Probably should have mentioned that's on my heavy stick - on a lighter rod that wouldn't see leads over 6lb I would definitely give a lighter test a try.
-
I run the 12, and find it to be perfect. I wouldn't go with anything less because I often run leads up to 10lb ultra green (and that stuff is strong!)
-
I deleted my history and can now see the board on my pc (windows 7, google chrome) but when I login I get the fatal error message.
-
Can't access the site on my PC, I assume because it want to use the skin that doesn't exist anymore.
On the plus side, I'm running the IPS app on my iPhone and its working nicely.

With the goaltending situation in Toronto the way it is, it will be nice to see them win a game never mind the cup.
Riemer and Scrivens are a real 1-2 punch.
What's that, Luongo you say?
Yeah, that'll help

I checked the ice at the end of the island, as well as the east side of the island and right in port perry - found it quite inconsistent still. Lots of sled tracks, but I wouldn't be on it with any machines yet...

Was stalked by a big black bear just outside of Whistler a few years back. Seemed to be odd behaviour, just followed me down a path for probably 5 minutes, not threatening at all - seemed more interested than anything else.
Unsettling for sure

Should have checked this before I posted - thanks!

Looking to get out for some pannies tomorrow, anyone been out yet?
Won't be more than a short cast from shore...
Safe? Ish? Swimming?
Cheers

10lb Nanofil is by far the best line I've ever used as a mainline for floatfishing.
As well as having no stretch and being round like mono it floats like a cork. The only downside, and it's a big one, it cannot be used in sub zero temps. It gets literally shredded by any little piece of ice stuck on the inner ring of your guides.
Many people hate Nanofil because it's not very abrasion resistant and that's true. But used strictly as a mainline for floatfishing in above zero temps it's the best.
Below zero 8lb or even 6lb Fireline Crystal is the next best thing imo. Not quite as slick and castable as the Nanofil, but stands up well in sub zero temps and also floats.
'nuff said.
Fantastic stuff, I first tried it after fishing with Mike and haven't gone back to mono since (except in sub zero)

I'm glad you got it resolved and I think contacting HQ is a good idea.
Seems like a no-brainer... they weren't activated so you couldn't spend AND you had the receipt.
This is the kind of customer experience they want to avoid at any cost because IT DOESN'T COST THEM A DAMN THING!
I suspect your complaint will get some internal attention.
Took 3 days for the cards to be "approved".
I told two employees exactly this "There is a simple way to solve this problem - you hand me a new gift card, and YOU figure out why this one doesn't work"
No such luck...
-
Problem has been solved, though much too slow for my liking.
Never meant this thread to bash on sail, as I mentioned I'm a loyal customer and this was the first issue - had to do with some gift cards that weren't being honoured because they weren't activated in their system (I had all receipts with matching #'s)
At any rate, I now have my gift cards activated but will be sending an email to head office because I wasn't impressed with getting the run-around from everyone I talked with.

Assuming they are farm raised, yes very legal.
There are also lots of fish markets that sell bass that are not farm raised - this probably isn't so legal...
-
Should have mentioned that I like Sail as a store, and this is the first problem I've had - it's just a rather large one.
Thanks for all the info ill let everyone know how it goes
-
Haha, I would like to say I'm not surprised on that one..hope you get fixed up Kemper, not trying to start a bad thread. If it's a warranty issue on gear try me, might be able to help.
Mike
Not a warranty issue Mike, but thanks

Hey OFC,
Looking for a contact at Sail - preferably someone who has more power than your average customer service rep.
I'm really unsatisfied with the way they are handling (not handling) my problem in store... I won't air it out here, unless taking it up a level gets me nowhere.
Tired of being passed around from person to person, need a # or email for somebody who will help me.
Cheers,
Braden

