30 cars parked tight together on 12 inches of ice...what a gong show.

They had some fantastic singles, but they were best enjoyed in a full album setting. One of my favourite bands...

Fantastic. Venison has got to be my favourite game meat, and rainbow definitely among my favourite fish.

Tons of ice out there for pan fishing...
-
LOL.
Everyone seemed hellbent on giving you a hard-time. I bet some folks are bummed to see such a positive report. Good on ya for having a great time and getting some fish.

It's been a proven point that the more money governments have the more they waste....you actually get a better bang for you buck when they have less to waste.
Do you really need to turn this into an issue of government spending?

I can't get over just how many truly huge fish you are pulling in up there. Fish of a lifetime for many, each one of them. You must just be lucky.

Awesome. You will not want to fish 'blind' again.
I always used to laugh when people would say that, but in many instances it's not far from the truth.

Yeah yeah...I was hoping the video would've illustrated the flasher a little more.

So I had a great day of perchin the other day [plus a decent fleury of walleye at dusk] and decided to try and get a bit of it on film. This being my first official trip with my flasher, I couldn't believe the difference it made in understanding the mood of fish. Given that I spent most of the day on the ice, I was even able to see how the reaction to certain cadances changed throughout the day according to sunlight. Even with the perch, the difference was very noticeable. I hooked an easy mid 20's inch walleye after having to raise him nearly 3 feet off bottom before he committed. He got off at the hole, but that was a fish I certainly wouldn't have coaxed into hitting had I not had my underwater eyes.
Anyone know why the screen shows up like this on video? The solid lines seem to disappear on film.

the bad winter low snow levels will have a huge impact, not only on resorts, and snowmobiling business the water tables in the forest, disease, low water, forest will be dry lakes will be lower, spring will be earlier, there is massive impacts and yes global warming is here for sure,.....i was watching a segment on the news the other day about just this topic in ontario and what will and has happened even if we get alot of rain in the spring it wont be enough 70% of the great lakes water source is the snow pack !!!! i didnt even know that till they said that on the news and levels were almost record low last year it will be alot worse this year for sure, the asian bettle will survive and the insects will be insane this year as the winter kill will be alot less,it went on and on ....outlook is get used to it cause it will soon be the norm !!!!!!
Mainstream media feeds on fear and worst-case scenarios, and more often than not their stories are far from 'scientific'. I do tend to agree with most of what you mentioned though, and I'm sure most that spend anytime outdoors would agree as well. People need to realize that warming trends and weather patterns on even a 100-year scale are minute in terms of geologic patterns.

Welcome board. You definitely have one of the best usernames.
I wish I would've been as creative...

Next week I plan on getting into one of those greasy my mom hates me. I nominate you and your GPS co-ords...

That's some slow fishing. Usually Shawn's huts are more productive than that. Good to hear you had a good time, regardless.

Now that is truly a family day report. Nice specks!

Just how tiny are these micro guides? I can't imagine them being too small to be able to fit a back to back uni through it (unless you're using thick line).

President's are an excellent bargain. I've been using mine year round for the past 3 years and it's yet to let to me down. The drag and anti-reverse have been 100% flawless, even in the absolute coldest of conditions. It's seen braid, mono, and even fluoro and handled them all fine.

Not bass fishing

Good fishing. Definitely a productive lake at times, but can be very slow, not to mention it's quite large.

Thanks for the excellent replies guys. Still tons of ice season left for me. This is usually the time I start shifting more to trout fishing. I plan on putting these great tips to use starting next weekend.

Good goin'! I spent sunday ice fishing Quinte. Got a keeper and lost 2 monsters at the hole. My buddy was there yesterday and caught about a 2.5 lb steelhead all the way up by belleville.

Why are plastics so expensive?

Just think about how much of that money is going into marketing it right back at you.![:wallbash:](https://ontariofishingcommunity.com/uploads/emoticons/default_wallbash.gif)
As far as I know, there's only a very small handful of companies distributing most soft plastics (pure fishing and the like) which hold exclusive distribution rights to all the big chain stores, making it much harder for smaller, burgeoning companies to have any real sort of impact.
