sorry should edit** i meant if anyone had broken the lower half of either rods and are willing to part with the top section. thanks
-
so was out today in the afternoon and was dead for the most part, just before leaving i saw a nice section of water and opted for one more drift... half way down the run float goes down.. fish, after 5 min or so i have the fish near shore and snap goes my rod... sucks to happen just before opener. if anyone has a top half for either the raven 14' im8 3pc or the 13' frontier mx i will buy, let me know before opener!!! the devil fish that snapped my rod.. also if anyone knows who to talkto/send the im8 to for repair or replacement a pm would suffice, thanks in advance!

"How else do you suggest I handle a fish for photos? Steelhead, especially smaller ones are nearly impossible to tail, which I'm sure you know, and I make a point of avoiding the actual gills every time." I suggest you handle them like every respectable steelheader, unless you hands the size of baseball gloves i dont think its that hard to subdue a fish lol on a mor serious note. there are plenty of appropriate ways to handle fish regardless of size, no matter how careful u are not to touch the gills them selves im pretty sure the gill plates take some damage either way. im pretty sure the gill plates arent there for a handle. just imagine someone holding you up by your throat, completly baring all your weight. it might not kill you but sure would hurt wouldnt it? as for photos i realized over the years that the best looking shots are the most natural ones, fish in the water kinda stuff. that being said there are ocassions when ill pose with a fish but would handle them extra careful. its all common sense really,

just wondering if anyone here wants to hook up during the day tomorow for some pike around scarborough, know of a couple of spots that produced last week. pm me or add me on msn [email protected] btw* anyone here about a body being found at the ganny today???

heres one from today, pretty in pink?

actually those might actually have been real fish.. they stock chinnies and browns at the bluffs as a put and take fishery and they do return and from what i noticed over the years they come in later than river fish. time to hit up the rocks =D thanks for the heads up.
-
spent the day getting lost on a local trib, walked atleast 10km seen one clean chinny, suprisingly no dead ones, and well.. 100s of chubs. still a nice day to admire the majestic colors of fall. \ didnt know where i was for the most part.

I envy you sooo much right now =P nice fish

Different techniques when fighting river salmon using centerpin vs spinning
l2p replied to a topic in General Discussion
i use 8 lb main and 6 lbs fc lead with a hmx which is a fairly light rod and its handled 30+ lbs salmon, its not just all about having back bone, playing the fish right also plays a role in succesfully landing your fish. next time a fish goes under a log dip ur rod tip in the water and pull out that way istead of just pullin the breaks and breakin ur line. just my 2. -
^^ fish are in, just go look for them. btw, if a fish dies of natural causes would person be able to keep the fish? i found atleast 6 dead females which were all fresh and full of eggs. figure just take those eggs so dont have a kill one.
-
how bout this one?
-
i currently use a 13' frontier mx and it has seen more car doors, trees and bridges than any other rod i have and its still takin a beating. i've also been using it year round(carp/steelhead/salmon) from when i bought it 3/4 years ago. simply put, perfectly satisfied.

heres one caught while piking a couple years back.

^^ correction, not all tribs still have steelhead up. fished an east trib the other day worked our way from up river all the way down and found 5 fish in a 6 km strech of river. alot of fish are happily swiming out in the lake.
