guy i bought it off had the finder, lights and bilge running off that battery and the deep cycle for the trolling motor

my motor is an 18 hp tiller manual start...no alternator How often does the distilled water need to be added? thanks again
-
As far as adding water, i wouldn't know where to begin... I'm not sure if it's a 'maintenance-free' battery. Doesn't say. And if it were, doesn;t that mean it doesnt require adding water? What the heck do I know...! Ok. I'll let you guys know how it goes... the first time I tried (last week) it worked when I hooked my troling motor to it. Now, as far as the cranking battery goes, does that have to be charged as frequently? I know that the deep cycle has to be charged after every use... Thanks
-
Thanks! I wonder why it wouldn't state on the battery what voltage?? bizarre... well i guess it's most likely a 12 volt? thanks again...

Hi there: There are 3 settings on the charger I have. No Instructions on how to use it: 6V 10A 12V 2A 12V 10A My new deep cycle battery is a Kirkland 700 MCA, 85 AMP hours (doesn't say how many volts on the battery) Thanks in advance...

Hey folks, I'm heading up to Head Lake near Norland tomorrow. Was supposed to camp the French but plans fell through! Oh well, next time I guess... Head Lake should be a decent consolation...I've heard good things. I understand the S.East section near the boat launch is good. Muskies, walleye, panfish, etc... Can anyone confirm this? Any recent visitors to the lake? I'd appreciate any tips... Hope to post a successful report! PP

Fishing on the U & ME Boat with Captain Lloyd Daume
ilario replied to GNODDY's topic in General Discussion
that looks like my old starcraft! when did you buy that boat? we sold it to someone from peterborough back in 2002 -
Ya, you're right about that... so does this mean that the deep cycle can be charged as I run the motor? would it take the same amount of time as it would if I charged it with a battery charger? thanks...
-
does it charge a battery? not sure! I currently have 2 motors (one will be sold shortly) - a 10hp Honda and an 18hp evinrude. How can I know if it charges? thanks, PP

So I just bought a 'new' boat and the fellow sold it to with a Mopar Premium 60 (525 cold cranks/80 min reserve). This is used for the finder, bilge, and lights. I've been advised to buy a seperate deep cycle for the trolling motor. What should I buy in terms of capacity? Also, a friend mentioned connnecting all the electronics onto the deep cycle so that I can eliminate the extra 20lb battery.. any suggestions? thanks! p.s. what type of charger would i need for this set up? I have one from my dad's old boat and it states that it charges deep cycle batteries (10/2/55 AMP fully automatic battery charger and engine starter)

u can save a lot more than 12% by controlling your speed... i've experienced huge differences in gas consumption when driving close to the speed limit (say 110 k/h).. I did a trip recently to Montreal where I had to rush to get to an engagement going there so I left toronto in a hurry and drove 130 (and even faster) all the way there. On the way back I stuck close to the limit and the diffenece was above 20%. It also depends on my what you drive. My 4 cyl is much more efficient at lower speeds and the RPM's are really revving when i get it up to 130...Lots of variables
