  1. WOW ...thats only 5 hours of daylight to measure the ceiling height ...NWT must have a gas powered measuring tape

It's done with "FRIGGIN LASERS" now. :tease::tease::tease:

Just ask Solopaddler it's his job at the Hamilton airport.

Every hour he takes a reading off the laser thingamawoosamadoodle that tells him the ceiling height.

  2. What bothers me is when I went to do the garbage this morning and it's -24C outside. Those temps should be reserved for only arctic folk at this time of year.

Stop whining you girlie man!!!!! :tease::tease::tease:

Please send some snow our way though, there's not enough for comfortable sledding yet (rocks and stumps sticking up in the trails) :wallbash::wallbash:

  3. Two Mexicans are stuck in the desert after crossing into the United States , wandering aimlessly and starving. They are about to just lie down and wait for death, when all of a sudden Luis says.........

"Hey Pepe, do you smell what I smell. Ees bacon, I theenk."

"Si, Luis, eet sure smells like bacon. "

With renewed hope they struggle up the next sand dune, & there, in the distance, is a tree loaded with bacon.

There's raw bacon, there's fried bacon, back bacon, double smoked bacon .. every imaginable kind of cured pork.

"Pepe, Pepe, we ees saved. Ees a bacon tree."

"Luis, maybe ees a meerage? We ees in the desert don't forget."

"Pepe, since when deed you ever hear of a meerage that smell like bacon...ees no meerage, ees a bacon tree."

And with that, Luis staggers towards the tree. He gets to within 5 metres, Pepe crawling close behind, when suddenly a machine gun opens up, and Luis drops like a wet sock. Mortally wounded, he warns Pepe with his dying breath,

"Pepe.. go back man, you was right, ees not a bacon tree!"

"Luis, Luis mi amigo... what ees it? "

"Pepe.. ees not a bacon tree. Ees

    Ees

    Ees

    Ees

    Ees a ham bush...."

  4. The Costco in Peterborough has a large orange flip-over with 2 built-in seats called the "Fish Inn 2". It was quite roomy and looked quite rugged. It was $599.

They also have a blue pop-up called the "Kingfiher 3" that looks identical to the red Eskimo "Quick Fish 3" pop-up that I bought there last year. Still the same price at $179.

They still had a few Eskimo Mako 8" augers for $284. I bought one a couple weeks ago, my ice looks to be ready for a test drill in another week or two.

Those Fish INN's are probably going to be a real good shelter.

They are new this year and made by Equinox.

  5. I'm partial to my Marcum LX-5 as well. :D

What sold me on this unit over a Vexilar was the dual beam transducer and ability to use the zoom anywhere in the water coloumn, the vex's only have bottom zoom.

The problem with LCD units not made for ice fishing is the display is adversely affected by the cold, it really slows down the colder it gets. The ice fishing units have a heater that warms the liquid crystal display to keep it functioning in the cold properly. I tried a conventional lcd for ice fishing and found this out first hand. At -20 it was all but useless.

  6. I did a lot of research and in store comparisons of TV's before I bought my new set last month. I watch a lot of sports including a ton of racing and I brought a DVD of one of the races with me to the store so I could compare the different units.

Even with 120 hz refresh rate LCD's I could see motion blur. I even noticed it on some of the 240 hz units. I did have reservations about glare on a plasma but I just thought I would close the blinds. Between this and the special coating the plasma unit I bought has on it's screen it is a non issue. I spent my $$$ on a good quality plasma and I'm happy I did.

I ended up with This Panasonic Viera TC-P50G20 50' plasma. After a month of viewing I can recomend it. :thumbsup_anim::thumbsup_anim:
