That's exactly how I would do it, I saw a thread about that rod somewhere when it was built
-
Save the wood add some rubberized cork to the cap Brady, just addded 2.50 oz of lead to the ass end of my 13.6 RV9 was a little tip heavy, but not now, very nice build by the way.
I think that's probably what I'm going to do. I had to counter weight this build a touch as well, the Spey blank is a little front end heavy.

Did you try Ernie?
Not yet, will do right now
Thanks

Will do, does he carry Batson stock?
I build my own rods, so no issues there... I could repair it, but replacing the section is preferred.
-
Just give Batson a call or email and if they won't cover it under warranty they will sell you a replacement.
Email is out to Batson, that's the first thing I did hopefully they come through for me.
Thanks

Calling all rod builders... Does anyone happen to have a tip section for a Batson XST float blank (2 piece, 13')?
The part number is XST1562-F.
I didn't receive a receipt when I purchased the blank, and I doubt the warranty house at Batson is going to believe that for one minute.
Thanks!

Thanks Mike

When I was a kid I used to catch a ton of them in the local flood retention pond. Awful fighters, but a fun way to kill an afternoon when you're 8.

Apologies for the focus issues, I was using my sister's DSLR and I don't have the first idea how to make it work.

Update on the build:
Rod is going for a final thin coat of flexcoat this evening, and it will be ready to fish.
Still debating whether to add some rubberized cork to the butt cap - I like the all wood look but it makes it somewhat impractical for leaning the rod up against a tree etc. Don't want to wreck the wood...
Some pictures:
Can't wait to put a bend in it!

Trilene XL, but I rarely catch anything...

In a few years, the weenies might finally catch up to the 8 pack of buns...

It's neat, no doubt about that.
Would I carry it around? Not a chance.
I'll scoop, I think.

I'm still struggling to understand the root message of the movement, it's unfortunate but there seems to be a fairly significant number of "bandwagon jumpers" that will protest any cause they can sink their teeth into that disrupt the true message from coming through.
As a University student I'm finding a number of my peers have latched onto the cause and are attending rallies, but when asked they can't seem to really explain what they are protesting...
-
Dude, you can't compare a site like that compared to a full blown custom site, lol. That's like comparing an ugly stick and a custom IMX. Sure they are both rods, but that's about all they have in common.
For sure, but for the simple site the OP is looking for you can bang out a good looking site really quickly without breaking the bank on a web designer.
Another positive is you've built it, and you can fix/update etc. at your leisure without destroying the whole thing...

I was browsing through the Jann's Netcraft catalog lastnight and noticed the Garbag.Something you guys might be interested in.
Interesting product, there are a few things like it.
Problem is that lighter feathers like marabou just float around and land where they please...

It's so simple it will blow your mind, and after you build one yourself you will see just how much people are being ripped off by web designers.
www.squarespace.com will get you the full package, you will have a professional looking site and you don't need to know a SINGLE piece of code. It's literally click and drag.
I built my last site in a single day, it's really that simple.

As always there is misinformation on both sides of this one...
-
Never mind... Need to know more about the issues at hand
-
Maybe it's because I've never had much to protest about, but I have an extreme lack of patience for any type of protest that interferes with the daily responsibilities of other people.
Demonstrating at the side of the road is one thing...demonstrating ON the road is entirely different.
The race, nationality, occupation, sexual orientation, or favourite fishing lure of said protesting individuals matters not to me. Protest or demonstrate for your cause all you want, just don't stop other people from doing the things they are responsible for doing.

If I'm taking a big chinny for roe a fillet knife through the spin right behind the head dispatches them quickly..
Wait a minute Bill, are you telling me you actually drag that thing home?
I thought standard practice was to slit while alive, dig the roe out (mind you don't poke yourself on the 2/0 treble you used), and "release" it back into the river!

Yup...he got his phone out, took his glove off to use it...phone was soaked, didn't work.
That part got to me too.
Exactly the reason my phone is always in a ziplock if I'm wading big water or on the ice. I've been swimming a few times on the river, and my phone always survives.

Ahhhhh
My bad....
Sometimes things can be interpreted differently online....
Sorry kemper
...
I didn't understand what you were trying to say, until I read what I wrote back to myself.
Dang interweb...

I drove by that river today and the rapids up river were crazy.... With extra flow from a thaw like this these small rivers get chewed up fast...
One of the fan boats went by me on the highway. I imagine it was on its way to search again.
I drove by this area in my boat on Saturday and there was a 4 wheeler and a snowmobile parked on the ice.
I would imagine that someone driving past in a boat would signal to those on the ice with heavy machines they might be testing their luck?

Although that type of graphic on fishing rods doesn't appeal to me personally, it's excellent work!
Very cool, thanks
