Thankfully, whitemikeca from the board offered to pick me up at 5am on Sunday morning for our first Musky trip of the year. We realized we wouldn't be alone when passing through Bridgenorth; I guess a bass tourney was in town, I've never seen so many bass boats in my life! It was definitely cool to see these impressive machines fly across the water, also nice to discover some inconspicuous fishing spots that seemed to get a lot of attention from these guys that I've passed over so many times before... Did I mention it was HOT! water temps at the surface were 76 degrees. Boat traffic in general was the highest I've ever seen it out there. I managed to snap ONE shot without a boat zipping through the scenery. We spent the majority of our time trolling the lake without too much to show for. At around 10am this girl decide to take my bait while trolling the top of Pigeon. By 2 we were exhausted from the heat and ready to head back. Can't wait for the fall!

I'd call ahead, there was only one on the rack and he grabbed a second one from the back for me...

So I went to BPS and grabbed a couple Salty's about $40 a peice. Oddly enough, the guy at BPS says people have been buying em up this week, wonder if this thread had something to do with that?? LOL Anyways, just wondering, is it safe to keep the rods in the Salty's while travelling from spot to spot without having to worry about them falling out?

Did Ray Emery sign somewhere? He looked good last year and was challenging for top spot in Chicago... And he lives in 'sauga so maybe he'd be up for it?!

How do you Import boat/trailer from the USA
addy79 replied to rdambros's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all your input guys, much appreaciated. I made a call to Canada customs as well. As mentioned, seems like a pretty simple process. Now I just need to find a good boat. It's tough to really judge a boat from a website and I'd hate to drive all the way to Michigan to find out the boat is a dud. I guess that's the gamble I'll have to take. -
So the RIV fee is $209. Most of the info I'm researching is a little dated (reffering to GST and PST); previously you paid GST and PST on the boat and PST on the trailer. Is it safe to assume you now just pay HST for both??

LOL no kidding, seems relatively painless nonetheless. I may PM you with some questions. thanks!!

How do you Import boat/trailer from the USA
addy79 replied to rdambros's topic in General Discussion
Hey MM, good info here... Why is it cheaper to come in through Quebec? Putting most o fthe cost on the motor will save money in taxes? Why? Are Canadian black Book values lower on Outboards vs. the actual boat itself? -
Maybe I'm not searching the right key words but nothing came up for me on "importing boat" I'll give it another try

Hey All, I'm planning on purchasing a boat from the US and wondering if anyone in the community has any experience in doing this? I'd like to avoid paying a broker to do the leg work for me. The research I've done so far indicated that I'd have to pay HST on the black book value of the boat(not purchase price), and a licensing fee (not sure how much it is). I know the trailer must be registered in order to transfer ownership to Canada and that the purchase agreement would have to be at the border 3 days before I get there. Is there anything else I am missing?? Also, this will be my first boat purchase and admitedly, I am not very familiar with boat mechanics. What are some things I should be looking for when inspecting the boat? I've heard of some expensive repairs when the "lower unit" is in need of repair/replacement - what are the tell tale signs of this? I'm thinking that my safest bet would be to have a local boat mechanic give the boat a once over... Looking at a 17' fish and ski style boat such as a Tracker/Lund/Sylvain/Crestliner. Any input and advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone. Adam

I've stayed at Auld Reekie Lodge; Gowganda is a TOUGH fish! We did okay trolling either side of the big island in the main basin. Frypan was a great lake, we did well for some BIG walleye and pike in there. If you like smallmouth you gotta hit Elkhorn Lake (rough road in but you can ATV or 4x4 it) best bass fishing I've ever experienced.

Anyone know if they discontinued the Cumara 7'1" xfast medium action spinning rod?? I bought one at BPS and turns out one of the guides was damaged; took it back to BPS and they said they don't offer that model anymore and I can either get a refund or choose a different model Cumara. Oh yeah, they also suggested I keep the damaged rod they sold me, ship it to Peterborough myself and have them replace it, but I would have to assume any costs incurred. BPS Blows! Now I'm having a hard time finding the Cumara drop shot rod, anyone know what store has em in stock?
