58 degree water? That is absolutely nuts, and find that hard to believe. Nice pike though!
-
Talon Lake might be a good option. Cheaper than some of the options you listed, and I doubt you'd have a problem catching walleye and pike. The only thing easier is the grouse hunting.
-
The Atlantics run in the fall...but people are dragging their nets right where the redds are. Considering they keep this lake closed for Lakers and Atlantics for 358 days a year to protect the Atlantics, you'd figure they put a little more effort into protecting the only river in which they spawn.
I do agree, but they are no redds in the lower stretch where the smelt fishing is taking place...at least not in the deep, slow pools where the netting takes place.

The creek you're talking about is a sanctuary for atlantic salmon spawning exclusively as far as I know, so the CO's tend to be relaxed about smelters going there. It certainly gets a lot of smelt.

Nice brownie. Absolutely beautiful down by the lake. Quite rare to see it quite so calm.

ATTN MODS:.....sometimes some or even ALL of us need to get out an do some FISHING because we are what we are........why not have a thread limit on ANY kind of threads to keep our male hormones levels down here on a daily bases.....I would recommend 50 post per thread.....just something to think about......Just saying....
Gone FISHING 3 time in my boat............
Bob
I wonder how many times you've done this now....
You make extremely unsubstantiated comments (often offensive). You then receive well-deserved rebuttals, blame it on the 'young-un's' then cry to the mods for everyone being in a sour mood.
Why is it out of line for someone to question whether or not the fish were taken legally? Seems perfectly sensible since it IS being posted on the internet for all to see. I'd hope that OFC takes all measures to promote ethical, legal fishing practices, and this is a prime example.

Never caught an atlantic that fat. Those little brownies are absolute footballs.

can we please get some competition around here for them
There's a SAIL about five minutes away...

Beautiful fish. Great report. This year is definitely the earliest I've ever hung up the ice tackle.
-
Nice report, but is it just me, or does the last pic look like an Atlantic?
I thought the same thing...but it is a brown. I've found that some will not have as many spots, making them look more like an atlantic.

Spent the day casting for pike, while battling the mightiest of hangovers...

Some food for thought...Some of you should really take this article to heart.

I like cheering for Montreal, but you won't catch me getting upset over those bunch of goons, let alone throw around childish insults because someone said something wrong about your favorite little group of millionaires

Egg sinker, bead, swivel, 2 feet 20lb fluorocarbon, 2/0 circle hook, middle of a big old dirty creek chub.
Yep! heavy lines, big hooks, and stinky meat. They're not shy

Well, I know you can purchase individual topographic maps for your navionics chips, so maybe buy yourself one of the chips that includes Simcoe and go from there? It's a big investment but I assure you you won't regret it.
-
If the only place you're fishing is directly under the boat, then yes...
-
Lookin' lonely out there...
Boy did the ice ever go quick. Nice perchies.

Yup, that's a good cover
The ambasador album is great! They have a new one out but I havnt heard it yet
Days into Years? I absolutely love it, maybe my favourite one yet. If I Get Old might be my favourite track by them yet.

I keep forgetting to remember to bring spare socks...... Just in case.
Good one. I also don't think I've ever had a pair of sunglasses last more than one calendar year.
-
It still sucks
-
I guess you're a 'sucker' for a good story...
-
Was watching some steelhead spawning in the upper reaches of a Lake O. trib today... No suckers yet. Water is still quite cold.
-
ps. time to make up some snares while the snow's still down...

Beautiful shots. Those waxwings are among the prettiest birds ontario has to offer.
Most stupid thing you've heard while fishing,

I don't mind. I make sure they know that there definitely isn't, and that they tell all their friends.
