  1. Called the neighbours before lunch and found out that the power was restored about 9AM. All is good, no frozen pipes or dog.
  2. That only works when you are on town water. I'm on trucked water with a 500 gallon tank and pump.
  3. Current temp outside is -37C and -48 with the windchill. And my power has been out for 3 1/2 hours. The temp in my kitchen when I left for work was between -5C and -8C. I'm gonna be pissed if the pipes freeze.
  4. Don't know why, it's 15 seconds of crap. The only way it could possibly win is if they are cheating. I found out by accident that you can type in any email address even if it doesn't exist and it will add to the count. I accidently misspelled one of my email addresses and it was counted.
  5. Without the flasher how would I know where to drill in the first place? I clear a patch of snow off the ice, put my transducer on the ice and pour a little water out of a water bottle I bring along over the transducer. The water couples the transducer to the ice alowing me to tell what the water depth is before I drill. It also makes a big difference when jigging too. We saw a lot of fish that would come in and look but not bite until you teased them a bit. Without the flasher we would not even have known they were there. This probably accounted for 6 or 8 fish over the day. 25% to 33% of our catch was made possible because of the flasher. I have been out close to a dozen times this winter and only got skunked once and that was the first time out this winter and only because I could not get to the water I wanted to fish due to dangerously thin ice.
  6. Bunk Dead sticked cisocoes worked best but I also caught fish on airplane jigs and spoons tipped with shiners/smaller ciscoes. As for the flaseh......................you bet!!! Wouldn't go anywhere with out my Marcum LX-5. Still waiting on the mining ice roads to open for Trout Tour 2011 to start.
  7. Send some this way will ya? The trails suck up here this year. I was bouncing of rocks and logs on my fishing outing last Sunday.
  8. Been there, done that. Forgot to lock up last summer and some punk rifled through my car. He didn't take anything though, I guess he got scared off. He was caught breaking into another vehicle and it turns out he is the 11 year old son of a local celeb. The guy that caught him got his 11 yo son to dole out some street justice and then took the kid home by to his folks by the collar. Doubt he will do it again.
  9. And here's the proof!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkJednDFJGA&feature=player_embedded&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1
  10. Yep, toy parts ain't cheap. I had to replace the stator assy. on my '89 CR125 Honda for the nifty sum of $600 once. Wasn't too impressed either. Never had another problem with the bike after I replaced it though.
  11. Starting to. Just been trying different lakes. So many lakes so little time. So far this winter I have fished a total of 5 new lakes. I think I will be heading back there next weekend. Nah, no bailing for me. I already gots my plane ticket. Poike's are fer catchin', troots are fer eatin'.
  12. Already have plans for that. It's an easy 100 yard portage off the big lake. I want to head in there with my inflatable and see what happens.
  13. Yep, the oils off your skin will cause a halogen bulb to crack and die when it heats up. If you accidentally touch the glass portion of the bulb while installing it immediately clean it with denatured alcohol before using it.
  14. Any car audio/alarm shop will have them. Aftermarket actuators go for about $30 each then you need harnesses a relay and switch. I think I may have a kit around here somewhere. I'll let you know if I find it.
  15. Scenery isn't getting any bigger I'm just not blocking so much of it any more. I've dropped over 60#'s so far.
  16. Yep, get yourself a Yamaha. They have their "variable trolling system" which allows you to adjust the RPM between 650 and 900 in 50 RPM increments. Yamaha 60hp Outboard
  17. All were released to fight another day.
  18. Bet you don't. My favorite lake is 400 miles North of here.
  19. -16 and about -22 with the wind. 2 1/2 to 3 feet Jackets are for wusses!!!! Actually I just ran out of the Frabill to get one of the set lines. It's quite comfortable in the hut with the 14,000 BTU sunflower heater blasting.
  20. Got out to another new lake today and had some great action. I've been driving over this lake for several years on my way to other lakes and have never fished it..........until today. Todays target would be pike, and I had been told that this lake was a goodun'. Well I was not disapointed. We pulled onto the lake and picked out a fishy looking spot and drilled 1/2 dozen holes covering water from 6 to 15 FOW and dropped baits. It didn't take long before I got my first fish of 2011, a decent 30 incher. Shortly after this on I got another an inch or so shorter and then a few little guys. But the big ones were lurking as I had one attack one of the small ones I landed. My buddy managed this nice 36 incher as well as several in the 24 to 30 inch range and a bunch of smaller fish. I got a bunch in the 24 to 30 inch range as well as a couple of 40 inch class brutes. This big girl came on a tipup in the first hour of the day. And this leviathon came later in the day on a dead sticked ciscoe on a quick strike rig. She taped out at about 44 inches. Got plans to hit this spot again real soon.
  21. Power locks are a simple and inexpensive upgrade if you have some mechanical ability.
