  1. After a 20 second standoff I decided to jump over it. I ran toward it and jumped over it. It may be a stretch but I think it tried to bite me during the jump (luckily I have good up). I was laughing the whole time as well.

I keep thinking about you jumping over that snake....if he would have struck directly above you while you were jumpin' over him, the first point of contact with your body would have been your gems :w00t: .....OUCH!!!!!!!...I'm gettin' the shivers just thinking bout that!!

  2. John,

I'm reading the fine print now...initial cost of the "Expanded Warranty" for 12 months is $389.75 with a one time deductible of $100.00....here's a quick breakdown of covered components...

    Transmission

Every moving part inside the transmission execpt rubber belts is covered, period. This includes the following: clutches, bands, pumps, internal shafts, thrust washers and bearings, governor, torque converter, accumulator assemblies, servo, transmission mounts, shift linkage, all gears, synchrohub assemblies, input shaft. All internally lubricated parts. (Does not cover manual clutch asembly)

    Engine

Every moving part inside the engine, except rubber belts is covered, period. This includes the following: pistons and rings, rods and bearings, camshaft and bearings, valves, pushrods and lifters, engine head(s), block and cylinders, if damaged as a result of failure of covered components; oil pan, flywheel, valve covers, engine mounts, intake and exhayst manifolds, oil pump, distributor shaft, distributir gear, ditributir bushing, timing gear chains.

I dunno...I'm not that worried about the engine giving me grief...it's more the drive train and transmission because of the use of 4x4 my truck gets getting into back lakes as well as towing the boat around.....

  3. I received a package in the mail a few weeks back from a company called Canadian Warranty Corporation based out of Winnipeg...It starts off with an offer id# and then states:

"If you own a 2001 - 2004 FORD, MERCURY, OR PONTIAC and if your factory warrany is now or soon will be expiring, your vechicle may still be eligible for continuing coverage under an UNLIMITED MILEAGE warranty

For more details contact the toll free #"

Has anyone ever used 3rd party extended warranty protection or heard of this company???....I had a few problems with my F-150 which was covered under the original Ford warranty (pinion bearing, ball joints, tie rods, steering shaft bearings), and it's left some scars with me as I keep wondering if I bought a lemon and what's next to go now that the warranty has expired....:wallbash:....

Any comments would be appreciated :thumbsup_anim:

    Thanks,

    Steve

  4. I had the pleasure of driving a BMW 750i V12 that Budget rented to me while I was in Germany on business.....I was able to get that black beauty up to 255kph (~160mph) on the autobahn one weekend while I was driving from Munich to Saltzburg....even at that speed, the car handled great!....

And BTW...I wasn't speeding :thumbsup_anim: ....the autobahn has stretches of highway with unlimited speed restrictions...

  5. Ya, I might buy the medium size dipsey and try it out, I know guys use them on Lake O effectively. I don't have a line counter reel however so I'll have to mark my line. I have a reel spooled with 30 lb braid which I will be using and one with 50 I will put in my gf's hands to try out some options, some stretch seems like a good thing so I will use a mono lead and adjust my drag. I'm pumped to catch some summer lake trout! never fished for them in the summer before so I'm hoping to experiment and learn a few things. I'll let you guys know how it turns out, and hopefully with some pics B)

Josh, I've been pretty successful this season for Lakers and I've gone back to old school basics using Leadcore line...(haven't used the downrigger yet this year).....use your sonar to locate bait balls and then try to get down to a depth where your bait/lure is just above....The other weekend I was letting out full 10 colours, plus I added a 1 1/2oz snap weight in order to get me down to the depth I was spotting bait at... :Gonefishing:

Your other option is to jig for them...I prefer using braid for this method because of the use of heavy jigs and you don't get the line stretch like you would with mono...get yourself a good size selection of jigs...Crippled Herrings work great...my preference is the nickel blue colour and weights sizes from 1 1/2oz right up to 5oz...The weight selection will depend on the wind conditions and how quick your boat is drifting...you want your line to go straight down from the side of your boat and not on an angle...this is where a line counter reel comes in handy too...

    Good Luck!!

    Steve

  6. I have had every truck currently still available from GM, Ford and Chrysler. Basically all have been OK BUT the only make that ever left me stranded on the side of the road was two of the Fords. My 2 cents worth!

Gary....I read your response..then looked at your pic under the post and thought...wow, I can almost imagine you thinkin' bout all the trucks you've owned while sittin' there in your boat seat without a worry other than havin' a fish grab your line!!! :clapping::Gonefishing:

I'm counting the days until vacation time comes through!!....takin' the whole month of August off this year.....Thanks for givin' me that moment of solitude looking at you pic...I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO BE OFF :thumbsup_anim:

And....I won't be thinking about trucks!!!

  7. I'm on my 3rd Ford pickup....had a Ranger, then 2000 F-1504x4, and now the "lemon" 2004 F-1504x4...I used to really praise Ford but I now have to question their quality...

Around the 10,000Km mark I started hearing a whistling sound....took it in for a check and Ford had to replace the pinion bearing in the rear differential....

Last year (June 2007) I noticed that the steering was a little stiff and I got worried seeing how we were heading up to Iron Bridge for a week long fishing trip...the truck only had 48,000kms but the 3 year warranty period had expired by 2 months..I took it back to the dealer and after an hour of being looked at I was advised that the ball joints were shot, the tie rods were shot and that the lower and upper bearings in the steering shaft needed to be replaced :w00t::w00t: ......needless to say I FREAKED OUT :wallbash::wallbash: Thank God I deal with a small town dealership and that I took my truck there for all the main service checks...The owner of the dealership authorized a "goodwill" warranty so instead of paying $2000 in repairs, I paid the $100 deductible for that warranty :thumbsup_anim:

I talked to the service manager and asked what was up with the premature wear and tear on the front end parts....his reply was "Ford has many of their parts MADE IN CHINA"....that was all that I needed to know!!
