  1. This could be ancient news for all I know, but was there not at one point a 'hook-ups' forum on here? I was looking for it earlier today, and realized I hadn't noticed it in quite some time. :dunno:

So I guess what I'm saying is, I had a guy cancel on me for a trip tomorrow to the Hwy. 118 corridor to do some troutin', who wants to come? :Gonefishing:

  2. Well, it seemed nice on shore... whistling.gif

After her first ever ice trip last weekend, and first 3 subsequent fish, I didn't really have a choice about taking her out again this weekend. So off we go to my one of my most frequented spots on the mighty Nip, to find cold temps and blazin' winds. Good thing it was a short trip.

    The smile says it all...

She pulled out two of these beauties in short order while I was having a hard time scraping up perch and some mightily small walleye. And at long last, not 5 minutes before dusk, I coax a large walleye right to my hole, only to have the treble catch on the ice shelf and watch him swim back to the deeps. Revenge was in my grasp, but I fell short. Not that I mind... thumbsup_anim.gif

  3. Chad, if you put the camera down you might've caught something...

Should be fair to say that everyone had an excellent time. Nice to see a bigger turnout and slightly better fishing this year.

Obvious thanks to Blair for being an excellent host yet again. And nick, what time did you get that ling at? I was hoping to see you get one.

Added a few more herring and walleye to the weekend tally this evening.

  4. Cache Bay is typically quite shallow, but I would imagine it holds herring and perch. Any area with 15-20 foot sand flats will have roaming schools of jumbo perch, but if you want a more mixed bag I would go father south until you start finding deeper water (25 +) and structure (waltonian reef/manitou islands)

  5. That wind was brutal. Lefroy was about the same, countless dinks with keepers few and far between and only a small handful of jumbos. People are starting to venture out close to the main lake now, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Cedar point had no more than 3 to 3.5 inches today.