So if I'm fishing late season in really cold temps do I have to warm up the rod more often, should I tape hand warmers to it to keep it warm, or put a wool sock over the handle?
What about ice fishing rods? I hope I don't look like a tool whipping them around on the ice to keep them warmed up.....
Burt
Don't warm up your rod too often though, I hear you'll go blind!
-
Yes yes, warming up a rod.... That's the ticket..... LOL. OP, there is nothing wrong with an okuma or a clarus for that matter. Either will work well! The nice thing about clarus is they are 4 piece. I have been chasing rainbows for over 25 years, and some of the over complications I see guys getting into these days makes me laugh my butt off! These rainbows aren't terribly hard to catch once you have the hang of it! I see fellows running fancy Florescent line, then "shot leaders" and then leaders etc etc, and agonizing over float and hook selection to the point of ridiculousness. The truth is steelhead fishing has become a fashion show! Any of the factory stuff available today easily bests most of the high cost custom stuff from when I started out, and I am still fishing some of that stuff 20 plus years later! I have 2 clarus rods, a 13 and the 11'3" for my son. I have them for the trunk factor, but I wouldn't feel put out by the okuma I can tell you that! Heck even 2 piece streamsides are lovely rods for the $100 outlay! Enjoy your new pole, but don't over complicate the sport. They are beautiful fish but they aren't rocket scientists!
Bingo.
I fish custom rods because I enjoy building them, but I promise they don't help me hook any fish.
They're only fish, and they aren't nearly as hard to catch as people think.
I'm still blown away by the rod warming up thing...
-
I warmed up the rod for about 20min. And man my arm is hurting LOL and I bent the rod and it bends really nice didn't want to go to far just in case...I like the weight and feel of the rod I am going to keep it and give it shot...can't wait to start practicing casting with it
Uh...
ah nevermind.

Sounds like we went to the same school of Hockey.
One of my favorite coaches once taught us the 5 fundimental rules of hockey "attitude"
Which to me still give me that pregame chill...
Rule number 1...Keep your head up.
Rule number 2...Never let your opponents forget rule number 1.
Rule number 3...Thats YOUR puck and you should be mad when they have YOUR puck.
Rule number 4...Play with in the rules and mind your temper (there are no good penalties.)
Rule number 5...Keep your mouth shut and keep moving, let the coaches do the talking.
I don't think anything there has changed, every coach I ever had gave the same speech.
At the same time we were also constantly drilled with "no hits to the head" no matter what the circumstance.
When I was 16 I got ripped from behind, crosscheck-head-glass goodnight. It's not a great time to wake up on a stretcher, so I guess that's why I think twice about any check to the head (opposing playing being a dumbass with his head down or not).
When I played, I'd have just taken the puck from that guy and put it in the back of the net
-
I've had one for a year, IMO all the bad press is simply bad press. Great little machine, and has lasted longer than many others I have seen
-
If it was the other way around, and a Canadian boy was getting carted off in a stretcher I bet there would be a lot less "got what he deserved"...just a thought.
Maybe I'm too new school
-
The G-man was too busy checking his skate laces.
I saw that as a clean hit and did not deserve a penalty let alone an ejection.
One of the on ice officials even told Camara that it was a clean hit.
The other, the elbow to the head was deserving of a penalty.
Canada needs to step up their game big time.
The first period was embarassing and they didn't really step it up until the second half of the second period. They need to play the whole game like that if they want gold.
I've played hockey my whole life, and would NEVER step into someone that hard when their head is down. I hope anyone I play against would do the same...
I'm not saying you don't hit the guy, but to blast him shoulder to face at full speed...doesn't seem like the greatest idea.
At the very least, our boys need to remember that the international rules are different - clean or not that is going to get called 100% of the time in IIHF hockey. The stupid penalties need to stop if they want gold.

Hey guys, so this morning my dad gave me an awesome gift! We're going (my dad and I) to whistler sometime next year on a fishing trip. We'll be staying at the fairmont whistler. As far as I know we'll have a rental car. We are planning on having a guide the first day and then to explore the rest of the trip. A few things that we need to know are: What is a good guide service in the area? What would the best time of year be to try and get resident cutthroats, steelhead, and salmon (apart from winter)? And what is the best salmon/steelhead river within an hours drive of whistler? Thanks!
I fished that area a few years ago with a guide, on the Birkenhead river. Ill pm you with some details.

Sometimes I'm too lazy to run a shotline, and the lighter stuff doesn't take well to having lead on it.
