  1. Heh, there is a huge line up to go fishing with Mike ...
  2. Hi all, Just got back from states earlier than expected and am wondering the weather was for east Lake-O cities to see if I should head out tomorrow. PM if necessary Thanks
  3. Wow, stripping down a GLX and to rebuild ... sounds VERY EXPENSIVE!
  4. Ofcourse I will balance the rod with the reel BTW, it is Kelfun who has the KINGPIN centerpin not I. I am at Thornhill GLX from G-Loomis?
  5. I am glad $1000 is more than enough ... was afraid that I need to sell my kidneys for extra cash What blanks are recommended and where can I put my hands on them to have 'touch-and-feel' experience?
  6. Ooops, I meant 'unexpected' events in life Below is what I think - Float rod - 15-feet at least (I think 17' is too long for places I usually fish at - 3 pieces (I guess this is a no brainer) - Weight, as light as possible - Action & Backbone (I tend to like stiffer rod) - SiC guides (this is top of the line, right? does it really make any difference?) - Large top guide for winter - Fixed reel seat (another no brainer, haha) - Money to spend .... uhm ... would 1000 enough or need more?
  7. Hi all, It has been a while since my last post. Lets say I had been dealing with expected events in life until just now. Since things didnt turn out the way I wanted/planned them to be no matter how hard I have tried, I have decided to buy myself a very FIRST CUSTOM rod. Wonder what blanks you guys would recommend and the price range and other helpful stuff I should know before talking to any builders Thanks
  8. Dont ask me why but I have always had fears about walking/standing/fishing on ice ... I can swim .. but still ..
  9. I was hoping someone would say all rivers are open and somewhat blown ... in which, means I can finally wash my fishing gears sometime next week for the first time in months ..
  10. With this crazy warm spell over the weekend, does anyone happen to know any lake-o river conditions? Thanks
  11. Just want to let you guys know how satisfied I am with SIMMS service. Sent in my L2 wader for the damange mentioned above on Jan 5th and got it back today, Jan 27th! On top of that, they actually called me when they received the wader and let me know when it will be shipped back That is what I call 'warranty'! SIMMS rocks!
  12. Bill-M, See what you have done! Kelfun starts looking for that car now ... what is next?
  13. Why wouldnt you listen to me when I told you it was a knock-off? Now the whole world knows you got scammed! I will stay A-W-A-Y from you when seeing THAT on the river ... THAT KNOCK-OFF is going to spook even fish with just one eye!
  14. Sounds like an swesome place to check out even though it is a bit of drive for us Thanks for the information
  15. One of my fishing buddies is looking for a new float fishing rod and he was told to check out Angling Outfitters in Woodstock which apparently has a huge selection of them have any of you been there before? how is it?
  16. Does anyone happen to know if William Joseph Equinox chest pack has two stripes around the waist or just single stripe?? I am concerned about the weight balancing issue ... seems to me having just one stripe around waist is going to make the pack swingning around Any tackle shops in Ontario have it?
  17. Kemper, it seems to great minds (fishermen) think the same! I did exactly what Solo suggested a week ago (didnt want to buy a whole tank of degreasing solution, had to wait for my coworker to bring me some) and WA-LA! my Sheffield now spins forever ... just kidding. It spins significantly longer than it did before wonder if it has anything to do with lubes I have used or whatever but I am just too happy to think about it the problem is that ... when can I get sew oil? I really dont want to keep using what I have been using .. Lets just go out to spin our centerpin and forget about hooking onto fish, what do you say? Kemper BTW, I think this never-ending-cold-snap has bored us ...
  18. Stop asking me questions as if I were the SIMMS designer ... Drifter does have a good point ... to use the zippered hand warmer as extra pockeets
  19. Just noticed that SIMMS G4 series have large zippered hand warmer pockets while web surfing. Wonder why making zippered hand warmer pockets, the only thing I can come upp with is that those pockets might be warmer than others because it is one layer closer to the body (it is body -> hand warmer -> outer wader layer, instead of body -> outer wader layer -> hand warmer pocket) (Needless to say, it should be warmer than those on wading jackets as well) However, if the weather is so cold that you would use hand warmer pocket, wouldnt you wear a fishing jacket as well? If so, how do you access the hand warmer pockets on the wader other than leaving your jacket un-zipped? I guess the G5 jackets would have zippers to allow you stick your hands into 'wader hand warmer pockets On well, I am crazy
  20. Doesnt it get so hot and start melting the ice you are on?
