  1. Well Wayne, I was waiting for several weeks for few people to reply to my PM's but decided while still waiting for them to post in the general forum as well. Appreciate the idea....checking into Tremblant right now. Will figure out something about the room I am sure, optimist by nature Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  2. It'll be our wedding anniversary this December, so naturally I thought what better chance to combine some ice fishing with possibly a sky resort experience for the whole family. Considering the "ski element" it'll probably need to be in QC direction Is it possible to reserve something for few days, say.....between Dec. 24 and January 2? From what I've read on the bonjourquebec web site QC's: "An ice fishing trip in Québec will net you mainly walleye, yellow perch and pike. Redfish, cod and turbot are common in the Saguenay, and you're likely to catch rainbow and speckled trout up in the Laurentians." Not been familiar with QC geography hope someone can help with spots where the ice fishing and ski mix in relatively close proximity. And walleye ice fishing is just what the doctors prescribed me for this ice season Any how....hope for some constructive ideas/suggestions as the clock is ticking on me and it is time to book something soon...figured there must be some Quebec ice fishermen here that also enjoy skiing that are willing to help Cheers, Ice FIsherman
  3. Well no question Steve knows his Simcoe perch... I was going to go out Sunday as well but changed my mind because of the high winds forecasted....oh well I should have known better not to listen to the weather guy... Good catch guy, I am sure they were delicious Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  4. What a nice guy Shane was! Fished with him on hard and soft water...always fun always pleasure to be near him. Helped every one and was ready to help anyone. Wish the best to his family...you can be proud with him! Ice Fisherman
  5. I have one on my trailer and love it. Been using it for 3 years. Works great no problems at all with it. The only way to get my trailer in the garage Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  6. Thanks for the reply guys and Yes I know Wayne will do great job so I am waiting to hear from him on this...in the meantime I am trying to figure out how to remove the main floor area as I don't see any screws hidden in the carpet in that area...I do see some screws in the casting deck area though...so that part might be easier to remove but the main one will probably be a challenge since I have no idea how to do it...so if someone has ever removed the floor on Lund Pro sport please let me know how to do it while waiting for Wayne. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  7. I might have few rivets that need replacement/repair and would appreciate your advice as this is something I've never done before. All of them are on the "bellow water line" part of the hull (front part of the boat), so it will not be easy getting to them from inside... Can rivets be repaired to make them tight again to stop leaks or do they need to be replaced? Any place in the west side of GTA/Oakville/Milton/Burlington or North West as well that does good job for not too much money Yeah I know...not easy to find such .... How easy is to remove the floor myself (Lund Pro Sport 1700) so the rivets guy only do the rivets and I do the removing and putting back together of the floor? What is acceptable leakage from rivets on aluminum boats? Do they all leak somewhat and how much is too much? What do people charge for that kind of work? Say I remove the floor and they only do the rivets? And then it they do all the work including floor removal and re-installation? Anyhow....as you can see I could use any and all info on rivets in aluminum boats. Hope Wayne and others who know this subject well can share their knowledge. Thanks. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  8. Sorry I miss you Joey as we were in the area as well. I can see the Ministry has taken samples from your Chinook too Didn't see the pipe guy but got to see Bob Izumi going in Too bad for the sunk boat Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  9. One more time to the Blue Zone today with my neighbor (bass fanatic)[] Tougher fishing then Friday....tons of fish but very warm water and they were not as active...every once and a while we got a flurry of activity and triple header and double header few times as a result,.. Again mixed bite spoons and flies dipsy and riggers...One King only, bunch of bows and few cohos....very poor catch ratio though[] My neighbor was getting enrolled into the Guinness book for the most fish lost in a day[][] Ended up 12 for 25....let some bigger once go and kept few smaller....still had tons of fun though...thanks for the company George Next trip - Port Burwell for the long weekend....hope the eyes are still around... Few shots from the day: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  10. Well got tired of waiting for the Ontario wind to ever go down so took my chances this afternoon and headed to the BZ. The usual