  1. It would be a whole lot easier to name the one lure that didn't disappoint me this year!
  2. The wife and kids would kill me if I filled it in! I like the looks of it but it's a little underwhelming; a maintained puddle at best. If it isn't too much trouble to maintain, I might consider expanding it. I think surrounding the deck on two sides would be nice. I have no use for a dog pen or putting green, the little fence is coming down. The previous owner was kind enough to remove the doggy landmines from the pen when we pulled up on closing day but we'll do a sweep in the spring to be safe. You don't need a pond to enjoy a few bevvies in the yard! I'm not sure of the depth. I would guess around 24" at the perimiter and maybe 36" in the middle. There appears to be a few 3 gallon pails in the middle for plants and they are well under the surface. We know not to feed them right now but have to figure out when to start feeding. I'm thinking there's an optimal water temp that triggers them. I think the plants will be harder to maintain than the fish! There is no heater that I'm aware of and it does have a bubbler. PowerJet 600 moves 600g/hr. We leave the bathroom window open for the same reasons.
  3. New sign ups have been added. Check here: http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...t=0#entry423060 Check what team you're on and vist the discussion forums to introduce yourself to your team! http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showforum=48
  4. We just bought a new house and moved in last weekend. It has a small pond in the backyard with 6 or 7 koi (I think) swimming under the ice. The only thing I know about maintaining this pond is to keep a hole open through the ice. If anyone has some words of advice or handy links to share, it ould be appreciated! In bloom
  5. Without a doubt, aluminium for mobility. It will also perform better with a 36lb electric and/or 5-9.9 hp. The only use I would have for a glass boat is if it was moored at a cottage and propelled by oars.
  6. Just two more people needed for this round of team selections. Two more people for ten teams of eight. I'm not asking you to donate a kidney. I'm not asking you to help me move. It's free to join and you have a chance to win bragging rights. You can't put a price on that.
  7. I think I'm gonna take a pass this year. I suffered a total and complete whoopin' last year and I don't think I had a chance to see an entire race. This year isn't looking much better! Have fun boys!
  8. Need 5 more for another round of team selections. That would give us 8 anglers per team.
  9. Check the roster for new recruits; ten selected and two on the list for next round of selection.

  11. I think you're pretty safe to navigate the extra 100 yards or so to Lakair from the bridge but you can call ahead and we'll wave you in. Most of the West Arm is covered; the worst of it anyway. Beyond 64 into West Bay is pretty easy going. If they couldn't map all of it, at least they got the worst of it.
  12. I'll second the Hotmaps. The downside is it doesn't cover west of 64. Apart from that, good detail to the east. Don't rely 100% on markers. Keep an eye out for older versions; I believe 2008 covers Nipissing. You might find it new for $80ish. The 520 is a nice machine. If you want to poke around with it, Lowrance has an emulator online for it. If you require manuals for it, they should be online but I would be happy to send you copies from my 522. Same unit but internal GPS antenna.
  13. No problem, it's my pleasure. If I play my cards right, I might even get my 2010 OFC membership for free!
  14. 2010 Tournament teams have been selected. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39531
  15. WHEN: We have enough participants to select now. Rosters will be posted by Thursday morning. HOW: Participants have been numbered in the order they signed up (currently 1-50). When selection starts, we will use a random number generator (www.random.org) For example: Team 1 - <click> 28 = tjsa Team 2 - <click> 38 = worm dangler ... and so on. Subsequent dispersals will be done in the same manner in groups of 10 until the June 30 deadline. If you haven't signed up yet, do it now! http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39531
  16. We need a few more people to set up teams!
  17. Just a few more participants needed to pick teams. We have all the captains in place. Sign up now!
  18. "It's on like Donky Kong!" Full contact fishing is wayyy more fun than handing the rod over to the guest! As for April, I'm in but my boat won't be ready. We'll have to take yours or show up at Dan's place with a coffee... "Hey Dan, whatcha up to? We were in the area and thought we'd drop by."
  19. The tourney is open to all regitered members. If nothing else, it might get you fishing for species you normally wouldn't fish for. You don't have to have the most submissions, biggest fish or the most combined team inches to win. If the tourney gets you out one more time than last year, you've won!
  20. For fans of the car show "Top Gear", a couple lines from the test drive will surely get your imagination running. "I've got 120 horsepower in this; you don't want any more on marble." "Aye, look at that! The smoke grenades fit perfectly in the cup holder!"
  21. If you want to participate in the 2010 OFC Tournament; Read the rules here: http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39532 Sign up here: http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39531 We still need LOTS of participants and a few captains. I am moving next weekend so I hope to have enough entries to setup teams in the next few days. There is no immediate deadline to register. Feel free to bump this post if it drops off the first page!
  22. The message is follow through. If you're trying to punch a guy in the nose you stop the punch when your fist hits the nose. If you "aim for the back of the head", you don't stop at the nose.
  23. Welcome to the board! As far as fighting goes; my father trained self defense in the militia. He taught me some submission holds that later paid off working in bars but the most importent advice he offered was "aim for the back of the head". You don't have to be big or strong, wait for your opportunity and follow through. I've been on the receiving end of nard shots, eye-gouging and hair pulling; when you're in survival mode that is just antagonizing, not debilitating. I wouldn't go as far to say it's a sissy move but I would advise it. Conserve your energy and make your stike count.
