  1. Still ice on the lakes in the timmins area. If we get nice weather or rain all week there could be a chance the ice melts before the May run
  2. I was ice fishing on the weekend and the lake I was on had almost a full auger of ice. But the good news is we had more ice last year and it melted by the second week of May, I'm hoping it melts soon because I am a fishing guide in the area and I might have to cancel some trips if the weather doesn't change
  3. Arnt all diesel fuel pumps have ultra low sulphur diesel? That's all I put in my duramax diesel
  4. It's not looking good, -18 today and end got 2 feet of snow yesterday. Hopefully we get some warmer weather soon
  5. I have lived in Timmins all my life and I only have seen ice on the lakes during the May run maybe 2 times. Last year we had more nice and it melted by May 10th. There could be a possibility of ice this year but I think it will melt by that time
  6. Yes there is a public launch at horwood. it is about 15 minutes of the hwy 101 and just past big bear camp so just fallow the signs to big bear and you will see the public boat launch sign. There are also a few camping spots on the lake. Theres a open area near pinecone point but you can also can camp on a few islands. It might still be cold that time of year so bring winter clothing with you.
  7. Ahhhhh why do I get singled out hahaha I like money
  8. RIP Stompin Tom, I live in Timmins where he spent a lot of time and I have worked in a couple of the mines that he sings about. The texas gulf mine is still in production today. I worked at both the underground mine and the smelter. He will be missed
  9. Horwood lake outpost is a good spot to but with your boat it would take you 30/45 minutes to get there. but it is located in a good area for fishing tho
  10. If you are looking at northern Ontario Mattagami Lake has some great lodges and the fishing is great that time of year. You will get lots of walleye and pike and there is bass in the lake also. Also Horwood lake in Folyet is probably the best walleye fishery in the north with lots of big pike, Check out Big Bear camps on horwood. Also The Cache Campground in Timmins has cabins for rent and the walleye fishing is good but the pike fishing is great and you will have the whole lake to yourself for pike cause everyone fishes walleye
  11. Finja, if you are looking for a fly in lake try Ivanhoe Air's Oswald Lake. One of the best walleye lakes I have ever fished in my life. average walleye is 18-22 inches with many over 25". Easy to catch 200 fish a day and it has a great pike population also.
  12. For a full day guided trip on horwood I charged $350 for 2-3 people. I supply everything used for fishing, check out my website at www.northernangling.ca I tried to post pics but they didn't work, Ill figure it out tho. Finja another good lake to try would be Mattagami lake, it has several lodges on the lake and you don't have to travel that far by boat. Lots of fish in the 17-20 inch range with a good chance for a wall hanger.
  13. Tayzak15 I don't fish trout that much but there is a lot of lakes down that road with trout, Harry is a very good lake trout lake. Im going to try to post some pics from horwood from the past summer.
  14. Hey Tayzak, I figured a few things out on horwood that no else does and the walleye go nuts for. Basically eveyone that fishes that lake just drops anchor and jigs. But theres more to walleye fishing than jigging haha. Also the different structure I have found on Horwood using my hds 10 and strucutre scan is also another key to my succsess. For Brookies I would recomend going down the foleyet timber road. lots of lakes back there fill with trout, but other than that I just focus on guiding and fishing for walleye. The main lakes I guide on are Mattagami lake, Kenogamissi lake, and Horwood Lake.
  15. FishLogic I am a fishing guide in the Timmins area and horwood lake in my mind is the best lake we have here in the north. Plenty of big fish and lots of walleye between 17-22 inches. Everytime out last summer someone in my boat has got one over 27" and lots over 25". An average day out there for me is 50-75 walleye and there has been many times that I have had over 150 fish days.
  16. Hey Tayzak, that is a great idea. I was thinking about doing something like that for years. If you plan on doing it try to stay away from the long drives on gravel roads, but Ivanhoe, Horwood, Mattagami, Kenogamissi are all good areas. Let me know if you need any help with your idea.
  17. If you are looking for a better lake in the same area check out horwood lake. 10 times the lake than Ivanhoe and lot more fish and bigger fish. Whatever place you pick you will have a great time
  18. Hi Everyone, I am looking for places to get some silk screening done for some hoodies and t-shirts. Anyone know of any places that they recommend that are good and for a half decent price? any help would be appreciated Thanks Matt
  19. In The Timmins area kenogamissi lake is a nice lake with lots of fish. The cache campground has a few cabins that are nice. Mattagami lake is another good lake but it is closer to gogama than Timmins, Miniakwa lodge is a good place to stay also. And another lake would be horwood lake, probably one of the best lakes in the north. All the lakes have great fishing and you will have a blast here in the north

  22. Jigging rock piles and pitching jigs to shore lines, if the weather is ahead of schedule I like to pull bottom bouncers with harnesses or slow death, But in the cold weather nothing beats a jig tipped with a minnow.
  23. its a good line, I have used it for years before I switched to a no stretch line but I still tie all my leaders and harnesses with it
