  1. The West Arm muskies are very partial to black & orange Jer, both bucktails & spinnerbaits, and use the biggest ones you can.

    You got that right!!!!

My big girl came on a 3oz tandem spinnerbait black with orange baits.

I retired it after that fish. ;)

  2. Aluminum boats have there place. There alright for the 1 day a week calm water trips, Give them the Great lakes test 5,6,7 days a week, 8, 10 hour days, then tell me if you don't have leaks. If I had to do it over again, I would go with Harborcraft or Stanley, cost more, but are life time boats. Just ask yourself if you see big cruiser boats in aluminum. Most charter boats that fish the great lakes are glass. I had the head guy from Princecraft look at my boat and he told me my problem was wave action. I was in a company in Bradford that repaired aluminum boats, he had every make there getting fixed. A buddy of mine only had his boat 2 years and the bow folded up from waves on Lake O. If it gets rough, trolling speed only back to port.

Out on the West coast you will find an abundance of aluminum boats.

And HarberCraft/KingFisheris the right up there, though there are lots of other aluminum offshore boats and skiffs to be seen.

Wooldrige is another big West coast name.

  3. I pull my batteries each fall and bring them inside where they go on the charger to get fully topped up. I will pop them back on the charger every few months to fully charge them. You don't want to leave them outside over the winter if they are not fully charged or they will freeze and become useless.

If you take proper care of your batteries they will last for years.

If you ignore them and leave them discharged you will end up with short lived battereies that let you down. IMHO

  4. If you're going to be there when bass is open make sure you have bass tackle with you as there are some very good fish in the area. My 2 biggest bass ever were caught not more than 100 yds from the dock.

My biggest musky ever (all 53 1/2" of her) was caught trolling within a mile or so of there.

  5. If you are buying from a dealer they may have better rates. Read the fine print though, the lowest rates offered are usually for 2 or 3 year term.

This is true. My current vehicle I bought used from a Honda dealer when they had one of their financing deals on. The rate was 0.9% on new vehicles and 3.9% on used.

    FYI

5.6% is a pretty decent rate on a used vehicle.

You will be hard pressed to get better than about 8% through a bank.

  6. it is a big deal if they sent the wrong cork, which i believe they did. if you could see it in person you'd see how much larger the rear grip is than the fore grip and the reel seat. even with the tenon sanded the transition between cork and reel seat is HUGE! i wish i had a better picture.

It is not a big deal. As Solo said take a piece of 50 grit and hand sand it down to fit or just sand the tennon completely off and don't worry about it. Not really a big issue at all. You can also round off the outside of the shoulder for a better transition if you like. Start with 50 grit and finish down to 300.

It may be possible that they shipped either too large a diameter cork (1 1/8" as opposed to 1"). :dunno: :dunno:

  7. politicians and lampreys ( I know, not a lot of difference, but as we're leaving both behind, thats a moot point)

Don't forget to leave the lawyers behind too. :whistling:

As for the amnimals, anything that stings or bites (scorpions, wasps, hornets, fire ants, jellyfish, poisonous snakes, spiders)

  8. You can wire them both to the same battery with separate fuses/circuit breakers.

Personally I would use auto resetting circuit breakers (available at Napa).

10 Guage power and ground wire can be purchased at Princess Auto and car stereo shops. You may well be able to get it through Napa as well. I would just run them off your starting battery but if you find it wearing the battery down change over to the other battery. You really aren't running the riggers all that much so you shouldn't have a problem.

  9. Sweet looking ride !clapping.gif That little Merc look great!

There's something manly about a Merc, no matter how big it isthumbsup_anim.gif Upgrade your man card to a "Real Man Card"whistling.gif

When I repower it's getting 115 and 9.9 four strokes, Smartcraft guages and new controls. :D

Just need to pay off a few things first before I spend $15,000 on motors. :w00t:

  10. Dragged the boat out today and checked out the fit of the new kicker (thanks to HTHM adn Solopaddler for getting it and shippping it out to me) and I installed the new Minn Kota bow mount I picked up last summer for a song. :thumbsup_anim::thumbsup_anim:

Even better is I have someone that wants to buy my old TM for what I paid for the new one. :whistling:

The main use od the little Merc is going to be on my inflatable but will do double duty on my big boat until I repower the boat in 2013.

The new motors look good. :good::good:
