I'm in Kitchener. If CS doesn't call me back tomorrow I'll give them a call again.

They checked the system and said that the price is set from corporate. The manager at the first store said he'd give it to me for $44.95, but then when we went to look for them, it was the wrong product in the box. I then went to another CT that had stock, told the manager there everything and she wouldn't give it to me. She said she couldnt' deviate from the pricing in her system!

Is the ferry running? I wouldn't mind going down to TO for some fishing this weekend,.. but even if the fairy is running, don't you think that island bays would still be full of ice??

I was browsing their website and noticed that they had hip waders on for half price, $44.95 regular $89.99, so I went to a local store that showed inventory. When I got there I discovered that sizes 8,9,10 were on sale but not the 11. Now there is no premium for the size 11, they are all the same regular price, why would they not be on sale? It seems like I'm being discriminated against because of the size of my foot! I called their customer service and am still waiting to hear back from them about why this might be. Is this something that goes on often? Do other places do this? I've never noticed this before. I realize that some of the larger sizes have premium prices because of the extra material that may be required, but when they all have the same sticker price, how do you put one size on sale and not the other? Andrew.

I definately have to concur that it is a greaty show. I've also been following it since episode 1, and all tho it does get a little wacky at times, there is always something there to keep you coming back for more! As for catching the episodes online, downloading the bit torrent client is definately an option, but I also believe that CTV's website has the episodes on their for online viewing. Joey - I didn't catch that, and I'm not sure that it is actually "Baby Aaron" it sounds more like Jack doesn't want to come around because maybe the baby is Sawyer's??? I haven't seen last nights episode yet, but it should definately make for some good watching this weekend! Andrew.

I was also a little dissapointed, as it looked like a good show. However, I believe there are 2 different history channels I think there is the "History Channel" and there is "History Television" one being Canadian and one being American. This show was obviously in the US. This happened with another series they aired last year called Ice Road Truckers about truckers driving the ice roads up north. I managed to get those off of a bit torrent site, so I would assume this one would be there also. Andrew.

I'm thinking of heading up near Goderich on Friday night, can anyone give a report on the current conditions? I"m thinking either 9 mile, Maitland or Ausable. Has anything started running up yet? Or any other tribs where they are running? Thanks. Andrew.

Alright, I realize the report is extremly late, but better late than never right? We arrived early Saturday morning of the labour day weekend. We stayed in Picton @ The Sportsmen Motel. This was an excellent motel that was clean and even had a small kitchen in the room. THe only thing I found somewhat unusual about it was the fact that the room had no phone. Having never really been in the area before, we had found Foster's Fishing Center on the internet and ended up mooring the boat there for the trip. It was amazing how low the waterlevels were and that they seemed to drop even more overnight! Most of our fishing was done in the Telegraph Narrows and other areas nearby. Saturday's fishing was extremley difficult. We caught about half a dozen silver (or white) bass but that was it. We lost what looked to be an albino/silver Pickeral right at the boat. We were on the water from about 7am til 8pm. Sunday morning had us going out in very heavy fog, once we got away from the dock visibilty was probably about 10-20 feet. Having never really been out in a boat much in the past I was actually a little concerned. We very quickly lost any sense of direction, and without a map we were in disagreement about which direction shorelines were (N,S, etc) Then I remembered that I had brought along my GPS unit and left it on most of the day yesterday so we were able to follow our old track. The GPS definately saved us a lot of time for the first couple hours until the fog lifted! We started the day again fishing small inlets and weeded areas for bass or pike and we never had a single bite. I think the reduced water levels probably had a big effect on the fish. We left the narrows and were fishing some choppy water mid afternoon when I caught the first pickeral of the trip. Also my first ever and obviously my PB! We also caught a few perch and some more silver bass while fishing this area. Maybe someone can tell me if these are in fact silver or white bass? After trolling another area later in the evening we caught a few small pickeral and the only smallie of the trip After another 12+ hour fishing day we pulled the boat out of the water and headed back to the motel for my first pickeral meal! Damn was it ever tasty! As you can see that fish was more than enough for 2 people. It measured somewhere between 24-27" and weighed 3.5-4LBS (can't remember exactly a month later). Regardless of the lack of fish, it is definately great to get out on the water. As a shore fishermen it was definately a great experience! Andrew.

I don't think that the spines are actually toxic, however they are very sharp. It seems the smaller the fish the sharper the spines. Maybe they are saying they are toxic because if you get a gash from one, i'm sure you could get an infection fairly easily. As for the handling, all I've ever really caught are bullheads so they aren't that big. I usually put a couple of my fingers underneath there spines on their sides, so that the spines will come down against my fingers, but they can't jab me. The palm of my hand usually rests just before the spine on the top. I've yet to be gashed by one. (knocking on wood) Perhaps there is a more ideal way of handling them, but this is what has worked for me. Andrew.

As someone who rarely posts, I've been reading these threads and think its amazing that you were able (and Kareem) to get out one last time. I'm sure this trip made a huge impact on him that he will be forever grateful for. That being said so will you. I know it is extremely difficult to watch a friend suffer through a horrible disease but I think the fact that you were able to get him out and even take on that responsiblitiy of having him so far from home speaks wonders of your character. Although I was a lot younger when my buddy was battling cancer I really had a hard time seeing him at all and dealing with it so basically I didn't. I was lucky enough to see him the day before he passed, even as the shell of the person he used to be, his spirits were high to the end and I regretted the time I didn't spend with him. Life is too damn short and we need to spend all the time we can with friends and family! You and Kareem are definately in my thoughts. Andrew.

Thank you for the replies on places to stay, unfortuantely Merland Park didn't have much available for the long weekend. I've basically narrowed it down to a couple places, The Sportsmen Motel in Picton or the Bayside Motel in Trenton, basically my question now is fishing wise, which would be the better locales? We'll be targetting a mix of fish between pickeral, bass and northern's.. Is one location better than the other? Lastly, has anyone stayed at either of these places and can you offer anything good or bad on either of them?? Thanks! Andrew.

Hello all, Looks like I'll be taking a trip to the BOQ Labour Day long weekend.I guess this is fairly last minute but I'm looking for suggestions on places to stay. Basically all we need are beds, and I guess a fridge would be a nice bonus, but no frills, just a place to sleep. Probably Belleville area, but any suggestions would be more than welcome! Thanks, Andrew.

As a canuck, it may seem sad, but MGD has to be my beer of choice! I really haven't found much that stacks up with it. For some variety I don't mind Rickards Red, or a Moosehead.. Andrew.

Thanks Seaweed. Looking forward to the trip, and if the fishing is good I'll probably end up spending Saturday night there as well... hopefully the weather isn't 30+ again this weekend!

Hello, This weekend I have to drive down to Ottawa and on my way back I'd like to do some fishing. Can anyone recommend any good places to stop? I'm not sure if I'll be going up Hwy 15 or 416 off the 401. I'm actually headed to Stittsville outside Ottawa. I won't have a boat so i need to be able to access it by foot... Thanks, Andrew.
