  1. I would agree on a price for the boat as is + he fixes the motor with you paying the first $500.00 in repairs. I would suggest both of you be there when you talk to the mechanic so it is repaired completely to both of your satisfaction. I am not sure what the going price of the boat is up there however there are always great deals to be found I purchased a 1989 Ranger with a 150 that was not running right for $2200.oo and put a grand in seats, motor parts and electronics. The end result is as good as new even though it is 23 years old age is not a factor as much as was it cared for.

  2. Funny you should say that I was tossing a live target mouse and frog also. The mouse bait has an excellent action that they went nuts for. It walks the dog better than a zara spook and hookups were solid. If you can't find them up North give a holler I'll send you one...they are that good.

  3. As far as a members only area to get people to sign up we just don't need it at this time. We are not selling anything so whether we have 7000 or 15000 members it is information we are not selling. The site has only one advertiser and it is Google. We decided a long time ago that we are not running this site to make money it is truly only alive because of the free time and effort of the mod's and owners. We donate our time because it is a place for us to talk and swop stories with our old and new friends. If or when Google does not bring in enough to pay the bills then we will "resupply" the kitty from our pockets and pay the bills.

We have a wealth of hero's here they are usually unnamed and unsung by their wishes they donate time or products to make the board's presents seen at local charity or worth while events. If we all donated just a little of our time to say Hi to a new member or great post we would go far to smooth the rough spots we seem to hit every once in a while. There are petty wars going on behind the scenes on every forum some here like to make it public some can take it to P.M. and get it resolved without the drama. Funny though the most popular threads are the ones that have conflict in them. We let them go as long as they are in the bounds of the rules and if not it then gets locked. We try to be as liberal as we can be with the rules and while some see it as letting some talk and some not it really is how you are making your point that counts. If we all could realize and keep in mind it isn't personal when we Mod we would have a lot less P.M. grumping and more posted reports on what we all are here for Fishing.

Sorry now back to the topic and Grimace and Musky Mike time for you to go to P.M. please.

    Thanks

I hear yaa. I purchased gas as we crossed the border last year with a credit card and paid for my Lodging at Lak Air then on the return trip stopped outside of Sudbury for fuel and was told my card was declined. I explained that I had no cash and it was either the card that I had used twice in Canada or get out the siphon hose. He swiped the card "again" and it was accepted. I returned home and found out that the USA and Canada are far from being friends with each other regarding credit card usage. Friends who have visited and tried to use there cards have had difficulty getting gas stations and smaller stores to accept them I can only guess because of the added international fees that are charged. It is a shame something that should make your travels easier can be such a pain in the butt depending on the merchants.

  5. I use my Credit card as often as possible. Make sure you call them before you leave and inform them it will be used in Canada from this date till that date. You should also bring back up cash though as you get further out from the main cities they may decline your card for suspicious reasons.

  6. I think you hit the nail on the head Roy. I chose were I live now because of the excellent medical care available. There is lots of water near by and the services and places needed to get things done. A place to escape is nice and a camp or cottage is a luxury that we all would like and with planning it can be part of the retirement package we all seek.

  7. I run a GT150 340 Ranger built in 1989 and it fished 5 days in Canada on 25 Gal of fuel. Granted I didn't floor it often because it will dump 4/5th of a gallon per min. at 56 mph. I kind of relate it to driving a V8 lots of muscle when you need/want it but it can be babied and get surprisingly good gas mileage.

  8. Lets hope it will stay on track I like to see what people think on many of the issues that effects both Nations but have very little tolerance from either Nationality on loud statements with NO substance. I will be the first to say that 9/11 has changed the way many of us think and act and it is an issue that we all have to contend with...for better or worse.
