  1. TEMAGAMI FIRE CHIEF JIM SANDERSON HAS JUST SENT THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE...

MNR fire has notified me that they are putting
Temagami on Evacuation Alert. People should be prepared to leave if notified of an evacuation. If people want to leave on their own they need to go North as per MNR direction
The emergency community group is being activated and meeting shortly
    Thanks
    Jim

  2. Letto look at finding a small apartment in Stratford.

You should be able to find something around the $800 mark. At that price it won't be in a newer place or fancy. Maybe a walk up above stores downtown. Public transportation is available in Stratford.

Lots of work in Stratford so you will not be without a job unless you don't want to work. Many of these jobs will start in the $16 to $18 range. Factories in Stratford are bringing in workers from places like Sudbury, BC and Newfoundland due to worker shortages.

  3. As for some of the places you listed?

Atwood there is absolutely nothing there. Will need good transportation to get anywhere.

Stratford at that price & location will be an old ran down place. Also on a very busy main Street.

Dublin is about 10 mins from where I live. Place may be not bad but right on a busy highway in a place with nothing. No public transportation.  Virtually no services either for shopping, medical ect. Work opportunities there are almost zero but lots of work in Stratford about a 25 minute drive away. Better have your own car.

Of the places you listed some may be not bad but in out of the way places & others in larger towns being far less of deal but with more services and some places do have public transportation.

  4. Lord Letto those prices you posted in most cases mean nothing.

Unless you see the place and check it out completely they just could not be livable unless your happy with a dump needing extensive work? Or maybe right beside a train track?

    Listings are not always accurate.

Fixer upper generally means total gut job.

  5. What boat do you have and what's it's maximum rated HP?

As Bill stated you may be able to improve your hole shot a bit but top speed will not be effected much. Also IMO stainless props on that size of a motor are not necessary. It's generally with the bigger motors where prop flex becomes a issue.

  6. You may want to look in the Seaforth area. (icluding other small places in the area)

About a half hour to Bayfield or Goderich on Lake Huron.

London and Kitchener about an hour and Stratford and Goderich about a half hour drive.

Prices are quite reasonable here compared to larger places.

The reason we bought here was you got far more house for your dollar here.

I'm not sure unemployment in Chatham-Kent is driving down the housing prices, it must be due to other factors:

Actually unemployment has play a big part in the area.

Many of the good paying jobs disappeared a while ago(15-20 years ago).

Good paying jobs in the area have never rebounded to the previous levels.

Real Estate prices dropped and has not fully recovered.

Many of the workforce has moved from the area which reduces the local unemployment rates.

1/2 hour from London and 1/2 hour from Windsor.

Old Ironmaker you may want to review those timings.

Over an hour from London & pushing close to an hour to Windsor.

2 hours aprox from London to Windsor. Would be nice to save a hour by routing through Chatham but for some reason I don't believe that would work.

Times will vary some depending on start and finish points in each city.

Going back to the original post, is it confirmed that ALL O.P>p officers can enforce MNR regulations? I was under the impression that it was only the marine units that could enforce SOME of the regs. Like, mostly the safe boating regs. Anytime I have ever read anything to do with poaching, it always seems to be handled by a CO. I have seen CO's work with the marine units as well but I have never heard of a traffic cop providing a citation for an MNR regulation.

I have been looking when I have a bit of time to see if I can find anything that supports the OPP officers enforcing the regs and I haven't found anything yet.

Here's your answer found in the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

    Section

87 (1) The Minister may appoint a person or class of persons as conservation officers for the purposes of this Act. 1997, c. 41, s. 87 (1).

    Same

    (2) The following persons are conservation officers for the purposes of this Act by virtue of their office:

    1. A police officer or First Nations Constable appointed under the Police Services Act.

I was fishing out in Gbay when I got pulled over by the OPP, I told him what I was fishing for and he said they were out of season.  I had to bring up the regs and show him that the possession season was over, but I was still legally allowed to fish for them until the end of the month.

OK Bill you have to explain this one to me.

First off there is no such thing as a possession season that I know of.

There are daily catch & possession limits.

Daily catch limits have seasons but possession limits do not.

Do you mean the season was open with a 0 daily catch limit?

Catch limits are fish allowed to be caught & retained daily.

Possession limits apply to fish you have on hand or in storage, in transit or anywhere. No season on possession limits. But if caught when a daily catch limit is zero you can not retain them as part of your possession limit.

"Do I look like an MNR employee.? " Conversation over

Your response should have been " No you don't look like a MNR employee but you sure look like a Conservation Officer. By defination all Police Officers are Conservation Officers in Ontario. Are you refusing to investagate a violation which falls under your legal juridiction and in front of you"?
