  1. mid-June this year, the fish should be well on their way to spreading out into their summer haunts, though they will likely be shallow, shouldn't have to go deeper than 20. I have no experience on Horwood specifically, but don't be shy to try very shallow water in mid-June (4-8 feet), and if you're experienced with jigging artificials, you probably wont need bait most of the time either. Husky jerks and split tail/paddle tail baits account for my most of my walleye this time of year!

  2. Yeah, I live in Northern Quebec (Ontario border) and the whole 'northern fish don't like scented baits' thing is a complete load of crap. I fish a bunch of lakes ranging from gin clear to dark-stained, and Gulp minnows work fantastic absolutely everywhere I've tried them at some point or another. If you know how to properly fish them, you will do well.

Also, this thread is 5 years old.

  3. Very interesting read, but there's a staggering amount of variables to consider here that are really tough to quantify, not the least of which is how the angler is handling it while the fish is landed. I still see a ton of people letting their fish flop around in the gravel and beer caps on the bottom of their boat, hold them up for another 30 seconds of picture taking and then firing them back into the water harshly. I'd like to think my release mortality is considerably lower than those boats, and the younger generation seems more in-tune with sound fish-handling techniques, but they're still the minority out there on any given day.

  4. Cool check my freezer it's full of haddock and halibut no skin will they know ??what type of fish it is??

Just stating the rules, man. You could keep your limit and give it to family and friends everyday and not be in violation of laws but if you have 10 walleyes in your freezer from a few different trips you're in violation. Enforcement is tricky, kinda hard to get around that.
