  1. Guys, regardless of any sort of politics etc... Can you blame anyone for trying to make an extra $ these days? Times are tough all over. I will say that I know Bob Devine personally, he is a very nice guy and a very good fisherman on any body of water. I have gotten to know Bob over the last year and always learn something from him every time I talk to him. that says volumes, I am an experienced angler. Whether or not you plan to use a guide service you should still send Bob a line if your planning to fish the Detroit river this spring. I know Bob would be more than happy to give you a few pointers or starting places. He is just decent like that. Eric
  2. Just which locals? I live as close to Mitchell's Bay as you do, and unlike you I took the time to walk out there drill a lot of holes, measured them, talk to almost everyone who was fishing, and make a video of it... the ice is almost entirely uniform at 4.5" + every where we checked. It is easy to be an arm chair ney sayer but I suspect this is just sour grapes from you for being banned on our board. Merry Christmas Mike. PS: Mike is correct, walk and carry a Spud on any early ice.
  3. Check this out guys!!!! If you need to get out on the hard water here is some good news!!
  4. Hell Yes! It was one of the hottest colors we tested this season. Here is some fish porn
  5. Day 3 results http://www.skunked.ca/viewforum.php?f=55
  6. Wind and weather panned this weekends results but many smaller fish were weighed in. Get out and enjoy some Lake Erie Sport Fishing at Port Glasgow for $20 for your whole crew, or you could win some great prizes or $$$! Click here for day 1 and 2 results: http://www.skunked.ca/viewforum.php?f=55
  7. Thanks we have caught some hogs out of Port Glasgow the last 2 years, I make fishing tackle and test most of my new stuff there, it is a very quiet friendly port. This is the first year for the derby, it is meant to be a family fun event. We have boated no less than 19 30" walleye this summer the biggest was 38" and over 14 pounds. The walleye fishing on Lake Erie is awesome but in my opinion the bigger ones seem to hang around the central basin near Port Glasgow. Here is some more Glasgow fish porn
  8. Folks the Port Glasgow Derby is i full swing lots of action so far despite the high winds and crummy weather. Where else can you buy your whole boat in for $20 for a week long derby and catch limits of big walleye and Rainbow Trout? For rules and detials click the link. http://skunked.ca/viewtopic.php?t=4968&start=0 Here are some fish taken on the Reel Nauti from the week before the derby.
  9. The walleye are starting to show up in numbers now @ Port Glasgow here is a pic from todays trip.
  10. Are you for real?? Sure casting for them might sound mor sporting but you only need one to peel off a couple hundred yards of line while trollling to get your blood pumping and that's a small one. You need to spend some time up in Belle River and get an education on trolling for huge LSC musky.
  11. Another good Day at Port Glasgow. Happy Canada Day!!
  12. That is a wonderful report!! I fish the Bluffers myself and plan to be there a lot this summer way to go!!
  13. I was an entrant in a tournament in Northern Michigan where the winning 5 fish were found to have been pumped full of clear silicone.
  14. Chrispy the fish have defnately started in Wheatley and Erieau. My feild tester the "Bag Man" has been fishing up that way. He says the fish have been moving in and out a lot at Wheatley and he usually finds them around the point close to 40 FOW. I still prefer Port Glasgow it is a small quiet Port but you only need to head out a couple miles and your on the fish. I find if you miss the fish at the other 2 ports you burn a lot more fuel finding them. If I had to compare the fishing at Port Glasgow to another port for convenience I would Pick Bluffers Park on Lake Ontario. The distance you need to travel to good fishing is comparable. Port Glasgow has 3 modest launches and lots of good guys who will tell you straight on the radio!!
  15. Made it out to Port Glasgow again yesterday afternoon, fishing was red hot until the rainstorm caught up with us. Unfortunately it caught us 20 min after we started. Was still nice to get out any way. Here is a pic I took yesterday. Fish are still in 28-40 FOW same set ups as listed in the original post.
