  1. LOL wait a minute...how does one market to a fish?? you know what i mean!
  2. just picked up the Live Taget Sun Fish, swims down 5' to 6'. Looks AWESOME! I think most lure manufacturers market to fisherman, not fish, guess well see this weekend. I've never used a sunfish patterend bait so really curious as to how it performs.
  3. The Olive Clackin Minnow is my new FAV! similar to the xrap. as for xrap colour, whites definitley my favourite
  4. go to a pet shop and get a few feeder fish
  5. yeah, from what I've heard, I'm gonna pass on McCrae. did a search online, its unfortunate what people have done there. You'd think that people who enjoy camping and the outdoors would respect the lake enough to clean up after themselves! Decided to go to a lake just south of parry sound, west of the 400. thanks for the input, wish me luck!
  6. LOL Sounds like I need to keep looking... This is more work than I thought it would be. Anyone know what river that is that crosses under the 400 at Iroquois Cranberry Growers Dr.? Looks like it opens up just east of the 400. you'd think picking a water body would be as easy as throwin a dart at the map...apparently not anyone with experience canoe fishing wanna chime in with some suggestions? appreciate all the input!
  7. Really?! It's funny they would ticket there considering it looks like there is a dead end road there specifically for people to access the lake. Looks like a pretty far hike!
  8. Hi All, I've decided to check out McCrae Lake for a day of fishing from the canoe this Friday. My research shows there is a respectable variety of fish: http://www.muskokawaterweb.ca/1/1.5/factsheets/McCrae_Lake.pdf I have found one previous report from an OFC'er that mentioned an access road with a LOT of parked cars on it etc. but cant seem to figure out the best way to access the lake from looking at my maps. I assume I would exit at Crooked Bay Rd. #168 off the 400. none of the main roads lead right to the lake, does anyone know if there is a small dirt raod that will get me there? Or can you access McDonald Lake and paddle into McCrae from the Crooked Bay exit? Appreciate any help from someone familiar with the area. Thanks guys!
  9. Same here, but according to Google earth, these lakes are all adjacent to small roads ie. Black River Rd. Are these classifies as highways up there? Think im just gonna take my chances and hope i dont come back to a ticket or worse, no car! i figure it might be fun to go a little off the beaten path and see what swims in some of these small lakes...
  10. Hi all, I'm going canoe fishing this saturday, basically, picking a lake off the map that looks like its accessable by road and gonna drop the canoe in and go! I know this has been talked about several times in the past, but I wanna ask one last time to make sure i dont get myself in any trouble... Am I allowed to park my car on the side of one of these roads, drop the canoe in and fish without getting in trouble for either parking on the road or fishing in the lake??? Looking at a few lakes near bracebridge, namely: Cinder lake Big East Lake Anson Lake Sunny Lake Big Orillia Lake Appreciate any advice, as always...
  11. if you can find the 5" floating leeches, grab em! They work better than any other plastics I've used on a drop shot.
  12. we fished Pigeon for about 8 hours yesterday and only had ONE follow! (shallow bay south of Gannon narrows)must've been doing something wrong...water was warmer than anticipated at up to 73 degrees. we threw everything from big glider baits, handlebarz, marabous, grim reapers, believers, and on, and on, and on... needless to say, im a little sore today nonetheless, great day to be on the water
  13. Frabil makes a nice one that slides into the neck of the net, not sure what its called...
  14. HA! Oops! was hoping you missed that thread! I luv that boat, buy a bigger one and sell the "junker" to me
  15. awesome info Jedi! You took a lot of the guessing out of my planning. Thanks Buddy
  16. thanks Jedi, Taking my girlfriend so would prefer to just car camp. I was under the impression there were no shower facilities at Tea Lake??
  17. its actually fellow OFC'er Whitemikeca's boat, I'll be the eager passenger sitting to his left. good luck
  18. Anyone ever car camp here? Looking for feedback, hows the lake and facilities? thanks alternatively, would any of you know of a private campground within 3 hours of Toronto that doesnt stack campsites and trailers side by side like a parking lot? Looking for at least a little privacy, peace, and quiet... I used to go to Trailside Park in Seguin, they really spread out the sights and give you the same feel as most provincial parks, but would like a change of scenery
  19. Sounds good, will do! We'll be in a 15' White "Canadian Classic" junker boat with an old 45HP Merc. LOL The boat is moored at Emerald Isle Marina. Handlebarz are READY 2 FLY
  20. Thanks, Craig Last Question: Does anyone know of a lumber yard near Peterborough or Bridgenorth that sells Marine grade plywood? much apppreciated...
  21. Hi all, I'm heading up with a fellow OFC'r to Buckhorne to do some repairs on the casting deck of his boat. He got a call from the Marina, and apparently, the plywood below the carpet and possibly the support beams have rotted out and need to be replaced. We plan on heading up early tomorrow morning to do some repairs, and if all goes well, get a little fishing time in as well. Question: Neither of us have experience working with boats; my plan is to basically copy the existing design and replace all the rotted wood as need be. What type of wood should we use??? Is there a specific grade or type that is best to ensure it doesnt soak up water and decompose again? Your help is greatly appreciated OFC! Thanks
  22. I havent had much luck at all targeting 'eyes in the Moon. This year I've made it my goal to try and put together some kind of pattern that works. There is promising sturcture ALL OVER, just no walleye! LOL I'd spend most my time working the waters just outside of Captain Allan Strait around Iron City Bay. But your guess is as good as mine! I'd assume that they are slowly working there way back from the falls right about now and I'd ASSUME that a lot of traffic would be heading back out through the straight to bigger water... I'm not familiar with Sam, I parked at WoodsBay Marina and had car trouble, James was a HUGE help. The Moon is my favourite spot in Ontario, I'm determined to find the 'eyes as they were there many "moons" ago
