Did your friend get out to see if the bear was ok? lol

Thanks for the reminder Roy! I actually had my smoke detector hard-wired into my electricity. Come to think of it I guess it won't help much if the power goes out! Better check to make sure it has a back-up battery inside. Cheers, Ryan

First off I'm not knockin' Bill directly - he has some solid posts on here and I think he's a good guy.... no doubt he could fish circles around me when it comes to steelhead. I was just trying to back up young_one a little, in that if he doesn't want to black out the backgrounds it's his choice. It just burns my at this time of year, when somebody posts a picture of his prized catch, and the first thing all these steelheaders do is jump all over the guy about his background. I know OFC has lost a few members in the past because of this. Anyways, my reply probably would have been a little more long winded and explanatory but I was typing it on my BB. Again, thanks for the report Young_One - good work. Cheers, Ryan

One Last Report - 2008-2009 Review
The Urban Fisherman replied to Leecher's topic in General Discussion
Can't see your vid cause I'm on my phone, but I enjoyed all your reports this season.... Even though they made me jealous from time to time. Good luck with the hunt! -
Man give the guy a break! He tried something new and got into some fish! He's happy, so give him some props and shut it. Personally I think it ruins the picture when people black out the backgrounds but if that's what you want to do its your choice, as it may be some peoples preference not to. Awesome report dude, beauty fish!

dud I gotta be honest....a few people suggested the Ice Cube huts to me when I was asking about building one, and here's my experience with this style of hut. I only used one ONCE last year with BBR from OFC... A) It was what felt like 50 below and windy that day. Putting up the hut was a chore and a half because of the wind We Froze our hands off putting it up, because we couldn't get it up with our mits on. (poles zipper etc.) c) Everything was wet all around us once it was set up because there's no floor. d) Once it's set up it isn't moveable unless you want to take out the anchors and carry the damn thing around. I swore that day I'd never buy this style of hut. Just my opinion - some people love'em good luck.

Homemade Ice Shelter?
The Urban Fisherman replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I've even seen models online that have 12 or 20 inch sides which allow you to put a mernanent bench and all your gear inside, then fold the walls down on top. I'd love to go that route, but I'll be lifting this onto the roof of my truck and pulling it by hand, so the less wood, and the lighter the better for me. Cheers, Ryan -

OFN board on my Blackberry?
The Urban Fisherman replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
I post on my blackberry (pearl) all the time.... actually OFC is one of the few sites that actually works on my blackberry. Everything looks - backwards but once you get used to it, it's not a problem. Looking forward to the new "app" Rick. Cheers, Ryan -
Homemade Ice Shelter?

awesome - what were the dimentions of that one in the picture? The plans I have here are to make one that's 4'x7'. I think I might want mine to be a little smaller that that though... Thanks! -
Homemade Ice Shelter?

I know what you guys mean, but I've got all the materials needed to make something like that. I've spent the past 2 years renovating my house so my total cost for a project like that will be roughly $0.00 -

Homemade Ice Shelter?

Thanks dude - much appreciated.. Drifter that thing is bad-ass, but to big, heavy and in the end costly for me. I have to drag this thing by hand wit ha 3 year old sitting on top! lol and I figure by the time I build something like that I could have probably bought one. Thanks Hold-fast.. a little to bulky for me. I have to put this thing on the roof of my x-terra to get it around... I actually was looking on Kijiji for one, but the more I look into it, the more I want a hard floor, and the option to tow it around without having to tear down and re-build down the lake.. very cool - if I was going alone all the time I'd probably go with that design for sure! I'm hoofin' it alright! no sled or quad over here.... cute kids man!! - nice to see you gettin' them out on the ice! Thanks for the tip - but the reason I'm looking to build one is that I don't want to spend much money on this.... $200.00 buys a heck of a lot of softwater baits! haha yeah man, I was out last year BBR of OFC, and we froze our tails off trying to set up a tent-type shelter, with bars everhwere, which had no floor and my feet got wet inside....... I swore to myself that day that I'd never buy a tent-style hut. -
Hey guys, I don't get out ice fishing much..... it's pretty much just a way to relieve the itch a little throughout the hard-water season.... Usually I just tough it out, but now that I've got kids, I'd like to put something together to keep them out of the wind, and in one spot! I'm pretty handy, and have a few idea's of my own, but if anybody out there has suggestions, please post some pictures or ideas! Thanks again OFC. Cheers, Ryan

Tall Towers and Tiny Bass...
The Urban Fisherman replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
It could very well be a Delhi Tower.... I know the installer bought it locally, and marked it up some no doubt! lol There's a 4' square slab holding it in place - should be good to go. I thought about doing it myself at one time, but I didn't want to chance doing something wrong and having somebody get hurt.... and this way if something did ever happen, I believe the installer would be more liable than myself... Anyways, nice to know your tower is holding up well. Cheers, Ryan -
Well I know a few of you guys have experienced just how bad Xplornet's satellite internet is, and being that I use the internet on a daily basis for work, you can only imagine my frustrations. So I finally bit the bullet and had an 85 FOOT tower put up so I could get a decent wireless internet package. $3300.00 later for the tower, and I'll still have slower internet than most of you city guys, but my life will no doubt me much easier and I'll be enjoying much faster and more reliable internet. This guy was nuts, he put up one section, then crawled up and hoisted up the next 8 foot section and bolted it on. Afterwards, my wife had to head out for a couple of hours to a baby shower with the kids so I figured what better way to cheer myself, and my suddenly much lighter wallet up, than to hit up a local creek for late season bass. When I got down to the creek my usual water was totally void of weed or structure of any sort, but I still managed a half dozen of these little guys in about and hour of fishing. Would have had a 5 bag limit running about 1.5 lbs but it's better than nothing. Enjoy your weekends - Cheers, Ryan
-
Depends if your single or not. My wife said I could spend 20 plus grand on a boat someday but it better have a console for her... Fair enough if you ask me.
-
Thanks! It's all good dude - I wouldn't have passed up that deal either! Good job Abraxus. Last year Averie had a bit of a tough time in the cold, but we only really got out a half dozen times so I'm just looking for something used, and relatively easy to set up to keep the kid out of the wind. Also, she managed to step onto somebody else's old hole that was lightly snow covered and her whole leg went right through... scared the poop out of me!!! So it'll be nice to keep her within' the hut confinds while we're fishing... Keep the post going! Sorry to highjack it GBW but I think you got what you needed out of it! haha Thanks, Ryan
-
right on guys! You beat me to it GBW! gotta find something for Averie and I as well! cheers, Ryan

Nice baits Leechman! I second adding a tail trebble, and the feather is a nice little addition also. Can't wait to see your results out on the water. cheers, Ryan
