  1. I have never beena car guy ... little wouuld I know about what 210k means so ... does it mean most people just went out to buy another car when getting close to 210k?
  2. thanks for all your input. just got it checked & replaced by a mechanics my car-guy friend knows. the total costs was right in the range mentioned above which is OK. However, was completely surprised to hear him saying that at 210k km ... anything in the car can break down at any time ...
  3. Well, it finally happned to me in this freezing rain night ... wonder how much the cost roughly is 2005 Toyota Rav4
  4. Cars nowadays are definitely lightyears way ahead of cars back in 2000. Here are some facts: For Weight reduction: ================================================================================== - Lighter & stronger materials: Dual-phase HSLA materials (expensive) weights nearly the same but cabaple of taking much more impact energy when in collision (there are other crazier ones) have been widely used on vehicles nowadays - Alternative materials to replace metals Instead of having a metal bumper acting as an energy absorber, 2012 Honda (cannot reveal model name) vehicle uses Special Styroform to reduce the weight by 80% - Laser Welding Implementation Traditional MIG welding (a method to 'glue' metals together) adds roughly 5% of the toal car weight whereas Laser Welding, which requires a lot more stuff) adds ZERO weight to the car. Ex: 2011 Chevy (cannot reveal the model) Radiator Support assembly weights only 80% of its previous models. However, weight additions due to ================================================================================================= - Technology gages/toys On average, your instrumental panel weights almost 40% heavier than it was because of electronics such as GPS, Airbag, stereo, Bluetooth, Back-up camera/sensor system ... & eletrical wiring harnesses coming with them. Much Higher Safety Standards ========================================== High standards means more components (weight) added to the car All in all, if there were no technological advances in materials & in other countless fields, 2000 Civic would have to be at least 2x heavier than a 2011 model in order to do what a 2011 does!
  5. Kevin, you ..... popped my cherry! My 1st-ever topwater catch!
  6. seems there are two school of thoughts ... maybe it is just an urbanlegend?
  7. Another newbie question, is it recommended to loosen drag & the spool tension before putting them away for storage?
  8. I would suggest to spend 2 months (during off-season, of course) to learn how to Wallis cast then no more line twist for the rest of your fishing career! It would be easier if you already know how to baitcast!
  9. What are they going to do with her if no one pays for things she needs?
  10. found this kitten around my place today. pretty sure it is not a household cat and wonder if there are organizations I can take her in for others to adoptions
  11. Skipping is sooo cool gotta look 'professional' even if I dont catch!
  12. Have tried different On/Off settings with Shimano's VBS on my Curado and could not tell any difference What did I do wrong?
  13. While trying to be a superstar on the water day by 'skipping' creature baits I got myself a massive birdnest which took me 20mins to untangle What I did was to try to loosen up tightened lines back & forth until the line somehow went back to normal Any advises?
  14. do you do delivery to Toronto? Cheers
  15. What is the casting distance difference between proper tension vs free-spool?
  16. What is the lightest jig/bait you would use on a baitcaster? 1/8oz? got my first baitcaster this past weekend and had lotsa fun with it. bombing anything more than 1/4oz was easy for me and just when I thought I somehow masterted it within 2 days, I figured that I got birdnests almost 99% of the time when using 1/8oz Now that I have fallen in love with my baitcaster, I wonder if there are applications spinnging reels are meant for?
  17. Going to Chattanooga Tennesse from the coming Monday to Thursday and wonder if anyone have personal experiences with any local fishing tackles worth checking out for. Both BPSs in Tennesse are 2.5hrs away ... kinda too far for my tight schedule Thanks!
  18. I was completely surprised to see my friend uses Mono for all his baitcasting reels and wonder what type of line I should use for mine & reasons why each of you uses different lines Thanks BTW, I thought braided line stays on the spool as oppose to mono?
  19. went bass fishing on a friend's boat yesterday and had my first experience with a baitcasting setup. perhaps because of my previous experience with Wallis-cast on the centerpin, I was able to get pretty good at thumbing the spool after having couple major birdnests. He then let me use his Core, Curado & Steez on top of the Caenan he lent me. I can tell Core/Curado/Steez are much smoother than Caenan is but could not tell why each is at difference price levels. Here are my questions: 1) what is the diffference in casting distance between max/min backlash brake setting? (same weight, same rod, same line ... etc) 2) what is the difference between models I mentioned above Thanks!
  20. Thanks. Gabe. Guess I will have to wait for some time.
  21. Noticed there is a float rod in BPS wiht NFC label on it & wonder if it uses the blank on NFC's website?
  22. when are you taking me for a carp trip?
