Great post. Inconu are the largest member of the Whitefish clan. I had always heard they are rare and hard to catch. WRONG, lol.

    Rare, yes.

    Hard to catch, no.

Only reason they are rare is because they are only found in 5 drainage's in the world.

Fish one of those drainage's at the right time and you can catch a bunch.  ;)

Want to catch a ton of giant coney's?

Fish Kotzebue Alaska through the ice in May.  :D

  2. Ice out fishing in the land of the midnight sun is not for the faint of heart  is it Chris?  :D

You got into some great coney fishing. Maybe a little sun and warm and you would have killed the poikes too.

Fishing the ice edge is awesome!! As the ice melts food filters into the water for the bait to feed on and this brings in the predators.

The tactic works great for lakers too. ;)

  3. That happens here all the time.

Last time I did a trip to the East Arm of Great Slave Lake the surface water temp on the first day was 39 degrees.

After 2 days of calm and sun it was 70+ degrees.

Only goes down a few inches that early in the season though.  ;)

The gunnel height on the Pro-Vs aren't high enough for my liking, on my buddies I feel like I'm sitting ontop of, not IN the boat if that makes any sense.    I don't get that feeling with our Pro Sport though, although I wish I had an extra 2ft to play with :)    I haven't had a boat where I'm as comfortable in the rough stuff though,  I do get why people pay the money these boats command.    The search for the perfect prop continues!

You really wouldn't like my boat then Bill.

It's like riding a jet powered surfboard!!!

  5. How are the springs attached to the trailer?

On some trailers the mounts are able to be moved forward or back to adjust tongue weight.

It sounds like one could have moved if they are adjustable.

When you put the new springs in did you get the center rivet that holds the leaves together into the hole on the axles spring pad?

If not the axle could be out of alignment.

Third it could be a bent axle.

To check alignment measure from the center of the hitch to the center of the hub on either side.

The measurements should be equal if in alignment.

  6. I agree with the 4 blade Spitfire props, they really help get you up on plane and you don't lose any top end if going with the same pitch.

Another great add on would be a set of Smart Tabs. They will also help you get on plane faster and stay on plane at lower speed as well as give you a bit better gas mileage and you also usually gain a bit of top end speed.

  7. Update on the GoFundMe site today regarding the dispersion of funds etc.

    To our donors,

We'd like to take this opportunity to clarify how the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc. (HBMFI) and the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation operate as two separate entities.

    HBMFI:

The money donated to this GoFundMe page will be distributed by the HBMFI only to the 29 families of those who were injured or who lost their lives.

In 2015, the Government of Saskatchewan enacted law regarding crowdfunding donations known as The Informal Public Appeals Act. The HBMFI was created solely to oversee the fair allocation of the GoFundMe funds for their intended purpose, according to the process dictated by Saskatchewan law. While the HBMFI will work as quickly as possible, this legal process merits careful attention and should not be rushed.

The GoFundMe raised a total of $15,174,900. After the deduction of fees necessary to cover the cost of third-party card processors, and the safe and secure transfer of funds (2.9% plus 30 cents per donation), the net amount which HBMFI anticipates receiving is $14,676,373,94. 100% of this amount will go to those who were injured, and to the families of those who lost their lives. All of the caring officers, directors, legal counsel and advisory committee members will serve the HBMFI without compensation, and all additional services necessary for the operation of the HBMFI will be contributed free of charge.

The HBMFI have ensured the families are aware of this process and its ongoing commitment to ensuring their financial needs are served, whether that’s through the continued facilitation of insurance payments, or your donated funds.

    HumboldtStrong Community Foundation:

In the wake of this tragedy, the Humboldt Broncos have also received generous donations through other outlets outside of this GoFundMe. These funds will be managed by a separate non-profit organization called the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation. The funds within this Foundation are not connected to the GoFundMe in any way. Instead, they will support a broader range of individuals and organizations affected by the crash of the Humboldt Broncos team bus on April 6, 2018, and the aftermath thereof, including but not limited to: Humboldt Broncos’ players, employees, families, and volunteers; first responders and emergency services personnel and other teams, athletes, related organizations and communities.

The Humboldt Broncos’ family is #HumboldtStrong and united and will remain so as we move forward together in support of those affected by April 6.

The best compliment I ever got was from the lady that runs Harris boat works on Rice Lake. We had the boat prepped and ready to go when our turn came to launch, straight down the ramp and launch in less than a minute and when we came back later that day we only tied up the ramp for another minute. She came storming out of the office up to thank us for our launch retrieval abilities. She said we were the best of the day and that says something on the opening day of Pickerel.

My buddy and I were like that back when I lived in Ontario.

30 seconds to launch and 60 to retrieve.
