  1. Fishing a local pond for some crappies. We allway's have got a pike rig sittin out. But never have we landed one this big outa there.... My buddy got it dead stick'n a huge chub on a spinning rod. Wow!! What a scrap!! 42" length and a 19" girth... Lovin this first ice..
  2. I was out today too. 5" of ice in most places, with about an inch of wet soft ice that will freeze up nice tonight..
  3. Hit a local pond over the past couple of day's and just thought I'd share the excitment....
  4. Well I've ruled out the One man ice armour (tent style) unit. But now stuck with the decision between the Fish Trap Scout, or the Pro. Any info on both units would be great. Thanks guy's!
  5. Completely agree with Meely. Had mine for 5 years now and wont leave home without it. Vexilar has a new site now for only icefishing and it will really help you understand the vexilar unit. icefishtoday.com I think.. Good luck.
  6. Born and raised London and St.Thomas area. But looking for my long lost parents on the best Pike fishing lake in the north. They own a lodge....And a brewery....and they only employ young beautifull women (that love to clean fish). Four snowmobiles, two quads and an Argo..... Holy crap I gotta snap outta this. It's start'n to hurt... Cheers!!
  7. Great job man! Also on my bucket list. Pretty hard to find around here though. Congrats!!
  8. 5-6" of ice your set though. Couple warm day's should'nt get through that. Good luck. Cheers!
  9. I got pic's of the bluegill's but it saying there too large... I'm pretty new to this but I'll try and figure it out.. Ok, no I got it... lol
  10. Thought I'd try another pond this morning but to my surprise it was wide open. So I toured back to the firs spot. Same spot as 2 day's ago...4" of ice. Walked out about 20ft and it was just under 3". Decided to fish the 4"' ice (tough decision) and landed about 20 tiny bluegills and one perch. The whole pond is completely covered and some crazy $%#%^r zipped accross on a snowmobile. We'll have to see what the next couple of day's will do to us.. Cheers boy's.
  11. Yep. They pretty much covered it for the tackle. Only thing I could suggest is to remember if your fishing 15 fow make sure you try the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10ft marks too. You could be fishin at 10ft and there is 3 crappie at 7ft that will not come down to gulp your bait... Good Luck Man! Cheers!
  12. LOL Haha, good for you buddy! I knew you were not going to wait any longer. It's too tough to just sit and stare. Great vid's. I did'nt make it out yesterday but I'm gonna head out right now. It's been -10 here all night with no wind. Thats like IceMak'n Heaven.... Cheers!
  13. Foots doing better. Still in the cast though. So I can get around. Just slowly. Im gonna head back there tomorrow morning early. This pond only produces crappie early in the morning and just before dark. Just gett'n ice fishin was a hell of a treat, but I want a nice crappie lunch. Cheers
  14. Oops! Sorry 'bout the photo's.
  15. Well I had to do it. I hit a local pond this morning (off the dock) in search of some first ice crappies. All I found were a couple of largemouth that came into the Vexilar screen like a rocket and smoked that little jig.. Did it ever feel great pulling the ice fishing equipment out. Great day! Cheers
  16. For panfishin I tie dirrectly to the tiny jig, 100% of the time. Those bluegill's and crappies can be pretty finicky most of the time. For bigger, game fish it's perfect to use a (small) snap swivell to make it easy for quik changes.. Cheers!
  17. Hey Johnny. Someone else told me that the Vexilar soft pack will fit as well. Im head'n to springwater right now for some crappie. You interested???
  18. Ohhh yeah!! Sounds great. Thanks for the update.
  19. Ooops!! My bad. Look'n at the wrong spot..lol Probably wishfull think'n..
  20. Thats awsome!! I just went to look at my favourite little pond close to my place and the whole thing has a layer of ice on it. I get so anxious for icefish'n every year, the first sign of ice I head to this pond and plop my self down on the dock and pop a couple holes. Tomorrow morning I'll be slying the crappie and givin the Vexilar the wake-up.. (from the dock of course...) Wont be long now!! Cheers.
  21. Oh wow!! To see that ice gets me sooo excited.. Please keep me posted on how thats goin.. I've been playing with my ice gear for the last three weeks and I'm only five hours away..
  22. Great job. Bringing the fly rod down that way tomorrow. I got a broken foot so I'll be look'n for level ground to stand on. Again, nice fish man!!
