They've just opened up winter bass and musky fishing here in zone 4.

There are lots of people out there who don't think much of our fishing activity and especially hunting. They just see it as barbaric and think that those of us who participate are mindless neanderthals and not brilliant enlightened individuals like them, sipping lattes at starbucks.

Great, are there specific features to look for when trying to catch suckers, bait?

True, okay lets say mostly the kawarthas since their pike is so good, tips on capturing them would be great too!

It makes no sense for fishing, hunting is not that bad, it's the cleaning of animals that may upset children (you know blood and stuff).

I'd like to try float fishing gators and bass this summer on those lazier days, I would think sucker minnows would be the most reasonable choice of bait however I have never seen them in a bait shop? Does anyone know how and where to catch/buy them? Also I'd like to try catching bait, how should I go about baiting, everyone seems to have different theories?

I think that not many people actually keep bass, if it was something like pike or walleye dates then I could see some problems but frankly I don't think this would hurt.

I noticed that you weren't packing any dry flies - do you think there won't be much action on the surface this time of the year?

You see that last box? Bring a selection but dries should work well for the next while.

We always take AC or WJ but I definitely prefer West Jet.

When I was 14 I'd spend months saving to buy rod or a reel.

 

Times sure have changed. LOL!

Don't have the money yet (about half) but if I knew it was reasonable then I'd work for that money.

I just realized that there are a lot of good bass boats being sold cheap in the US right now, I would consider buying a one, but right now my only question is if you buy a boat registered in the US do you need to re-register the boat for canada? If you do then is it hard to do?

I think that these kids probably should've known, however I'm speaking on behalf of younger kids.

A few years ago (probably 5) I still didn't know the regs existed, as long as they're doing all C&R it should be fine. It does seem to be that at my age you can't get away with as much, in the last few weeks I've been approached by 4 COs!

great report, almost time to switch to pike and eyes again, the nuggets are getting harder to find in spawning areas. Looks like a great time!

I was out again and saw last years grand prize boat drive by while they made fun of us, had minnows today and hooked into about 60 perch, got a nice 12 incher, no tags, will be out again next week with the canoe, hopefully the wind will be less brutal and the water a little warmer.

Great catch and good on you for c+r I also caught my biggest perch today, at a scrappy 12".
