I really like the drum. Picked up a stainless from one of the second hand appliance stores on Queen St between Dufferin and Shaw - I think it was called Royal Appliances. Charged me $10.00. Works like a charm. Call around before you drive - yellow pages are your best friend.

thanks, I just emailed a few local parts stores to see if they have any or know where i can get one

  2. spent 4 days on the st clair river. 2 were Sat. and Sunday, those type of boats were very common as well as 40'-60' yachts. Those yachts sure throw a wake. The 600' freighters just shove the water not much of a wave at all. There was a story going around about one of those spped boats lost control and jumped a wake and landed ontop of the fly bridge of another boat killing 2 on the non-speed boat. Like grandpa always said "speed kills"

theres offshore power boat race on the st clair pretty often. the freighter do move a ton of water, , grew up in sarnia, we'd be pickeral fishing in waist deep water, a big freighter would pass by and the water would drop down to our ankles for about 5 minutes, then come rushing back in, was pretty weird

  3. one tip i got from a charter captain, was to tilt your rods so that the tips are almost or in the water when making a turn, my guess is that it makes the dipsy run truer.

also, im curious as to why some one would say you need a big boat to run dipsy's? i know people that run them off an 8ft zodiak, if its leader length, thats a non issue, you have a 7-9ft rod, lift it up a tad, shortens the leader length to 7ft or less, take a step back, or have the net person at the back of the boat, and the leader length is a non issue.

  4. watch the video again and pay attention to the first car that goes by, then watch stewarts car, both cars did the exact same movement at the same point in the turn, stewarts was more exaggerated probably due to being a little higher up a banked corner.

also from watching the video, it doesn't even look like the 2 cars made contact that caused the wreck, looks like the other driven spun out trying to get space from stewart, and if thats the case, false accusations on his part.

but in the end, you'll never know the whole story until you see multiple angles of the incident.

  5. guys with the seafoam suggestion...

ive seafoamed a car, never an outboard...where are you dumping the stuff?

my old 15 gunked up this weekend and left me stranded out on the lake this weekend. Weve taken the carburetor apart and cleaned it out. Where are you dumping it while its running?

    gas tank

  6. OK, thanks guys. I guess changing line is not the answer. I will have to make some other changes to increase my odds.

remember in ontario, you're allowed 4 hooks/lures (trebles don't count as 3 hooks) per line.......when im out we run a slider/cheater line down to the clips with a snap swivel, use about a 5ft leader with a spoon on the end. you want your spread to look like a school of bait fish to draw the bigger fish in

Maybe not everybody, but the people who had their food spoil last winter during the power outage when the biggest deep freeze in the world was outside their door are at serious risk!!!

im a butcher, we had people asking us how they're going to keep their turkey cold when they don't have power.........ummmmm wrap a blanket around it and put it in the trunk of your car

  8. i bought a pair from Gagnons in Oshawa 3 years ago for $20 and they are awesome, I forget the name on them, think it was xtreme blue or something like that. but people i've fished with that are using costas have said that mine are just as good if not better. The UV protection is amazing, I've had sun burn on my face except where my glasses are. so yes, you can get great glasses on the cheap, but hard to find.

I would highly recommend the xtreme??? if you can find them, if not, Costa Del Mar would my next choice for around $170

  9. that part of the river is quiter for boat traffic, and is also a lot wider, so avoiding freighters will be easy enough, plus on a weekend i think shipping is very minimal, you will have to watch out for the current, it is VERY strong. you won't need a US license, unless you cross over into US waters.
