  1. I believe that 4 meters of shoreline " NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE " is crown land... here's a little story.. My buddy Denis L ... has a property in a upscale parts of town along the upper Sturgeon River.. canoeists decided to make his backyard a campground for the weekend..{ he has the greenest grass}... He tried kicking him off "his property" one of the canoeists pulled out a piece of paper that stated that a certain amount of shoreline was crown land .... Denis called the cops ... they didn't know what to do so they called the town Super Intendant ... he agreed with the canoeists they stayed for the weekend.... On the Monday Denis called the ... MNR and they referred him to the federal side of things.. Fisheries and Oceans agreed with the canoeists.. Look into it .. apparently according to Fisheries and Oceans there is no private property on a shoreline.....private structure maybe?? Denis has since put a nice white picket fence along his shoreline.
  2. The Expedition is based on the F-150 platform 1/2 ton ..with rear coil springs offers only gas v8 until this tears model has a 4.5 L diesel. The Excursion is based on the F-250 Super Duty 3/4 ton chassis.. and is longer ..offered diesel & gas engines. kinda like Suburban vs Tahoe/Blazer . I love mine although she's a PIG on gas....oink oink..
  3. Have I got a deal for you!! I know a couple who are now living in their daughter's back yard...He's a retiree from INCO and she's an EX- Highschool principal ... they sold their house and bought a KICKASS R.V. with a tow behind horsetrailer to house his boat and truck & toys. The one in the pics isn"t theirs... but it's just as big and probably much less luxurious... Nonetheless they haven't been able to afford the fuel for their annual trip to Texas..for the past two years.... This is a dieing breed....I'm sure.
  4. I bought a bolt-on bracket from Tow Ready.. sold it to myself at a good $$ I bolt it to my hitch ... this should move the BBQ over by 10" or so..to the right. I'll be able to hook up the boat.. my concern is when I'm gonna be turning sharply to the right I do not wanna damage the BBQ or tear off my trolling motor. When I get a chance I'll dig out my boat and try it..
  5. look at the bbq... you can see I'll have problems towing my boat..
  6. Just the Mercedes coupe is worth more than my house!! Any ideas on what this unit might be worth?
  7. :stretcher: UNREAL!!
  8. Lake Temagami rocks for snorkeling !! ........Nipissing doesn't fare very well.. WARNING Temagami is always freezing cold... Any lake on hwy 11n past Temagami is a great place to start.
  9. I know a guy called, Marcel Mallot...pronounced "MALLO".... what is short for Marcel? Marce...Mallot....."MARSHMALLOW" how bout a guy I went to College with Horace Runhing....horse running. Justin Case.... self explanatory I also know of a SF resident called Richard Head.....figure it out ... he's now called Dave. some peoples parents Sheesh...!!
  10. Do you guys Remember " THE LURE" ? looked like a curled up plastic rapala..that had spent a few hours in the oven. The Mepps Double Cross with adjustable blade pitch? How 'boot Bill Norman Rainbow divers... with hologram sides that wouldn't run straight.? The Flying Lure.... Helicopter Lure.... Banjo minnow[ kinda worked ] for me I loved watching the pike take off with my minnow..or uh my $$$. Money down the drain..... I should've taken 'em right from the box and thrown them in the lake. Like a previous post stated " fishing lures are made to attract fisherman not fish". I stick with old faithfuls and still do pretty good. Randy.
  11. Depends on the primary purpose... #1 if you plan on back country ice fishing then forget about an ATV...a Sled is what you would need. Lake like Temagami, Gull.... Emerald .Red Cedar .forget it.. most lake in northern Ontario that are that are not Fished that much and or have many arms [ far from the main access] are usually a nightmare for ATV's. Like Nipissing or Simcoe that have roads that lead you to the hot spots...are generally very ATV friendly although we own one of each ...last weekend I used the old sled..but have used my ATV most times for Nipissing. As for times used ATV hands down.... An advantage of living in Sturgeon Falls is that we have an ATV By-Law ... they may be used anywhere in town at anytime of day any day of the year...You actually meet up with ATV every day at an intersection...but you may NOT drive down hwy 17 which runs through down..same law applies to an ATV as it does to a Car.