team was ready for action (well after their 2 hours sleep in the boat that is;-) They did miss some of the action again...and my best ever King...who said there are no big Kings in the BZ??? This one stopped my Berkley scale at 33.5 Lbs....it was quite dark...got few more smaller Kings and bunch of Bows biggest one 14 Lbs. Fishing the BZ today was tricky though, not the way I did it numerous times last year...water was like tea pot....74 degrees on the surface and 69 degrees 90 feet down....found the only spot on the lake though ;D that had 56 degrees 80 feet down and fished and fished it and fished it some more....10 for 12 for the 3 hours we were there....let the bigger ones go get bigger and kept few for the neighbors... Spoons and Atomik flies did the trick with the flies getting the bigger fish....got a big mess while fighting the big King as waves were quite large pounding me hard and with no one to help steer the boat....well lets just say I've lost some Power Pro and I've had to cut half of my leadcore (and stopped using it after that)... Didn't have who to take a picture of me with the big hog, so I took few while fish was in the net...in fact it never left the net until released...had to weight it above the net too....wanted to keep it as lively as possible as it took me more than 20 min to get it in the net... Anyhow....no ticket for the derby so probably missed few coins but oh well...will buy a ticket next year 8-) Here are few Blackberry shots I managed to do despite the not so easy fishing conditions Hope this board works better with Photobucket this time.... Here is the big guy first: The big bow: The rest of my team getting ready for the action: And the ones that made it home: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  11. Any moment now in the next week to 10 days...with the rain today it shouldn't be too long but I was also surprised how nice clean and silver all fish were yesterday. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  12. Got my regular team assembled quite late in the morning (they were not easy getting up;-)[] and decided to go check how the Kings/bow wtc. are doing on Lake O....seemed a small window with not much wind was opening after the constant blow in the last 3 weeks...especially on weekends...by the time we launched and passed the break wall we were into some large rollers...there was almost no wind but the damage was done by the Easterlies all night...oh well...scrapped the plan of going to the blue zone and stayed tight (80 - 90 fow) and trolled with the rollers...non stop action...12 for 15 was the final score...mixed bag at that....Kings...bows....and even Big fat brown...lots of action...size was from 5 to 23 lbs(and one shaker kids wanted to keep)...mostly spoons and mostly on riggers but the fly on the wire dipsy did some damage too...fished 75-85 feet down, East and West of the river. Let the biggest ones go and kept few for desperate friends [] hahaha Needed some heavy action after the last two trips with Arnie to Port Burwell... Haven't given up on the BZ but may have to wait with the forecast showing more wind/rain,,,and why bother going 12 miles out if fish are like 1 mile out[][] Here are few shots from the day: My trusted team left me alone in the beginning and for the most of the day I was like fishing solo battling the waves and netting/controlling the boat[] Eventually the little one got up just on time to see the brown been netted: And the "back at home shot" Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  13. Nice seeing you at the launch Tony...tried calling you on your cell to see how you were doing during the day but couldn't reach you...oh well...next time, the show is just starting Cheers, IceFisherman
  14. Nice photos (as always) Joey Not sure how we've managed not to bump into each other been so close today Oh well...must be because we were a bit busy figuring out how to get to the boat some of the serious fish we've got today ha ha ha Next time Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  15. OK, just to add the "supporting photo material" as George has summed it up nicely . Just one small correction (George is forgiven here) but the big ones and most of the fish caught today were Chinooks (not Cohos). You can see that on the photos bellow. Next time we'll start with a on shore crush course on "recognizing your fish" first For someone who doesn't do this (like me bi-weekly) he sure did great fighting some pretty good size monsters All big ones went back in the drink swimming nicely only kept few smaller ones that are now in the brine for tomorrow smoking session Anyhow - enjoy ....pictures don't do enough justice to those nice/silver/healthy fish.... Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  16. Sure is./....hockey coach as well...and now my very good neighbor... Small world....and it rotates I guess Cheers, IceFisherman
