelled my vacation and am now hestitated to book Monday off ..

What else would you try when rainbows are finicky
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
The only we did not try was the Live Nymph mentioned by Solopaddler. Just wonder where you can buy them .. or catch them? By the way, how do you cure single eggs so that the juice does not come out when the hook goes through? The singles I river-water-cured lose juice as soon as being put hooks I am still depressed from yesterday even though we are getting rain right now -
My fishing buddies & others were fishing at this hole (7ft+ deep) with 20+ rainbows swimming around non-stop yesterday. None of us got a single bite from 7:00am to 6:30pm when we called it the day everyone was frustrated including two experienced fly-fishermen. We have tried everything in terms of sizes/colors/batis/flies including 2/4/6-lb leaders and still got skunked. What else would you try?

How to use floating eggs for centerpining
okumasheffield replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
But the swivel might get caught at the bottom and might end up breaking my main line with my float ... by the way, i usually use 3 feet of leader, which means my bait will be 3 feet above the bottom ... is it ok? -
How do you centerpin guys using those fartificial floating salmon/trout eggs such as Gulp! and Powerbait so that it stays down rather than floating up from the swivel?
-
It is over already? I thought it has not started yet!
