Interesting observation of the day: One of weed lines we worked seemed to produce bites when we fished into the wind, but no bites when we fished with the wind. Whatever the reason behind it (and I can think of many) it’s a good idea to pay attention to details like this and alter your fishing. You’ll probably get a few more bites by the end of the day.
Good eye. try to always fish into the wind, especially when rip jigg'n and fishing targets i.e staying on a weed edge. You have more control and better feel with the bait. To much slack and the fish could of ate and spit the jig without you even knowing. Not to mention tough for optimun boat control to follow the inside/outside turn and/or pockets..
Sometimes I do go with the wind but only when fishing deep clumps and covering vast water (flats) where the presentation is more vertical, and with one or two drift socks to slow ya right down.
Just throwing this out,
Cheers.

Sadly, Ontario does not vote the provincial government in, Toronto votes the Provincial Government in.
Agreed.
If PEI has a population of 140,000 approx. and is it's own province, maybe Toronto should be aswell.

Not exactly sure, but I think it was a couple days after the tornado. I was 9 and heading to Victoria Harbour with my family. I can vividly remember the path the tornado took looking from the 400 up over the houses on the hill on the east side. I'll never forget it.

Ya, it's not only newbies. At the OFC weekend a Merlands a few years back I launched the boat, put the emergency brake on, and kinda forgot to take it off...... almost hand some caring fellow OFNERs knee deep pushing...

Forget about swimbaits... the words out!

Hey Terry, I use the Victoria Harbour launch. There is also a trailer park on the west sideof the bay I have used in the past as well.

There used to a be mobile Counrty Video dance that used to hit all the small towns up north. Not sure, but I thnk I went to one in Bancroft, memories alittle vague on that night.
ALWAYS had a blast at them.

Wow, that was lucky Wil. Nice fish too.
Who knows what's actually in the water at some of these launches.

Congrats, I assume you guys were one of the favourites going in and you pulled it off. Being the favourite and not pulling it off is more then frustrating.
Great job.

Define master? haha..
Not sure the water body your on but this works for us for us on a few Trent system lakes.
We fish the deep basin of the lake, right out in the middle and vertical jig plastics or our favourite bucktails. Their hugging bottom, hiding from light. Threfore the slow, action is key. You have to cover alot of water and a drift sock is vital.
Fish filter out of the rivers/spawn areas, spread out and wait deep to move up once the weeds are up. That's the theory, and it works. For us anywhoo.

Money you bring to Vegas, stays in Vegas.
For me anywhoo.
Everywhere you turn it's money. Looking forward to going in July however.

I had a small glimpse of the pain of losing my mom last weekend when she was rushed to emergency not breathing. Fortunately it was in time and she is stable today.
Well wishes truly go out to those who have lost their Mommas.

Definitly not a fairweather guy, kudos. Never tried that bait before, looks neat.

Cold front + thunder showers/rain + 30K winds out of the NW = not a very good opening weekend for our our area.
Perfect rip jiggin weather!

my buddy just baught a 7'11 G-Loomis frog rod.. but its just shy of 300 bones.. so i was wondering what you guys use on here.. maybe a little cheaper
When I was with Okuma a few years ago we got the 7'11 heavy guide select rods, still use'm today. I think the retail was around $120.
I have the loomis too, IMO it's worth the moola, but the guide select has held up to a pretty good amount of fish and salad.

JP of the WFN Getting School'd has a wicked video on the WFN site around frog fishing. He hit's the nail on the head.

I've been doing my own bearings(and friends) for about 20 years now...
Hi Friend, what are you doing Saturday?

Used to throw a Snag proof frog customized with solder as weight and a double gammie 5/0. Great bait to load the boat and have fun with, but tough to win a tournie.
