Great news, have a merry Christmas now!
-
Nice! That last pic is just amazing, did you have it on a timer or did you shoot a video and take a frame out?
-
what's it called?
-
That was pretty cool! Especially the very end, LOL.
-
Getting tired of steelhead, spring it'll be back. Right now I just need some ice. When getting tired of fishing, fish for something else!
-
Not the fish, the park.
-
Not sure, never done it. But watch out I think they close it at 7pm (could be 10), cops were kicking people off earlier in the season.
-
Thanks for posting! I always try to watch that video a couple times a year to remind myself.
-
If you get out a lot, you really should consider a floater suit.
Got mine for $80 used last year, definitely worth it
-
Yup, I'm sure that year it was one of the best, but compared to some of the stuff out now...
-
Didn't post yesterday so here's one big product to cover yesterday and today. Wet fly, streamer and dry boxes, now on the site.
$35 for wet boxes
$20 for framed rusty rat
$30 for framed gray ghost
$30 for dry box
-
Then maybe try some of mine
-
I see what you're getting at, but the award it won was for being voted as best film in the Drake Magazine Fly Fishing Film Competition...
And that was a mistake on their part. Just look at the films in IF4 this year.

nice report, I think seeing all of this Ice fishing talking has turned my itch for it into a rash lol
More like shingles here

#6, another lure for perch (intended for steelhead, but why couldn't you use it as a lightweight perch or crappie jig?)
Marabou steelhead/perch jig. On sale for $2 each.
-
How far did you have to go? (Just wondering what area)
-
Like I said, amazing fishing and some good camera work, but it doesn't deserve a FILM award. Films should be stories, not just shot after shot of big fish.

Sturgeon Lake (Goose Bay area) as of yesterday 7" of ice out to the green marker bouy (521' off my dock).
DO NOT take this as an indication that the ice is safe, I am sure there are plenty of areas that aren't and I take no responsibility for anyone going out even in front of my place. This was tested under the strictist safety conditions, flootation suit rope, and two guys standing by with a boat just in case. I still don't trust it!
That's still pretty awesome! Any wet spots out there?
-
Sorry about that, try in ten minutes.
-
I will be out in the minden area for trout. I was on 5" of ice today but in less then 2ft of water. Cheers jeff
Hey, do you want to try to meet up? Would be safer for both of us too.
-
this is the original bug for those who are interested.
-
#5, the scud. Last winter a lot of you guys were interested in "the Simcoe bug", the bug is nothing more than a VERY crude representation of a scud (freshwater shrimp). These shrimp are one of the main food sources for perch when they are hanging out in the weeds and are great when fish are finicky. This fly is probably 100x more realistic than "the bug" and works very well on the heavily pressured fish. You can fish it by itself but it will take a while to get down 10 feet, so I like to drop shot it with a micro tube and jig below it, works very well!
On sale for $2 (Sorry for the price increase, but since posting I'm on the hook for about 100 flies)
-
We are talking Simcoe here.....I would not be overly surprised if somebody tried to park their truck on it.
ya, but I can take my snowmobile out on it right?
-
LOL, cool! The one on the header would be a daredevil and the red and yellow is just a 5 O' diamonds so I'm sure they work well

Thanks for the reminder! Looks like we won't be able to get a whitefish, unless we get some very, very cold nights this week.