  17. Finally! What two trips they were.... over 20 fish caught on Friday night (Brian/Slowpoke can add his take on that part of the trip;-))) between 5:30 - 9:30 (stayed until 10:30 but bite died)....and again on Saturday morning - over 20 fish caught as well.... Mix of bows, cohos and Kings....with some of them pushing 20's...40-60 feet down in 130 fow... Spoon bite mostly...everything was firing....main lines and cheaters as well... It was about time to have a trip where you hardly sit down ha ha ha... Few shots of my neighbor who came with me and Brian on Saturday morning despite the rain(first time trolling on the Great lakes)...was he all smiles and happy ;D Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  18. hahahaha Mike....correction made Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  19. Didn't know it...but what better person than my wife to do this
  20. Well, have never tried it but have seen other doing it so maybe it is my turn to learn Could someone give me a crash course on how can I modify my Lund 1700 Pro Sport boat into tube towing machine? I have a seat mount at the back on the raised platform right between the two live wells...it would be great if I could make use of it in some way.....maybe there a towing pylon that is made to fit into the standard seat mount? Anyhow ...all comments and advice are welcomed and needed Should add my boat has kicker motor mounted to the left of the main motor. So not sure if I can use the two U-shape bolts/tie downs mounted to the transom? Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  21. Got a visitor from UK and had to get him into some Simcoe fish....early start....even the littlest one was on board.... .......some on my team couldn't take it for very long: Still managed full limit on whities for all....missed huge number of fish...most bites on Meegs and some on Williams...got to get some new Meegs from James hope with better hooks... Lots of flies but still good time by all... Did an hour of trolling for lakers and got a huge one on....got away breaking my 20 Lbs fluoro leader and took my NK28 lure with it to the deep...oh well...second big laker I am missing trolling Simcoe this year. Only got those two pictures on the BB, others have the rest on their cameras. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  22. Here is another great day on Simcoe....much better weather than last Tuesday...fish was tough bite but with a bit of work we still got easy limit for all three of us plus bunch more released and lost. The crown of the day was my son's very first white fish he pulled all the way up from bottom to surface and Chuck just put it in the net nicely...but Jordan did all the reeling and pulling....though he sure got his work cut for him...didn't give up and managed to complete the job with flying colors ha ha ha....it did help that he just woke up after 3 hours sleep on the boat right before that[] Few of my favorite shots of the day: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  23. We were jigging all day....funny thing was...as we were getting ready to start trolling the bite got really hot so we changed out mind in a hurry and stayed Well Steve, ha ha ha as unbelievable as it was even to me I got two lakers and missed few more...all in a frame of couple hours after chasing them unsuccessfully all winter.....fisherman's luck I guess Cheersm Emil
  24. Got tired of never ending Ontario wind and took our chances with first soft water trip to Simcoe for the season. Nice first thing in the morning changing to quite ugly after 10am...we fought it through and won My son and a great friend of ours both took part...ended up a bit wet, bit cold but quite happy and with much better experience than sitting on the couch Understandably the whities were waiting for us as I told them last day of the ice season but 3 nice lakers complimented the count for the day....the biggest one at 12 Lbs. Lost track of all that we lost but never stopped having fun.... Good start on the soft water on Simcoe while waiting for the big boys to show up on the North Shores of Lake O. A shot of the day for your viewing pleasure: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  25. OK, First trip for the soft water season - everything works great including both motors and my new Depth Raider....all electronics etc. Started late....kids took their sweet time....what a nice day out there...first time on the boat with both my boys and me alone (without their mother). That test also went well, so we are all ready for the upcoming boat season Both had plenty of laughs, play, sleep and everything else in between...even managed to lose couple fish at the net ha ha ha Oh well there were plenty for loosing and keeping few... From 9:30am until 10:30 was the best bite...then is slowed a bit with the wind changing to NE...we hardly went deeper than 20 fow...body baits on flat line and leadcore did the damage...had one rigger down but there was nobody there As I said we've lost few fish at my new (HUGE) net...it was too heavy for Jordan to hold...let few more go...and kept few for my new smoker.... Here are few shots from the day.... Jordan got tired after holding this one for the picture so we skipped the rest of the photos Both kids are asking me when is the next time....so I am sure it must have been good day for them as well Cheers, Ice Fisherman
