  1. Is anyone on the board entering the FLW Fantasy Fishing contest? It is open to all Canadians, with the exception of Quebec. Top prizes are well in excess of USD 1 million. You can sign up at www.fantasyfishing.com Good luck!
  2. You could try Lake of Bays right off of Port Cunnington. Try the area between the Port and BigWin island. I haven't been up for a while, but you should have easy access.
  3. That was a riot! Made it to level 10 with just under 383,000 points.
  4. Where I come from, we call that "natural selection". Fools!
  5. I'm interested in learning the different ways that people use to count a lure down to a particular depth. Any and all feedback is welcome.
  6. Tragic, to say the least. Our prayers are with Kareem and his family.
  7. Working the bay they are in is a good idea. The lake can be pretty rough, especially in the fall. The southern part of the lake, especially south of the narrows tends to be more calm that the main lake. Much easier for you to fish. I may be up that week, and would be happy to point you in the "right" direction.
  8. I spend my summers on the Lake of Bays, and can tell you that there are not a great number of maps available. I have the Adventure map for Lake of Bays. Not bad ... but not great. I would be happy to provide guidance on some well known spots on the lake if you are interested.
  9. No problem man. Bald works well for me.
  10. We were on Lake of Bays near Bracebridge/Huntsville. By the way ....... I am the bald guy!
  11. Here are a few shots of the boys fishing weekend up north. The weather and fishing were great.
  12. Excellent report. You both must have been thrilled. Having a live in fishing partner is amazing.
  13. Further to my previous post ....... when it comes to hooks, I always use a 3/0 wide gap worm hook.
  14. I use them quite a lot for Smallmouth. I rig them Texas or wacky. The key seems to be in getting the right colour. Yesterday, green and white combinations were working very well. All other colours were not producing. I agree that over rigging them takes away from their success. I always fish them on spinning rods and reels with 6 - 8 pound mono. Other presentations just don't seem to do the job. This is a bait that you need to have patience with ..... it falls very slowly. Hence it's attraction to the fish.
  15. You can try Lake of Bays. Excellent Lake Trout. Spoons seem to do the trick.
  16. Thanks for the feedback. It does have Fish ID and I do believe that it is on.
  17. Excellent photos. Great fishing. Never tried a white worm ....... maybe I should!
  18. I recently purchased a used boat that has a Lowrance x55a fish finder on it. It is a black and white unit that is approximately 7 years old. I am very new to fish finders and was wondering if anyone can provide feedback or recommendations on whether it should be used in auto or manual mode. I am fishing on Lake of Bays, a large and deep lake. I am fishing for Pike, Smallmouth and Lake Trout. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
  19. How about some ..... let's buy Canadian. The worms from Bass Magnet Lures work just as well as all the rest, and they are made in Canada. You can buy a pack of 10 for $6.49. www.bassmagnetlures.com
  20. Dorset is on Lake of Bays and there is little in the way of official organized camp sites on the lake. The main towns are Dwight, Dorset and Baysville. Dwight is accessed off of Hwy. 60. Both Dorset and Baysville are accessed off Hwy. 117. If you want to wait until you actually get there, you will find a tourist office right on the highway in the town of Baysville. Both towns have pretty much everything that you need. Fishing is good in the lake. Mainly smallmouth, lake trout and pike. There is a lodge on the lake named Beauview Lodge. I have no idea if they have camping facilities, but they may be able to point you in the right direction. All of the towns provide easy access to Huntsville as well. I hope this helps.
  21. Thanks for all of the feedback. It is greatly appreciated!
  22. I recently installed a MinnKota trolling motor on my 16.5" Princecraft ...... and now the cover won't fit. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I may be able to do to get either this cover or another to fit? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
  23. I am at home recovering from a heart attack and would like to get out close to home to do some fishing. Can anyone provide some feedback on Lake Wilcox? I have been led to believe there is Pike fishing in the lake. Any and all feedback is appreciated.
