The WHO has posted that they no longer believe that the virus can be transmitted in an airborne matter. And furthermore asymptotic people are far less dangerous than originally thought. Their spacing guidance is now 3 feet rather than 6 and I even heard some articles begin to suggest that it needs to be 12!

At this point I don't believe a word that comes from the WHO.

They have screwed the pooch at every opportunity with their "recomendations"

And our leaders have followed their suggestions as gospel putting people at risk in the process.

All along they have been parroting WHO talking points and not acting in the interests of Canadians.

Thankfully they seem to have grown backbones and actually done what was needed to help keep Canadians safe, although in my opinion they were 2 weeks late on all of their decisions because of it.

I saw a video showing how far a sneeze or cough can travel in a grocery store. It was quite a bit more than 6 feet.

I wear a mask and gloves whenever I go into any store and use hand sanitizer all the time.

The one good thing is out Premier here in the NWT closed down our borders to non-NWT people except for truckers and essential traffic as well as closing non-essential businesses, banning gatherings etc. Because of this we have only had 5 cases of the 19 all related to travel. All 5 have recovered so we now have ZERO active cases here.

Thanks Fisherman, I am getting the patches at zero charge through the Ontario Gov. smoke cessation program. If you are in Ont. I'm not sure why you have to pay for them.

I quit cold turkey back in 1999.

It was rough but what helped me was sucking on extra strength fisherman's friend lozenges. 😁

I don't know why but they helped me.

OH, and the fridge will get you!!! Not now, but it will eventually especially after you've been off them darts long enough to get your taste buds working again. Food and drink never tasted so good as when I quit smoking!!! 😂

  3. Finally made it back out to the cabin after a long winter of sickness.
Still recovering from a really bad flu bug that hit me hard starting in mid January.

No commercially plowed road to the hydro power plant this year.
Only privately plowed and somewhat blown in after all the winds we've had.

Tons of snow has dropped since the last time I was out at the end of January.

  4. Finally got things together and was going to the cabin today but there was an issue.

I've been battling a fierce flu bug since mid-January  and haven't been out but once in January.

I guess the battery went flat and froze due to me not plugging the sled in for months and today I went to start it and nada. Even after being plugged in for a couple of days she was dead flat. 😪

Got a new one from CT and it's currently on the bench charging.

Maybe I'll get out tomorrow.  🙄

I can't believe that battery only lasted 12 1/2 years.

    Worthless piece of crap. :whistling:

  6. I put a Canadian Tire AGM battery in my Honda Pilot two years ago and will never use a flooded battery again.

They work way better in the cold than flooded and no spillage or off gassing.

I need to replace my TM batteries and they will be AGM.

I'm also planning on using AGM's in my solar power system out at the cabin.

And in the last 3.5 years neither did Trump. This is not a time to point fingers. The current situation is unprecedented. It is however front and center with many governments now that the impact is clearly known. Both from a healthcare and warfare standpoint.

H1N1 was in 2009. Obama had 7 years to replenish the stocks.

7 of his 8 years in office!!!!

  8. USB output is 5 volts. The only way is with a DC to DC step up transformer.

Look for one like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Step-up-Power-Module-Converter-Connector/dp/B01L6AJS1E

Be aware that the process of up-converting uses extra power so you will get lees available power from your bank to charge the battery.

You would be better off with something like this. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-eliminator-750a-lithium-ion-booster-pack-and-power-bank-0111906p.html

I have one and it outputs 12 volts as well as having a USB port for charging your phone and other small electronics.

Unfortunately common sense isn't very common any more. Sadly there are many instances of people not practicing self quarantine or social distancing.

My next door neighbour's kids just showed up yesterday from Fort Eire or where ever it is they live now and I looks like they are here for the duration, meanwhile they are out on the street talking to other neighbours, petting their dog...... Up until last weekend there was a bunch of them sitting in their garage drinking...... They run over to Timi's in the morning to get their coffee, some people just don't get it!

I just heard that a man that had just returned from France decided to go grocery shopping in Noelville (where he lives), the store is now closing so they can disinfect the entire place to protect other customers and staff.  JUST PLAIN STUPID and SELFISH!!!!

We have idiots here who won't comply either.

I know Mike and am dissapointed with him.

Hopefully they make an example of him because of this.

So maybe a question to everyone reading this, if this is all still going on a month or 2 from now? Not necessarily isolation but the social distancing, is anyone making plans for the summer? Not even just a fishing lodge, but a provincial park or other campground?

    Andrew

After 6 years away from my favorite fishing destination in Alaska I was planning to finally go again this year.

I have already cancelled my plans (it was to be September/October) as during the H1N1 pandemic in 2009 I managed to get it and spend most of my vacation locked up in my camper or it might have been tent still at that time.

This is much worse and the last thing I want to do is end up getting it.

Will be spending all my time at my off grid cabin in the wilds of the NWT where it's safe.  ;)

Talk about getting confused. I listen to the talking heads on the news and the Doc's in the know, then I listen to many of the politicians,  say the opposite.

Some provinces are giving big fines as well as jail time to those that think they are immune and wander around in stores window shopping. I'm not sure exactly which province where the 1st offence is a 5 grand fine and possible jail time and it goes up after that. We need that in Ontario in my opinion. Some duffuses just don't get it and I am all for throwing them in jail for 14 days.

CBC Hamilton reports that the 2 Rez's we have out here in Haldimand County are being barricaded in order to stop any non residents from going into their reservations. No more cheap smokes and 65 cent gas for a while.

    We barricaded our whole territory.

Only NWT residents and essential deliveries allowed in.

NWT residents have to self isolate for 14 when returning from outside.

We still only have 1 confirmed case to this point.

Been doing the same . Some thought it was silly . Not I says I . Even the package inside got a wipe down .

I didn't worry about that because it was in transit for nearly 10 days. Long after the virus can live out in the open.

Good thing is I have liters of first run hi test alcohol off my alcohol makin' 'quipment fer disinfecting stuff.  ;)