  16. That is my friend Mark I thought some of you might get a kick out of that photo I took some more friends today, the fishing was slow for us east of the port. Fellas who went west who caught the morning bite came back with limits however. Hey I had a 50% shot at getting it right. We still went 2/4 and had a blast. We'll get 'em next time. Pretty much the same set-up as Friday. The fishing is getting super good!! Walleye are now starting to show up good numbers caught today by guys fishing the bottom 5' with muffin man or purple spoons. Come on down it is a super friendly port!!
  17. After a long period of making tackle for everyone else to catch fish with I finally got to hit my favorite port. The fishing has just turned on in Port Glasgow and I took 2 of my favorite fishing Buds out for a quick shake down yesterday. We ran a six rod spread 3/ riggers 3/ Deeper Divers. The rigger setups were all different both out side riggers were set at 22' using my Nitro 2400 Emerald Shiners on the main and Red Hot 2400 Purple Haze on the sliders. The center rigger was set 8' down with a 2400 Blue Berry Slurpee back 100'. The divers were Walker 82mm units using the glow bottoms. Both were back only 40' one with a 2400 Emerald shiner the other with a 2400 Hot Pants both had a few rips the center diver was a 65mm unit back 100' with a Nitro 2800 Watoosie and only had one sniff. The fish are up high. We went 4/5 but some of the Charter Captains using my stuff had more than 12 to the boat. We got a late start yesterday. Most of the fish caught yesterday by myself and others were caught in the top 14' on smaller spoons if you have not fished this area of Lake Erie for big Bows and walleye you should plan on it this year. If you need more info please feel free to send me a PM I will post a picture from my web site of one of the fish we took yesterday, it is an average catch for Lake Erie. There are days when 40 hook ups are not uncommon.
  18. Nothing like the drag screaming of Lake O Kings but I will agree that the smaller Lake Huron fish especially the coho have a very mild meat. In this years Bluewater Angler's Salmon Derby one just over 15lbs took top honours. A lot more coho were weighed in this year than in the past few. Things are looking up for the first time in a while with our Salmon fishery. A big one is still anything over 14lbs with the average being around 9lbs for a king. The Coho Salmon average around 3lbs. still lots of fun to catch.
  19. I fished with my buddy Dave today, Our original plan was to fish on Lake Erie, once again Mother Nature changed my plans.... Hell Bent to fish we decided the south east winds shouldn't mess up Lake Huron too much so we went to Port Frank's. With meter high surf we went out and eventually had a 4 rod spread going. It did not take long for our first fish a smaller Coho. I was happy to send the skunk floating, before I new it we had another fish on!! This time a King!! After 2 double headers, we had landed 5 of 6 fish. 2 coho and 3 kings. The biggest king went home with Dave but the one I kept for the smoker was weighed in for the BWA club derby at Sarnia RV and went 11lbs 4oz not bad, the one that spit the hook sure looked like a horse!!! The fish are still there boys go get them. The Nitty Gritty Depth: 49-57 FOW near the bush What: 2 Riggers with slider 2 Walker Deeper Divers All running in the top 22' Baits Nitro Spoons 2800 Hit Man took all 5 landed fish and the lost fish as well.
  20. A friend of mine went 5/6 on Muskie fishing Closer to Belle River on Saturday. LSC is the place for big Muskie. Very nice report!! Another good place to stay in Mitchell's Bay is the General Store he has 2 rooms up stairs for $70/night (that's what we paid) the one sleeps 8. LSC has some phenomenal fishing!!!
  21. Check out this link, it is for a weekly big fish derby for all species they will be giving out great prizes like rod and reel combos. spoons etc. If you fishing anyway you may as well enter it's free. Check it out! http://skunked.ca/viewtopic.php?t=3652
  22. Keep me posted it is a 4 hour drive for me to get there. I make Nitro Spoons and have a few new patterns to try up that way before they go into production!! I love the Bluffers!!! Thanks for the reply!
  23. I agree drian the tank! I would also like to see a decent section for trollers. The GTA has world class Salmon fishing at it's door step but you would not know it by going to BPS!!!
