  1. Based on last quarter showings in Canadian retail, Target is just one of a number of retailers that will be closing up. It was said some 2 years ago that the Canadian retail market was over saturated. Now that the economy is struggling, expect to see a major correction and a lot of empty stores.

A lot of people will be looking for work.

  2. Simcoe was once a whitefish factory in winter. Stories of my Grampa going out for a weekend, once a month, to bring home a bushel full. Gram would then get royally pissed, because she would spend 1/2 the night cleaning them and then Grampa would give 1/2 of them away. Of course, he gave them away because very few had a lot of freezer space back then.

I certainly remember going up to Orillia in spring for smelting at night when I was small. My job was to hold the lantern.

  3. Binbrook is day use only. The only other Conservation campground is Byng, on the Grand. There are a couple of private campgrounds along the lower Welland R. Don't recall the exact names. One is tied to Marineland, King Waldo?... The other is one of those Yogi Bear parks. There are other campgrounds in the Niagara area. Many without any water access. Erie shore campgrounds would not be suited to your boat set up.

  4. bigugli, do you know 'Jaci'?

She is a native lady who fishes Jordan Harbour/Hamilton Harbour etc.

She has taken 2 pike over 40" in the last couple years...photo's of both are floating around. one from each of the spots above.

She is the pike queen, lol.

Heard of her, but never met.

We hear of 40"+ pike every year coming out of L Ontario or L Erie

  5. Left whole, scaled and gutted. Rub cavity with salt and butter.

Make a standard poultry stuffing, but add a can of crab meat or cocktail shrimp to the mix.

Stuff the cavity and truss it shut. Drizzle lemon juice on outside.

Wrap in foil. Bake in oven at 350F for at least 20 minutes.

  6. We always figure that it was not that good if the tackle shops did not carry it.

That said, my son convinced me to buy a pack of OBO floats, because Italo said they were the best slip floats. Looked like a pair of lopsided dumbells They fell apart real fast

  7. Hi Mike, I had a Ford Windstar that we bought used, it was loaded and the darn thing would just not die. It was the top of the line loaded and we took that thing on many family trips and at first it was my wife's daily vehicle and then it became mine as much as I did not like the thought of driving a mini van I drove it till it did not make any sense to even fix the brakes.

When I finished my basement the things that we put into that thing to haul back and forth was crazy, the space was really nice to have when we need it.

    FLEX

The Windstar was a great vehicle, but the Freestar, that followed was a typical Ford lemon. After 2 years of the Freestar, Ford got out of the minivan market.

I've driven the Caravan, It's nice. A little under powered, but they seem to last.

  8. They have encounter groups for the more delusional amongst the Leaf fans.

Have to admit I'm a recovering Leafs fan myself. It's an addiction, but I'm getting better. I know the Leafs will win the cup some day, in some alternate universe. Just not in my lifetime. Certainly not as long as they can drag out some of the old relics that last held the cup

  9. If that were really true I would think their roster payroll would be a lot lower.

Having a bunch of lest costly players will put more $$$$$ in the bank.

Instead they are only $600K under the cap.

True, but in other years they were one of the cheapest franchises, still filled the seats, and played just as good a game, or better than, the current team.

If Leaf central wanted real bang for the buck, they'd give a couple of their darlings a swift slap up the side of the head. Newmarket used to be a great incentive to play better hockey, and it used to be that no player was exempt from that kind of dressing down.
