Judy insists on going to the show with me every year, and enters every free draw she can find. I just have to listen to telemarketers for the next 6 months
We have fun

Love the video clip of the little girl TJ. Is she the pride and joy you were just boasting about recently?

A machine well ahead of it's time. Great concept, but came out in 1926, just prior to the depression, when few would have money to spend.

You're trying too hard.
When you toss spinners for bass, you're fishing for pike.
Jig for walleye, you're fishing for pike.
Dangle pinner minnows for perch, you'll get pike.
There are pike specific lures and tactics, but with pike, everything is a pike lure.

Now you've dunnit. I think it's time I introduce you to my little friend.
You think I'm bad.
Say hello to Mongo

Folks usually go to find trout and pike. Hit and miss.

O.K. We both seem to have the kitchen bug at the moment...I was supposed to make cabbage rolls, but wifey decided to lop a chunk off the head of cabbage. So much for cabbage rolls. Instead we get cabbage casserole for supper tonight.
Tomorrow they get 3 bean chili.

Look at them perty fishes

Looks tasty. Pasta casserole was a staple fer us as kids, too. Usually rotini or seashells.

Corn critters, yum. I somehow can't face greens for breakfast.
Fruit at brekkie I like. Veggies? Think I'll pass. Not my idea of breakfast food.

No cholesterol here
At least that's what the label on the jug says.

I've talked to some parasurfers on Hamilton beach in December 2 years back. These guys are willing to travel 2-300 miles overnight to catch that perfect combination of high winds and surf and they don't care how cold it gets. "It adds to the rush".

Nothing beats a fresh caught plate of perch for breakfast.
Got out for some fishing yesterday, and it was slow. Only managed a dozen perch over the course of the afternoon. It was nice out. The sun was shining, the air was crisp and there was no wind.
Only brought a handful of keepers home.
Fresh perch and a corn fritter. YumYum!

Good friends, great scenery and fish to boot. What more can you ask from a trip report. You folks had fun.
Thanx for sharing

i must admit it is quite true for a LARGE part of today's youth and society but not ALL of us are involved! i try my best to play my country music loud my pants around my waist my boots tied tight and a fresh piece of straw to chew on all day long!
I was taught that men wear trousers and women wear pants. Music had meaning, and food tasted real. It was not wrapped in plastic or a box ready to serve.
As for the Y generation. Y not?

Looks like I'll run up on the Monday

Looks like a great time despite the lack of fish. You'll just slay em next time that's all.

For a blade with great flex it's the Rapala hands down. A good, durable knife. I've still got my first knife from 35 years back.
For bigger fish, however a blade with a bit more backbone is more suitable. For that I have a knife from Mora. Made next door in Sweden, they keep a very keen edge and hold it better when cutting through the bigger fish.

lowes might be a good store but lets remember that
HOME HARDWARE is a GOOD CANADIAN chain
Quite right. There are many great stores like Kala's, Minden, Gravenhurst, that carry everything and do all they can for their customers. Unfortunately our local store is a waste of time, so I have to travel to the next town.
Few can carry the inventory or selection or the price breaks.

You have to be really careful on that ice. Current flows make for some skinny ice. Lost a friend up there going through the ice many years back.
As for fish there's walleye, pannies, pike, for icefishing. The days of the lakers are long gone. Last one I know of was caught in the mid 70's by one of my cousins.
On softwater, the lake has weeks worth of water to discover. I'm a little biased. I grew up in the area, and my uncle's place was on the lake.

you guys been doing so much fishin over there if you drill any more holes you will have that whole area opened up pretty soon
looks like a good pot of stick to your ribs, belly warming food to take the chill off when you got home, it's been freekin cold, was out in the boat with Dan yesterday afternoon for some trout action, stopped off for a couple casts after we got back to the dock and everything was insta-frozen big time.....opted to stay warm today.
I am going to have to get out there with you guys soon, and you are going to have to get out in the boat with me if it ever gets above -10 out
The temperatures are really hard on the boat and motor right now. Day temps have got to come up 5 degrees.
It's so cold that every new hole will fully freeze out in 2 days.

Cute little fella. Yep, he's ready for fishing now.

I have 2 different Jack Russell crosses. Lucky is a Jack x Pappillon I found at the shelter. An abused and emaciated little dog, she saw and chose me. She sheds very little.
Peanut is a Jackapoo. Another low shedding mix. She is the fish thief. Both have the most amazing personalities
Don't discount the dogs at the shelters. Most are there for all the wrong reasons. They just need to be loved.
Now this is an Ice Hut