  12. I use my cel phone everywhere I go on nip and never have a problem.. Campbell's & Frank's bay Five Mile Bay.... all the back channels of the French...I don't know if having a local cel # has anything to do with it...Occasionally I get a weak signal around Gibraltar & Canoe Pass.
  13. EH! T.J trout closes there today.....
  14. ... I would not have been disrespectful had I been approached by naked people or naturalists.. had there been naked people there I wasn't planning on taking pictures of them..
  15. Well I wen out to the Lake today and had fantastic time ... I wasn't harassed by any naked people... They left yesterday. We had a great day the Walleye action didn't stop. a few pics... In one of these you can clearly see the pole line we came in from behind me..The north shore of the lake is Nipissing First Nation land.. and has a pole line and OFSC trail running through it. All in all we kept 16 fish out of 27{4 of us} caught....enough for Good Friday Fishfry . Randy
  16. I don't need it on the water ... My Insurance pal said if you can take the loss of a damaging accident to your boat.... then buy Liability Insurance.... in case you Injure someone else or damage their property...he said it should be 60 -80 $ / yr. I'm gonna look into it next week.
  17. Here's my buddy Butch he's new here joined on the 10th... hasn't introduced himself yet. Sturgeon River slot sized Walleye last fall.
  18. #1 welded vs riveted #2 horse power , 2 or 4 stroke. #3 how many passengers will you carry #4 $$$$$ range #5 tow vehicle #6 storage space [in the boat or at home] #7 does the wife agree with the purchase #8 I forget #9 how big of water you will be fishing #10 Insurance *10 I have my boat insured under my house insurance.. so it's covered when it's at home in my yard. When i tow it it's automatically insured under my vehicle's policy. It might stupid.. but when I'm on the water I'm uninsured... I'm thinking of getting a small liability policy. My buddy put me on to this he sells insurance...apparently ends up to be cheaper. there are boat length & horsepower restrictions to this policy.. I've been pulled over by the water cops a dozen times in the past few years and they've NEVER asked me for Insurance.. or ownership for that matter. Randy
  19. this is a lake that only has access during the winter... I know of nobody who's fished it in the past 20 yrs or so...other than my buddy last weekend. we'll go overland by ATV and snowmachine. access is only permitted to members during the summer..... and I aint joining that club.. the lake is surrounded by muskeg which makes summer access nearly impossible. I hope to not get harassed....by naked people on snowmachines....if they do it will be short lived not exactly gonna be warm tomorrow.
  20. EH! I'm going fishing on Family Jewel Lake tomorrow ... There is a Nudist Camp there and is occupied for March break... they have a private road to get there with 2 gates. We are going in from a pole line over Crown Land with our ATV's . My friend went for the first time last weekend and did very very good...awesome Walleye . The "Camp Director" jumped on his snowmachine wearing nothing but a toque and boots and drove up to him.. told him that he wasn't allowed to fish there because he was ruining the sanctity of their festivities...my buddy asked him to prove he owned the lake and would be back the next weekend...[that's tomorrow]....he left on his snowmachine...My buddy kept fishin. The guy came back fully clothed and accompanied by another man .. Harassed my buddy for 10 minutes , they stopped when he threatened to call the cops. I'm expecting this tomorrow.... I checked the MNR rule book and found no laws about "sanctity".. Now . my question is.... What would do? I'm bringing my camera. I'd post the link to their site ...but... I wanna preserve the sanctity of my new fishin hole. Randy
  21. ahem ... fishin' for Walleye? West Nipissing Resort in Lavigne is still pretty good for walleye in June.... lotsa good sized pike right off the dock.. and probably the cheapest rates on that list of yours. good luck on your quest .. Randy
