Well i had a great trout opener, hooked a ton of fish, landed a few of them. I was not one of the hundreds i saw fishing the spawning fish, snagging and ripping fishing from the reds... Managed to get my new PB Steelhead, beat my previous by about 5" and 5-6lbs... No clue how long it really was, or how much it weighed, but it was a big boy!! Hope everyone else had fun out there!

Agreed, someone who can play high minutes with Phaneuf...prices must have been high for the types Nonis probably wanted...

haha oh i hope you didnt think i wanted Vanek over JVR....JVR is hands down my favorite leaf I was just trying to point out that Vanek has been one of the very best goal scorers in the league for the last decade...

Really? .....reallllly? 8 straight 20 goal seasons, two over 40.... Look im no Vanek fan, but JVR had nothing on him until the last two years....

Even for a UFA its pretty cheap They traded Moulson and a 1st for Vanek, then turn around and trade Vanek for a 2nd and a prospect... Garth snow should be fired....

Thanks HTHM, I think i will be putting the MicroWave Guides on the next build, they seem to have great reviews. I have seen the talented rod builders on this site, and its exactly why i started to build my own....Not quite in the class of these builders but I'm getting better each time. Its very fun, very addicting...maybe if my next build is worthy i'll post it here.

Hey Gary, Awesome looking rod.... What colored blanks are those in the pic there? Looks awesome, i want to do a white one for my girlfriend and that white pearl is a sweet looking color. And just wondering, Is that reel ever coming off the rod? Is that what you meant by cutting off all the threads after the reel was mounted? One more question, i assume that you used the microwave guides on this rod, any experience with them, or is it your first build using them? I was going to put those on my new crappie rod but wondering if its worth it or not.... Thanks

agreed i didnt have much hope for the second lake...im camping on the deeper one. Ill try to located them with some trolling....sure would be nice to find a bunch to jig over as well.. Thanks for the tips.

Hey everyone. Planning a trip to the Kawartha highlands in mid august. I know the lakes Im going to be on both have both small and large mouth, plus 1 and possibly both have lakers. I think i should be able to figure the bass out easy enough but as for lakers Ive never had the pleasure of fishing for them before. Both lakes (Bottle and Sucker) are small, and not to deep, sucker has maximum depth of 30' or so, while bottle is around 70' Any tips of locating and fishing the lakers here? I assume they will almost definitely be on or very near the bottom in both of the lakes. I will have a flasher unit to use, Should i try jigging tubes in the depths or what would you suggest? Thanks anyone for your help...and if you have any specific information about bottle/sucker lakes feel free to message me.

Ya, I constantly hear people raving about this show.....i turned the channel after 5 minutes, booooring an wayyyyy scripted... Maybe ill give it another chance but first impression was terrible

I guess Lind was there back in 08 as well... These guys had nothing but good things to say about him http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/2012/11/20/brady_lang_jays_arencibia_gibbons/ I hope this works out, certainly going to be an easy scape goat for the fan base if the team has a slow first month or two...

I think only two.... Cassey Jansenn Jason Frasor(although he may sign elsewhere) Why does that matter though? Gibbons is / was respected manager when he was here. HE isnt afraid to take control of a situation when needed, just because we have new players doesn't mean they aren't going to respect him as well... Listening to his former players rave about how much they liked playing for him sure helps me believe that this guy is going to be a good fit here....
