  1. I saw on the news last night that even though the fire has moved away from Mac there are still fires and hot spots in town.

They said a house blew up yesterday damaging a bunch of other homes and also showed some buildings on fire in town.

It's far from over out there.

On a happy note we got a decent amount of rain overnight here in Yellowknife and it's cool and cloudy today. :)

  2. Check out Duckworth, Weldcraft, and Alumiweld. Built to last a lifetime. No rivets in any of these boats. Much thicker aluminum then what you get on the popular heavily marketed brands. A good used one can save you 10 grand on the price and it will sell last a lifetime.

I know where you can get a nice 30' Duckworth cheap. :whistling:

This was yesterday in Alaska. Someone pulled in front of the driver and he swerved to avoid.

    The rest is history. :(

  3. I agree that they refused because of the cost. 8 stiches to my business partners noggin in Lauderdale Fla. in 2006 $7000.00, if he paid other than credit card they would settle for $5500.00.

The other thing to mention re: travel insurance, most companies here that provide major medical benefits can cap out to a maximum. 1 bad week out of Ontario and you might go through a lifetime of medical benefits. When we had benefits upon retirement it was $80.000.00 lifetime. There was a payout for Air Ambulance to get you back to Ontario so Great West didn't have to pay it. I don't know about the union guys coverage.

Also check about going out of province. They don't have OHIP in B.C. You may have to pay up front then fight OHIP to recover it many months later. I don't have the best health record lately and Blue Cross only costs me 25 bucks a week to go south.

I purchase insurance from these guys when I go out of country.

Very reasonable. It costs me about $10 a week. :)

My insurance through work only covers 80% so it's worth the extra $$$.

  4. Some very lucky people there. Likely refused the medical attention to avoid the big hospital bill since were taken to the States.

    YUP!!!

Probably didn't have out of country insurance.

My dad was in hospital in Florida in 2014 for a day and a half.

    The bill was $17,000!!!!!

    Good thing for insurance.

Don't go on vacation without it as you could go broke in a heart beat!!! ;)

  5. A lot of mention of Geothermal in the article.

That is a technology that is truly in its infancy - even in comparison to wind and solar.

Sounds like a lot of pipe dreams in that article.

What is the carbon emission release on a standard home furnace? I can't imagine how forcing homes to go with electric heating will be at all economical!

I sorta understand the reason for the tax credits for electric vehicles (sorta, at best), but don't understand the benefit of forcing homes and buildings to move away from proven natural gas.

We had a water source heat pump when we lived in Grand Valley.

It was cheaper to heat and cool that house than the one we moved from in Mississauga and that one was heated with gas.

  6. Brian

Braking is generally 60% front 40% rear.

Doesn't take much to warp a rotor.

Come off the highway and brake to stop at a light but hit a puddle while braking and poof instantly warped rotor.

It can happen any time when braking. If you had a temp probe on your rotors you would be amazed how hot they get, even under light braking.

  7. There is no genetically modified wheat grown or eaten anywhere in the world, and it has never been on the market

You are correct, what I meant was the use of Glyphosate on wheat as well as other foods is causing these issues including gluten sensitivity and increases in Celiac disease.

  8. Say what you will, since they started with genetically altered wheat I have had issues with my health.

I now stay away from wheat products, but occasionally have some during a weak moment.

On Wednesday I ate some nice Italian bread, on Thursday I had to take the day off work due to severe cramps and acid reflux.

Prior to the 1980's this was not an issue.

  9.

I get on average 6 hours out of one.. what are the benefits to hooking them up parallel?

    12v 50# minnkota powerdrive v2

The biggest advantage is you will be able to run all day without drawing them down below that magical 50% threshold, thus extending the overall life of your batteries.
