  1. Court vball has some seriously skilled beasts lol. I had a chance to watch the Canadian men's upset the powerhouse American team. I've seen int'l competition before, but some fellas have really pushed beyond the boundaries with their top spin jump serves. It's already pretty deceiving with the top spin jump serve and it just drops in front of the passer. Watching Hoag's serving is a thing of beauty where it doesn't just have a top spin, but also side spin making the ball curve! I can't recall how fast the speed was, but definitely putting out smoke rings!

Beach vball is another sport I enjoy watching. The Americans, Brasillians, Dutch, and Italians usually are the top teams. Italy's Carambula sure is entertaining to watch with his sky ball serves!

On a side note, Toronto is hosting an int'l beach vball tournament in Sept that's free to attend. I'd highly recommend going!

oh hell yea, those knuckling jump serves that come in flat, are insane to try to and handle. Some of the rallies have been ridiculous! just put your hands in the way and hope for the best. i think its schmit for canada hitting OVER the blocks from 6'9 and 6'10 players, thats some serious hops

  2. yea, someone forgot the chlorine in the pool today! yuck!!! I like the pros there, but only when its an equally skilled field, ex: hockey and baseball when it comes back, do not like when its a stacked deck like in basketball. i mean, your supposed to send your top athletes. With hockey, its a crap shoot with who will win, great players from all around the world. Baseball, you know Japan, Dominican, Puerto Rico, Cuba, US, Canada, and Australia will be highly competative, With Japan being a favourite.

Really liking the indoor volleyball this year, if you haven't seen it, watch a match, crazy ball speeds, with some big players.

  3. Yea, cities have begun opening their eyes, the cost of the games is too high, think Vancouver is the only one that the games didn't hurt, in recent history. But they had the world class facilities in place already, with Whistler for all the skiing events, and then an NHL arena. Think the only thing they had to build was the village, bobsled and speed skating venue. Rio was a very controversial venue right from the get go, many wondering why it was chosen to begin with.

He got through has first inning without allowing a run. Hopefully he will have a Grilli type revival for the Jays.

hes not pitching that badly. his ERA is inflated, was at like 2.70 going into june, met a red hot cleveland team twice, and then todd frazier touched him up, opponents batting .218 against him vs .306 against Storen.

Could you post name of business and address for me please, (also phone # just in case) looks like I will see you next Friday. Any discounts for volume orders? Who should I ask for?

Sure thing, Buckingham Meat Market, 28 Buckingham Ave (runs East off Simcoe) big white house about 50yrds off Simcoe, just north of the Oshawa hospital. Phone# 905-725-2213 My boss will give dicounts if you were to buy a full piece type thing, that will give you about 16 1" thick steaks. we can cut and wrap em for you on the spot.. You can ask for me if you like, Joel.

  6. Curious to know what an average cut @ 1 1/2 " sells for & if your open on Sunday's??

for one that size, around $22-$24, we're at $44/KG for a boneless prime rib steak, and $30 /kg for a bone in prime rib steak. for comparison, sobeys is at $41.87 for a bone in prime rib steak that they call Canada AAA, so most likely from out west somewhere.

we are not open on Sundays, Sundays and Mondays are our weekend, we're open Tuesday-Saturday, 9-6 Tues-Thurs, 9-8 on Fri, and 9-5 on Saturday.

  7. I found a place called The Trading Post on Simco St. just North of Port Perry. All of their beef is aged a minimum of 28 days and boy is it good! Prices are as good or better than local butcher shops (Rib Eyes typically $11.99 a lb).

They will vacuum pack roasts, steaks, they even vacuum pack my bacon for me in 1/2 lb packs all at no extra charge. I have been making my own bacon for about two years now, theirs is just as good or better and @ $3.99 a lb and vacpacked 7 slices to the package, well I can't even buy the pork bellies for that price.

I have even been buying my salmon from them when I want to make smoked salmon. Fresh Atlantic salmon typically $6.99/lb. Cure, smoke, eat and it's as good as or better than the $19.00/ little package that you buy in the stores.

come down and see me, literally 20 minutes down simcoe st from there, all ontario, no added growth hormones, no anti biotics, free range, 28 days age, AAA or better only.

ps, vacuum sealing isn't great for keeping meat, the seal will break if the package gets knocked around while frozen, and then freezer burn. we use a freezer paper, same as traditional butcher wrap, but its coated on the inside with a food grade polyurethane coating. will keep meat frozen up to a year and half with issues, you can knock it around, have it fall out of the freezer, and not have to worry about the seal breaking
